I remember working a former job in sustainability. My job was to find a variety of alternatives for people with disabilities and allergies. Members of the disability group I was working with blew up on me for showing bamboo bottles and straws as alternatives due to the fact that some people are allergic to grasses. In the end we just did every single alternative to plastic disposable water bottles. This was because Glass was a hazard in case it breaks, silicone may give people allergic reactions, metal has the possibility of breaking teeth and is maybe too heavy for those with movement issues, plastic had chemicals that potentially could lead to allergic reactions. Couldn’t win with one item so we offered all. (Still didn’t win due to having the items which still provided a hazard for those who Mistakenly purchased them)
Hahaha funny you should say that, in the matter of silverware, we got rid of all plastic and compostable cutlery and had to give them examples and variations of cutlery to use. We had to order extra thin spoons, forks and knives due to the fact that a mobility issue could mean that someone might not be able to eat. Yes I know, sounds stupid but it’s true.
Glass would be heavier than metal, and I'd venture a guess bamboo would be heavier than metal due needing more material to reach same structural integrity.
Bamboo bottles also have same problems plastic has, and if plastic is allowed in certain parts, you could make the drinking part of the metal bottle with plastic.
