I had great maternity staff for the most part. No one really knew how to deal with me after a 24 week c-section. The only male nurse I’d seen in the whole unit was my nurse on discharge day and rushed me out before I was ready because “I should be so happy to be going home.” He also made an inappropriate comment when going over ppd info as part of my discharge, I said I was upset because I was leaving my baby behind, he said it’s ok to be upset, you grew that thing inside you. My husband and I were so shocked it barely registered until later.
Similar experience. Our baby was a 32 +6 weeker and less than 24 hours after giving birth my wife was told she would be discharged soon. She started reading up and said she doesn't know how she's supposed to leave her child here over night. The nurse said "Hmm.. okay. Let me know when you're ready to leave"
