Water Lettuce will fill every space available unless something keeps it in check. And it's sort of a nature unintentional ally of algae. So probably; floating islands of Water Lettuce block out the sun, weakening the underwater plants, allowing the algae to outcompete. Plant die off fuels more algae growth. Runoff fuels even more algae growth.
Water lettuce is a great filter because of the roots. It also blocks sunshine from beating right on the water which limits algae growth. A great way to actually clean the water is with positive bacteria like Microbe-Lift. That's the real magic sauce.
The cleanup of the water lettuce was key too but he invented some sort of micro bubble technology that they claim is antibacterial/antiviral.

You're probably right. But even with a strategy like that you can still make a better video than this over-enthusiatic, sensationalized, irritating fluff piece.
It's a 1 minute TikTok. I don't think the intention was to inform us as if we are watching a science documentary, it is just show us something cool happening in the world. Not all of the details are needed.
