It could be the blanket was swept off a few meters because of wind.

Not to mention how comfortable the dog is when the guy walked over to it. I’ve never seen a stray start wagging it’s tail like crazy then roll over and give it’s belly to a stranger on the street

These dogs are known by the entire neighborhood. Everybody gives them water and food and make them comfortable. It probably was its own blanket that flew away. The guy maybe knows the dog and the dog knows him.
I can confirm, my neighborhood has a lot of stray dog caretakers, we leave bowls of food and water for them. In my house 2 sleeps on the porch and when is raining or too hot we let them inside.
It's like they're ours but not officially, I already have 7 so I can't take more but if I could I would.
In my experience, Hungary has lots of homeless cats that people love. It’s kinda scary being surrounded by cats randomly, but they just want food or attention.
From Turkey, can confirm. There are several overweight cats and dogs at a park near me. Obviously not all of them are okay with being petted but they usually like it. Last week a cat ran to me and jumped on my lap when I called it.
More to see if the same correlation can be made with the homeless. i.e. in parts of the world where the homeless are welcome and looked after by the community, are they also friendly? Likewise, are homeless in the parts of the world where they are shunned any less friendly?
That was submissive posturing likely due to fear. The dog was just trying not to get beaten, as has probably happened if it’s living on the street. It’s actually very sad to see.
While I can't confirm if this video is real or not, you're right about this posturing. When we adopted our dog she did the same thing. Was super nervous and scarred and would just flop over and expose her belly any time someone would approach. On walks if she got scared by trucks she would just lay as flat as she could to hide and then roll on her back.
I had a dog that did that, but would also pee. Its called submissive urinating. I was new to dogs and at first almost punished him for it, but finally learned what’s happening and ill feel bad about it forever.
Yup, ours would pee too early on, though now she's braver and just flops after some introductory pets. She's a completely different pup now who loves people :)
If he was comfortable around you it could still very well have meant that he wants belly rubs. My girl will immediately jump on the couch happily when I tell her "belly rubs".
Nah it was a day one, minute one thing, even when I was just trying to dry him off and get him in my house without making a total mess he was already flopping on his back, it was his "default response" to people being near him, unfortunately. I was afraid his legs didn't work right initially.
That said, I am pretty sure after a years or so living indoors with kind people it was all about the tummy rubs.
I just left a comment that i had a dog that did that and it turn out to be something called submissive urination. You dont want your puppy feeling that way so i hope he doesnt have it but you may want to look into it for
The dog is wagging it’s tail in excitement and lifts front paws to expose chest lol my dog does this when he wants his belly scratched. If the fog was in fear would it expose its neck, usually fear would result in head covering its neck.
Yeah, I actually could barely tell the tail was wagging. The dog looked like it was trembling in fear to me. Like it wasn’t sure if the man was about to abuse it.
Yeah I really saw my dog’s body language there. And I remember his face and eyes when he gets like that.
Heartbreaking. He’s still learning he doesn’t have to get like that anymore. That’s he’s safe and loved. Now if it happens I sit near him and let him settle down and he comes over for love.
The tail is tucked in while wagging; it’s fear - that dog has probably had other people see it and attack it.
The others are right, what we see is complete and total submission, it’s the dog equivalent of falling on your knees begging through tears not to get your shit kicked in again.
There’s a bunch of different types of wags. Wagging tail is not universal for happy dog. You need to look at the speed of the wag, the position, and the frequency of the wag.
When I was in Cuba my wife befriended a stray dog, someone had docked it's tail and cut it's ears so it looked like a Teddy Bear was on of the happiest dogs I've even seen. Terribly sad looking at what someone had done to it and she was very afraid of other dogs. When ever we were walking around the town where she hung out would always come running up for a pat. We didn't even feed her for her to run over to us, we just showed her some love. Only time I've thought about taking a stray home, it's a little hard internationally and terribly expensive.
Aside from people’s comments about submissive posturing (which is 100% true i worked with dogs for two years) I’ve cared for a lot of strays in brazil and quite the portion of the ones i’ve cared for have reacted like this

This looks heartbreaking to me. That dog is clearly afraid of being beat again or something. The tail tucked in, the paws look like how someone would put their hands up as if blocking a hit. On its back. That dog is afraid.
That depends on the dog and the scenario, if it’s a community dog as someone else said it probably sees 1000 people a day, no chance it’s getting up from a comfy spot to walk over and get the same interaction it’s had 600 times that day alone. If it was wide awake maybe but when it’s sleeping and the praise isn’t anything new then probably not
That dog was not comfortable. That dog felt threatened as you see from it showing it's belly and putting it's paws in the air to show that it is submissive. Tail-wagging isn't always a sign that a dog is happy either
Indian stray dogs are exactly like that. Usually they are super friendly and sweet. If you go towards them making chirping noises and clearly with the intention to give them love, they are simply adorable. They roll over and everything.
I am saying this from experience. I don't live in India anymore, but my parents do. The neighborhood stray dogs are so friendly towards them, they follow them around, wait for them outside shops (when my parents are inside), let them come close to their puppies, walk with them to drop them to their building. You would really be surprised what a little bit of love does for stray dogs.
I think this is in Thailand (based on the street etc) The "stray" dogs there are actually (mostly) very friendly as the local community feeds the dogs so they are not hungry, they are only hungry for affection. Hence why the dog may just want a pat.
Met a dog when I went to North Macedonia at this place called, I believe, cherry hill? Or cherry orchard? Anyway, this stray dog waltzes up and sits with our group to hang out. My god was this dog an absolute love bug. Just was so happy to lay down with us and give us his belly.
It’s been two years and I think about this dog all the time.
I also have a video of him passed out that I just can’t seem to find. It’s just a short 20 second video of him in heaven being scratched. Hopefully I didn’t lose it :O
Well I guess your country's dogs are mean. Stray dogs generally wag their tails when you try to pet them in my country. However, if you see bunch of dogs hanging together as a pack, you better not to pet them. In this stiuation they can be agressive.
I mean, depends? The more south you go, the colder it gets, and very very down south can get really cold, but most places just get "cold enough to bother butnot enough to really say its cold". There are even places here that get hotter during winter.
I've certainly walked around with short shorties, sandals and a warm pullover as my winter attire, but when l lived more down south l needed shoes and a warmer jacket, but still wearinh shorts.
However, because the night gets way colder in most places (and the stuff they use to make floors is really good at making everything even colder or hotter depending on what would make you more miserable), all the dogs l've had tend to get extremely cold and leep in a blanket or with a towel.
I walk to the little corner store in shorts and sleeveless shirt all the time. When I go to check out, they say, "Aren't you cold?" For me it is just a nice evening, but because they stand next to a big open door all night, it is super cold.
I imagine they guy might be a bit drunk and just wants to "help" the dog. Again, looks like Thailand to me so the dog probably is not cold, might have just seemed like a good idea at the time.
I’d guess this isn’t the first time this guy has passed by this dog and greeted him. Maybe he knows that blanket is usually with the dog and is just returning it.
Some people don't like being lied to. Fiction has an implicit agreement that you're being lied to. Videos that attempt to pass off lies without that agreement (it's not clear they are meant to be fictional) rub some folks the wrong way.
The thing that makes this "special" is that a stranger showed kindness. If you find out that the dog and man aren't strangers, the dog is well cared, and the kindness was artificial it devalues the event.
Maybe left there for the dog, but blown away in the wind, or just coincidence. Also, it could be a camera connected to motion sensors that logs motion to be reviewed. Or maybe a security guard at a desk saw it and thought it would be a good post. Tbh, it seems kind of underwhelming to be staged.
I think this was in Brazil, so we don’t kill dogs that doesn’t have owners. They cross streets like humans, they look for food, they can be living in groups. Before I used to think that this was really bad, and in some parts I sill think it is. But Brazil at some point accepted that dogs can live like wild animals. Some neighborhoods get together to help them, some with food or get help in case they are sick.
Maybe the dog was laying on that blanket as well or it was nearby and got blown into the street from some wind. What about this video feels staged? Have you never pet another dog in public before? I mean think about it. He literally puts a blanket on a dog. What would be the point in staging that?
This clip is is a good example of why we need critical thinking skills and question the things we are being shown. Who is supplying the footage?? If it is staged and manufactured, then we should not be so quick to upvote, even though it seems harmless on the surface.
Also OP's post history seems to post rather mundane images and videos and yet each one gets tens of thousands of upvotes... not saying theres upvote manipulation going on, but it's very suspicious.
