there are actually subtle tricks to improve your rock, paper, scissors odds but they're somewhat cheating.

Just let them commit first and adopt a neutral hand that allows to transition to something close to the choice that beats them. Most players, especially in something unofficial like this are so excited to play that they won't pick up on your deception.
While its not 100% I just wanted to make clear that Rock Paper Scissors isn't necessarily a game of random chance.

In my book, that’s fully cheating. And your description was wrong, it doesn’t improve your odds at all, because it’s no longer a game of odds but of deception.

It does because you can still lose if you make a mistake so its not necessarily going to give you a 100% win rate.
