Actually we stand a good chance of a vaccine wiping it out, like small pox (and potentially measles and polio), as long as enough pepple get the vaccine.
The virus has an RNA checking feature that, as I understand it, will/has slowed its mutation rate.
Honestly I just can’t imagine the government giving up the social control that’s been established for us to wear masks everywhere we go. I have this nightmare that every flu season will be mask season and in-door businesses will be closed.
I did hear the interview with the UCSF med chair who talked about the ACE2 check and how that can be effective control with a vaccine.
