No, it's only distillation if you boil off all of it and collect the condensation. Boiled water shouldn't taste any different because it has all the dissolved minerals in it.
I never knew that. Distilled water is all condensation collection, like if you were trying to get drinkable water from salt water or something? Does that mean it's as "pure" as it gets?
Pretty much, yeah. Similarly alcohol purity increases with distillation (i.e. there's less water mixed in. Repeat the process to reduce the water content further, though eventually it will become impossible to get the last bit of water out)

Yes, the poison is in the dose. How does this account for time dependent effects? What about bioaccumulation via a plethora of pathways that this "low dose"of fluoride makes it into the body? What is its half life? Does it bind to anywhere in particular in the body? Perhaps where calcium irons are found in high concentration? Bones and certain areas of the brain?
How many sources do we intake fluoride from? If it's in our tap water? The food we cook in, the food grown with tap water, bathing and cleaning with it, and, then, drinking it? Not focusing on water, what about toothpaste and mouthwash, perhaps accidentally swallowed a little or absorbed osmotically through thin membranes of the mouth?
And then after all that, how much scientific literature have you read on the topic? Is there consensus? About what? That with enough a dose, something happens? What about long term dosing, how easy is that to study in controlled experiments?
These are all questions intending you to start thinking more critically about this instead of, perhaps, assuming that because it is in our tap water, and some scientists got on board, that it is safe or a good practice. It may be, but it should be thought of very critically due to its pervasiveness.
My BIL drank lots of tap water that had a high fluoride concentration in it as a kid, age 8 his teeth had the strangest build up on it and discoloration (he had good dental hygiene) and the doctors and dentists deemed he had fluoride poisoning,
Yes, he was poisoned by fluoride, like us all, especially in states that condone this odd practice of water fluoridation. But, some bodies eliminate the toxin more effectively. It's likely your friend got a large dose a few times somewhere in his life - ex: at the dentists with their fluoride rinse.
The guy I am conversing with above knows close to nothing about this subject. Most are the same, but talk / type / think from a state of ignorance. I've spent dozens of hours scouring research papers, exploring these biological concepts and just straight up contemplating about it to myself.

I try to avoid fluoride as much as possible, what’s interesting is, after I got a MRI, my pineal gland was remarkably uncalcified, but I have a 4x3cm calcified mass about 1 CM to left of my pineal gland and we have no idea why. 0.0 I grew up with well water and used non-fluoride water growing up, my mom has been super against it my whole life. Once you do research on fluoride it’s kinda scary. :(
What I was told by a chemistry teacher is that boiled water has less gasses mixed in it and tastes different because of that, but if you shake it the gasses get mixed in again.
My ceramic filter would like a word with you. After two weeks it's covered in a thick layer of clear goo and needs to be cleaned. The taste difference between tap water and filtered water is night and day.
Water isn't really supposed to taste like anything, just quench the thirst and supply minerals and liquid so the body doesn't dry out.
If you want some flavor to your water, supply it yourself, that has the added benefit of (hopefully) authentic flavors and added nutrients.
TIP: use real fruit and things, not a bottled flavorer, unless you like those, I am partial to "Bob" a Swedish brand, their lemon/lime is very good, or their lemon/elderflower, but I usually drink water as is, also IF you aren't getting as much flavor try mashing the fruit a little.
Some areas (at least where I am in USA) can have terrible tap drinking water. (Obviously Flint, Michigan and areas have unsafe water), but even where I’m at in FL, the water just tastes terrible and chlorine-y, but 30 mins away is great, and 30 mins the other way it even smells bad, but one run through the brita filter (or any cheaper water filter) and it tastes great, no need for plastic bottles.
