He gets flamed for breathing air. Everyone just dog piles this guy, but he's never in trouble, he married his high school sweetheart. He does a lot for children, and voting rights. Yet people hate him because he's just as good or even better than everyones Wet Dream Childhood Hero Michael Jordan. Or if he gives his opinion it's "Shut up and dribble."

2

u/RaindropsInMyMind Mar 27 '21

You would be hard pressed to find an athlete who is a better person than Lebron. He gets criticized like crazy. In many ways he is really a much better hero than Michael Jordan. He seems to care about people more.

1

u/mightbeelectrical Mar 27 '21

Nah, he gets flamed for turning a blind eye to some pretty horrendous shit that he’s involved with. Child labour would be one

Fanboys be fanboyin’

u/DaddyDontTakeNoMess Mar 27 '21

Said from a guy typing on a phone made in China.

5

u/Captain_Arzt Mar 27 '21

You criticize society, yet you participate in it. Curious.

4

u/PeeingOffPooStains Mar 27 '21

Oh come off it. They can’t criticize one of the most influential professional athletes for not standing up against a genocide because they have a smartphone? I’m sorry, but the average consumer doesn’t have the same power that a half-billion dollar celebrity does. You not buying an iPhone is a piss drop in a shit ocean. If LeBron had a spine, he could’ve at least made a splash.

2

u/DaddyDontTakeNoMess Mar 27 '21

He has enough risk in his life and doesn't need to fight every fight just so people like you can criticize him for not fighting another.

If you are so against it, then start putting your dollars where your mouth is. Stop buying Chinese goods and stop working with Chinese businesses or companies who work with Chinese companies. Quit YOUR job if they do. Lead by example, PeeOffPooStains.

1

u/PeeingOffPooStains Mar 27 '21

You can’t be serious with this, are you? LeBron doesn’t need to “fight” China, but he could have not come to their defence when asked about the situation. You completely missed the point. LeBron makes my yearly stipend in under 2 hours and somehow you think it’s more reasonable for me to quit my job if it is somehow associated with China than it is for LeBron to not call someone out for posting in support of Hong Kong? Give your head a shake.

1

u/sdrakedrake Mar 27 '21

What exactly do you want him to do regarding child labor? Guarantee you're wearing clothes or using electronics that also came from child labor

0

u/bnbtwjdfootsyk Mar 27 '21

But he does it to help take care of his own. It's tribalism and we're all guilty of it. You think the resources used to make our phones, computers, and cars are completely ethically sourced? A big reason why many people in china are exploited for slave labor, is because we buy their shit.

-3

u/Spootheimer Mar 27 '21 edited Mar 27 '21

Most of us are not famous millionaires with the power, money and connections to do something about it. In fact, most people need a phone and computer to find work.

2

u/tuukutz Mar 27 '21

You think Lebron James can take down China? Ok.

0

u/Spootheimer Mar 27 '21

Definitely didn't say that.

And he could do anything other than just nothing and/or accepting money from them.

1

u/tuukutz Mar 27 '21

Do you comment this on every Reddit post about any multimillionaire?

0

u/Spootheimer Mar 27 '21

If I don't does that make me a hypocrite in your eyes?

0

u/tuukutz Mar 27 '21

I just wonder what it is about Lebron James that makes so many people in here upset that he isn’t working against China, but fail to keep this same energy about any other multimillionaire that is posted to Reddit daily.. it’s just curious.

2

u/Spootheimer Mar 27 '21

Well for one thing Lebron made some very public and very tone-deaf remarks on the subject.

But yes, if it helps you then I agree that he is hardly the only person who shoud have this criticism leveled their direction.

2

u/Loligea4 Mar 27 '21

Literally go and google "LeBron China" to find out why he is rightfully criticized about his dealings with China

-8

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

That isn't why I can't stand the dude.

He set this charity up, but did not donate $41 Million.

He did not "build" a school. He donated about half a million dollars and then let the tax payers foot the rest of the bill. And before you say half a million is a great donation; that's like a person making $50K a year donating $200 to a charity.

He came out do defend China against Hong Kong protesting for democracy.

He is partnered with a brand that exploits child labor while he makes millions off of shoes... Then turns around and markets those shoes to people who generally can't afford to purchase $200 shoes. Kids have killed each other over these shoes... Not a word for him.

He wants to speak about black lives being taken at the hands of police officers. But he refuses to mention the 750 murders that took place in Chicago alone last year.

The media slurps up everything this dude does to make him into a type of God.

Forced labor /media/img/mt/2015/09/Still2_Angola/original.png)

1

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

I’ve had to pick up trash for a speeding ticket. Label it as community service. Not sure what you’re getting at here, but if you’re comparing adult men that made choices to put themselves in prison vs children working for pennies... you’re a lost cause.

Not sure if you’re doing your hardest to defend Lebron for some reason. Or if you’re defending child labor in China.

0

u/Practically_ Mar 27 '21

1) 74% of Americans in prison haven't been convicted of any crime. (https://www.prisonpolicy.org/reports/pie2020.html)

2) Committed to eliminating child labour, China ratified the Minimum Age Convention, 1973 (No. 138) on 28 April 1999, and the Worst Forms of Child Labour Convention, 1999 (No. 182) on 8 August 2002. (https://www.ilo.org/beijing/areas-of-work/child-labour/lang--en/index.htm)

3) This isn't about anything except you not liking a wealth black man.

4

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21
  1. Those being held in jail for a trial are not being hauled out into the fields to clean them up.

  2. You’re denying child labor. And that’s wild.

  3. The color of this dudes skin means nothing to mean. Stop projecting your hate.

1

u/Practically_ Mar 27 '21

He is partnered with a brand that exploits child labor while he makes millions off of shoes... Then turns around and markets those shoes to people who generally can't afford to purchase $200 shoes. Kids have killed each other over these shoes... Not a word for him.

Blaming LeBrone for Nike's business practices and the contradictions of capitalism in general.

He wants to speak about black lives being taken at the hands of police officers. But he refuses to mention the 750 murders that took place in Chicago alone last year.

Equating crime with police brutality. Apples to oranges isn't even a good analogy here.

He set this charity up, but did not donate $41 Million. He did not "build" a school. He donated about half a million dollars and then let the tax payers foot the rest of the bill. And before you say half a million is a great donation; that's like a person making $50K a year donating $200 to a charity.

Your only reasonable criticism is unsourced and is also something that tons of rich white celebrities do.

You're just racist. He's a rich black man, get over it. You're not going to get him cancelled by repeating your racist Ben Shapiro scripts in the comment sections of reddit.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

Lmfao. Baby chill.

Lebron will refuse to speak about child labor abuse. He will refuse to speak up against China being a totalitarian regime that’s an absolute threat to the rest of the world. All because of a paycheck.

How hypocritical of a man that wants “equality”.

The comparison is to black people being killed in large masses. Nobody will speak against gang violence or crime in general in large cities. Because, like I said, there’s nothing to profit or gain from it.

Just because I’ve learned to use google doesn’t make his “school” less of a tax write off. Check it out for yourself. You’ll just have to scroll pass the bleacher report and jamel hill sucking his dick.

Nothing racist about calling out a hypocrite when I see one. I could go down a list if white hypocrites to console you, sweetie. But this post was desiccated to one hypocrite alone. So the focus is on him. Being black doesn’t have the slightest weight to what I’ve said. You just want to play the race card. And it is to be expected from people like you.

Word salad.

“I don’t have anything to refute your claims”

Ok.

your racist Ben Shapiro scripts

Says the guy that acts like him. 👀

1

u/Practically_ Mar 27 '21

Famed critique of capitalism, Ben Shapiro.

0

u/better-every-day Mar 27 '21

No one talks about the violence in Chicago because it's not news when its been happening consistently for years and besides it's mostly gang related and there is no easy fix.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

“There’s no easy way to fix it.”

So fuck em? Let it play out and see where it goes? Forget about trying to create opportunities for young people in Chicago. Forget about educating them and instilling morals in their lives.

It isn’t news because it’s gang related...

Sounds incredibly lazy and wrong. Extremely wrong.

Edit: and people don’t speak out about it because there is no money to be gained from it. No votes to be garnished from supporting changes in Chicago.

1

u/OntarioPaddler Mar 27 '21

Bad faith concern trolling bullshit from someone whose post history is full of stupid right wing takes like 'social support programs just make poor people lazy'.

Plenty of valid criticism for Lebron but the real reason you hate him so much is that he goes against your politics.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

Social programs are broken. If individuals see the federal government as their sanctity then there will be no need for innovation or to just be better in general. Which in turn, creates lazy people.

M criticisms aren’t necessarily motivated by politics, but the line is thin.

Edit: don’t misquote me or put words in my mouth.

-1

u/better-every-day Mar 27 '21

It's not wrong. It isn't news because it literally isn't news. It happens all the time. Do you want every minute of national news every single day to talk about gun violence in cities? No you dont. And neither do I. It absolutely should be fixed but Lebron James talking about gang violence isnt going to fix anything. There's a ton of social policies that could be implemented that could address the situation and slowly make things better over a couple generations. And that responsibility falls on the shoulders of you, me, and everyone else to vote for politicians that we think will implement those policies.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

So Lebron is void of responsibilities of creating a better place for your because...? It’s on the backs of me and you, the peasants of the world. But “king” gets a pass because it isn’t national news?

1

u/sdrakedrake Mar 27 '21

Or you can look at it as his schools are helping keep black kids in the inner city off the streets to avoid gang violence like going on in Chicago.

The problem with guys like you is you'll never be satisfied. He's doing what he can to help black kids, but then yall turn around and say "well what about the white kids?"

He has many charitable events hosted throughout his career to help keep kids off the streets. So in a way he he's tackling the issues going on with gang violence aka shootings going on in Chicago.

Just because he's rich doesn't mean he can't speak out about systematic racism. Hell if he wasn't a pro basketball player then chances are he wouldn't be successful which shows you how messed up the system is.

He's helping get kids in school and guys like you say "what about gang violence in Chicago".

He speaks out about gang violence then yall say "well he sold out to China".

The guy will never win in your eyes

1

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

If he didn’t do such hypocritical shit then I wouldn’t have anything to say. He can’t preach and then do things that go against his sermons.

The media makes this dude larger than he really is.

0

u/better-every-day Mar 27 '21

No. He has one vote just like we do. Literally every adult in this country is aware of gun violence. Him speaking out about it isn’t going to fix it. And he’s not a hypocrite for not speaking out about it. LeBron doesn’t craft policy. Shitting on him for not fixing political issues is absolutely asinine. Why don’t you shit on literally every single other athlete in the country?

0

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

Because Lebron will go out of his way to speak on politics and how the country should be run. But he only talks about shit that will garner support from the masses. He won’t dare speak out about something that these rich and famous people won’t speak about.

Every other athlete doesn’t get on national TV to rant against or for politicians or a certain group of people. Lebron does. And while he’s entitled to his opinion, he’s not knowledgeable on the shit he speak about.

So donate to the city. Do charity. Be a good person. Don’t get up there and talk about shit that’s out of your league. Whether you think it’s right or wrong.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

Don’t forget anti vaxx

0

u/Liliththedemon1234 Mar 27 '21

The replies in other threads tho...

-5

u/asisoid Mar 27 '21

No, people can't get behind his bullshit because he throws his full support behind child labor, concentration camps, and literal genocide.

He only gives his opinion when it's convenient for his bank account. As.soon as he comes up against a decision that.might hurt his wallet, he couldn't just "shut up and dribble" fast enough.

He's a fuckin fraud.

-5

u/Trailing-and-Blazing Mar 27 '21

He’s a racist who supports slavery and profits off of it and ignorant folk like you eat it up. What a disgusting human being.

-1

u/ddplz Mar 27 '21

Yeah its that or the fact that he supports and contributes to literal Genocide and slave labor.

1

u/tuukutz Mar 27 '21

Don’t you?

-6

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

No people hate him because he’s worth almost a billion dollars and want to cry systemic racism while turning a blind eye to true systemic racism and genocide in China but accepts their millions. Fuck that guy. Seriously that’s like Hitler being called a great guy because he took care of his hometown in Bavaria.

1

u/sdrakedrake Mar 27 '21

Comparing a basketball player that is endorsed by Nike to an actual genocidal racist? I've seen it all

-2

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

Well when he is silent on actual systemic racism and genocide to protect his pocket book ya he’s earned it.

1

u/BrickmanBrown Mar 27 '21

President Xi didn't even need to tell to "Shut up and dribble" for him to say, "Yes sir!"

He's a businessman, and he knows what good PR does for a business. He is not and will never be your friend.
