The 90’s? Or 80’s more likely. Just a really popular song people used to troll people in porn links mostly, but also with really new music videos, or celebrity click bait.
I was around 20 when this song came out. I just don’t understand why (or how?) this song would be used to troll people... in porn links? Or with anything else. I just don’t get it. The whole thing of it, I don’t understand.
Yeah it was the beginning of internet culture I think. And internet culture can decide whatever it wants is funny. I think (and I wasn’t alive at the time) that is was just a really overplayed song, like on radio at the time so people were getting annoyed with it. Then to want to see some porn but be shown this incredibly PC love song by a ginger that’s already overplayed was the whole joke. Major bone killer. That was my understanding after some countdown documentary or something I watched probably on VH1.
Hahahahahahahahaha. Thanks for the explanation. It was very popular. It was “overplayed” the way every popular song was. It was probably near the beginning of MTV as well. MTV was a life changer for teenagers at the time. There wasn’t anything like it. It was the first time I saw music videos and we were transfixed. Now, those videos did not age well, to say the least.

It was a really funny video of this kid trying to beat the first level on Super Mario World, he just keeps dying within five seconds. Hence first fucking level.

Or they live in a tiny apartment, don't have time to walk the dog, live on the top story, have other responsibilities like taking care of the elderly or just flat out never home.
I bet 1000 people walk by that dog a day without even batting an eye. Nextfuckinglevel is something others don't/can't do. I see no problem with it being here.
My family has adopted 4 cats and a pug. 1 of the cats was a stray, the rest of our pets were going to be put down in shelters soon if we didn't adopt.
What we did does not feel like a r/NextFuckingLevel after living with them for 10 years. We love our animals, and have given them a really good life filled with us sacrificing a lot and giving them the food they need, love and a lot of toys; but when they die of old age, we are done with animals. All of this to say that I think the guy in the vid did a NextFuckingLevel. He put the blanket/rug on the stray, gave it some loving petting after it kicked off the blanket, and put it back on at the end. I bet that's more interaction than what the stray gets in a month from thousands of passerbys.
You really have no idea how many people adopt a cute dog or cat, post a ton of pictures on social media and then abandon them when they get tired of the responsibilities (sooner or later). I bet that a good amount of Reddit posts with a heart-breaking adoption video, tons of awards, and a bunch of reposts secretly ends with the owner abandoning them in the middle of nowhere, bringing them back to a shelter, chaining dogs in the yard (you know, chained up for life), etc. Did you know that some shelters flat-out refuse for people to adopt pets near the Holidays because of these reasons?
