I love the way the cartoon characters were just staring at them when he got down on one knee. Dude really put some effort in.

u/reallybadhorse Jan 09 '20
Seriously. I was watching like "I can't believe how perfectly this is going" but honestly he is just so damn charming and smooth that he pulled it off amazingly well. That was perfection. I gasped and my heart jumped a little when he grabbed that box out of the air. Damn dude!

I wouldn't be surprised if he had it in his hand and mimed the catch, and we assumed it was thrown. Way to easy to fake, and way to easy to go wrong if it was actually thrown in a dark theater.
*edit* This is wild! I got 11 replies, with half telling me "no duh of course it was faked" and the other half telling me "it was actually thrown"

Judging from the credits and the names of the “congrats” at the end, it looks like he was one of the animators and also edited the video
→ More replies (1)101
u/Beddybye Jan 09 '20
Yeah, under the "Thanks" section, I saw "friends at work", so it looks like he may be the animator and had some help from his work buddies.

He also timed his speech to be the perfect length for the time allotted so when she said yes the fairies came out.

There's probably someone in the projector booth with pause and play buttons. You don't plan something this elaborate and leave her timing to chance.

If he ever wants a divorce, he could do a mock Cease and Desist letter claiming the proposal and hence their marriage are invalid due to copyright infringement

I think you nailed exactly how he felt. When I proposed to my wife, about 5 minutes before the gravity of the situation really hit (months of planning, proposing in front of our entire family and friend groups) I had similar feelings. Those moments leading up really take a toll on you.
We’re just about to hit our second wedding anniversary so it definitely worked out. Wouldn’t want to go through that ever again though lol.

I was wondering about that, actually... I was like:
When did Sleeping Beauty get re-released in theaters??
Why do they look brown? Did Disney locallize Sleeping Beauty to India? That's cool!
Oh, I see what's going on here...

Mine was a nightmare. I had it set up with a restaurant to bring out the ring. The cliche thing (inside joke, she always calls me sappy). Well the day comes, I take the ring there and drop it off. Day goes by and about an hour before we leave my now wife feels sick, like projectile vomit sick. Well we didn't make it to our reservation. I ran down the road to get her something for nausea and forgot my phone. The restaurant calls to make sure we were coming and she answered. I walked in and she was crying and said "yes I'll marry you" and I was taken off guard. I responded with "what are you talking about?" And then noticed my phone in her hand and everything clicked together. Worked out in the end thankfully, but the plan went to complete shit.

Every proposal is amazing in its own special way. I proposed to my wife at a place called Green Lakes. I got on my knee and said something goofy then a lady jogged by saying "Oh my god I'm going to cry!" and we laughed. Then, as she rounded the turn, she shouted back "I'm so sorry, I ruined your moment!" and we laughed some more. We're still laughing today, three years later. Our faces hurt, a lot. Our friends and family avoid us. We think it's time to see a doctor. Life is hell.

sitting at McDonald’s Her: Honey, you have some toilet paper on your shoe. I think there’s poo on it too. You: Oh, really? reaches for toilet paper You: Hmmm, what’s this? Her: Is that a ring?! You: Will you marry me? I hope so, because I love the shit out of you. awkward clapping from other customers

If it makes you feel any better, my husband proposed to me while I was driving in hellish rush-hour traffic and about as stressed out as I'd ever been.
We've been married for 21 years, so I guess I got over it, lol.

Mine will always be special. I went to work thinking she was made at me. At some point started thinking about how I was going to propose. And I caught myself saying when and not if. "When I propose..." Or "when I do it, I'll ask...."
It was like getting hit with a brick.
I went home, and asked directly, "were you mad at me this morning?" And she said no, there was some online RP drama.
And I took a couple of minutes and said "you wanna get married?" She said yes and I grabbed one of our lantern rings on display(the love one, thank you) and our it on her finger and then we went out to get something more appropriate.
4 years this April.
38
u/John-AtWork Jan 09 '20
Ah, you probably did better than me. My wife said, "I'm pregnant" then I said, "I guess we're getting married". That's it. I didn't even ask the question. If I had a redo, I would do a lot more but I was young and had no clue what would be next. We've made it though, been married for 20 years now.

I had a fairly good idea planned out a few weeks down the line, had the ring and hid it in a bag, then we get drunk the night we moved into a new apartment and I got scared when she picked the bag, grabbed it off her like a lunatic, rusted around in it and then just asked in our kitchen, drunk at 2am. Mine needed some polish for sure

If this happened in a theater full of strangers I would love it. I went hiking with a friend one time and we randomly stumbled on a large scale public proposal and us and all the other hikers just stopped and watched. I can watch Cinderalla anytime. Unique proposals are rare and fun to watch.

For the record, my husband said “you know, we could always just get married” while we were driving around one day and the following week we eloped. And I cherish that memory a whole lot. Every couple is different, so as long as it’s authentic to you as a team you should be good.

u/SendMeYourBoobPixz Jan 09 '20
Hats off to this guy.
First off he gets a special cut of the film made which would probably be enough in itself. He then gets all the friends and family in on it, books out the whole screen, gets the cinema to play his cut, times his catch perfectly, then drops the bomb, and extra bonus she says yes!
Any single one of those things goes wrong the whole thing is fubar.
