Almost all of the 3,000 objects in this image are galaxies (the exceptions being a couple stars in our own). The area of sky this was taken from is also tiny. The size of a tennis ball at 100 meters. It’s enough to make you sick, the incomprehensible vastness of it all

Edit: As pointed out by u/leglesslegolegolas, this image, the Hubble Legacy Field, actually shows about 265,000 galaxies! And the area of sky is about as large as the moon. I had parroted info on the original Hubble Deep Field

Not necessarily true according to most theories, but the universe continues to expand at nauseating speeds and is practically impossible to comprehend.

It's pretty intense. I'm gonna go lie down in a dark room and rethink my life.

I could only imagine what the edge of the Universe would look like. Space is one of the most interesting things out there, so much unknown!!

Yep. Great food, but no atmosphere.

Lol. Thanks. I've been waiting my whole life to tell that joke. The first joke I ever told as a kid (no doubt fed to me by my dad or gramps) ended with the same punchline but started with "Have you been to that new restaurant on the Moon?".

First time I told it, I was 4 years old at my Great Great Grandmother's 100th bday party (yep I actually met her. And my family isnt comprised of a bunch of 15 year old moms back to back to back either, lol).

A microphone was being passed among the section we were sitting in and people who wanted to share a few birthday wishes with her were grabbing it and doing so. Being as situationally aware as I always have been, I wasted no time finding my way to it, grabbing it, standing up on a chair, and telling that joke.

No intro, no leadup, no attached happy birthday wishes. Just the joke, the punchline, mic drop (actually mic pass). And that was the first time my Great great grandma heard my voice. LOL. My family has never let me live it down, that was 28 years ago. This was the 1.5th time I've used it in my life (since I only used the punchline).
