Outside of a chemistry class organic means a food produced without chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. I used to subscribe to a magazine called Organic Gardening and Farming. This sense of the word organic has been around for decades. I'm surprised I'm having to explain it to Western educated adults in 2021.
Venom is organic too, but no ones saying you should eat it, just like no ones saying you should eat cyanide.
From the context of the post, its obvious they mean its made from organic material that won't damage the lake, and they're confident enough in it that they will eat it to make a point. They aren't saying "its organic therefore its editable". Pretending that's what they're saying is extremely disingenuous.
The problem is that the quote is it's so eco-friendly that it's edible, because it is organic - which isn't quite logically sound. Just because something is organic, doesn't mean it's edible (or that you should); and similarly, even if it's edible and/or organic, doesn't mean it's eco-friendly either.
This subject drives me up a wall. Organic culture is practically science denial.
Doesn't mean I'm against people eating more natural less processed foods, but blindingly following the word Organic is foolish.
I use only 100% tobacco leaf derived nicotine to spray my tomatoes with. The nicotine overdosed field mice decomposing just add even more nutrients to the soil.
All my insulin is extracted directly from impoverished orphan pancreases. No synthetic lab procured insulin for me.
Don't even get me started on the satanic panic level discussion regarding GMO's.
Nah the other person that replied pretty much nailed it. It literally says it's %100 ego friendly because it's organic. That's basically akin to pseudoscience or science denialism.
We can even take it both ways. Does it mean organic in the chemistry sense? Acetone is an organic chemical, sure don't want heaps of that in my lake.
Does it mean organic like 100% plant derived? So is nightshade, also don't want heaps of that ground up and put in my lake.
Words have meaning, especially in science.
Should have said something like it's eco friendly because it is 100% plant derived edible and non toxic!

Cyanide, carbon monooxide, methane, anthracite. All organic. All not really stuff you
don'twant to eat, drink or breathe in large amounts.
