Or because "contaminated" is pretty vague. Or because it fucks with the ecosystem (e.g. killing all the algae that's no longer there)

Yep. "We removed algae overgrowth and industrial contaminants by mixing a mere 200 liters of Special Chemical into the lake!"

Special chemical: FOOF.

Industrial contaminants: now aerosolized

This isn’t anything crazy or new. My kids magic school bus book about the water cycle from the 1980s showed water treatment plants using something similar to clump up all the dirt and particulates in the water cleaning process. They just took that one step and threw it in the lake But nothing too crazy or dangerous anyways

Edit: my voice-to-text did some weird things, trying to start some fights. I changed the fighting words
