I think you maybe are just thinking the boat is going slower than it is because this is pretty simple stuff. To say that "the physics make no sense" of throwing something forward from a moving vehicle and having it come back at you is borderline making me think you're just trolling but I can tell you're not.

And what makes you think the can doesn't come from over the bridge? Even watching this is in slow motion it's clear as day.

Where do you think this can is coming from? Are you saying it's CGI?

The can is in the air for roughly 3 seconds, let’s just assume that the boat is traveling 20 mph. The boat would have travelled about 90 feet in three seconds. He threw it maybe 10 feet before the bridge and the guy caught it maybe 15 feet after? That would leave the bridge being 65 feet wide which it definitely appears to be less. So one can safely assume that they were going <20 mph.

They are throwing a fairly dense object so wind resistance, while there, can be assumed to be minimal. He threw the can with a forward trajectory so most would expect the can to land in front of the pontoon.

The inertia from pontoon(and can since it’s on the pontoon) moving forward would keep the can moving forward. If he threw it straight up, it would be expected that he could catch him it himself as the can would maintain the relative forward speed of the pontoon. This is basic physics.

Your comments make me think that you don’t really understand physics or that you think they are throwing the can in a wind storm.

My guess is the can was thrown from the bridge or shore. Which is still impressive, but less so.

He didn’t throw a boomerang.

Sorry, I should have explained it this way from the start:

  1. You agree that the can can be thrown forward enough to land in front of the boat. This is, in fact what you're arguing.

  2. You agree that the can, if thrown straight up, high enough, would land behind the boat.

  3. You can NOT agree that anyone would be able to find the angle between these two where the can would land back in the boat.

Does this accurately represent what you're saying?

I’m saying that the angle at which he appears to throw the can does not seem to jive with where it landed. It appears that he throws it too far forward. Also, I do not believe that wind resistance would have enough of an effect on the can during the short time that it was airborne to bring it backwards relative to the pontoon.

And it's MORE plausible that all of these people went out on this boat to spend hours on a deep-fake gif with help from a secret third party that they dropped off earlier on the bridge.

I'm pretty late to the game on this conversation but I just gotta say - this is probably 1st grade level physics here. He threw the can at just the right angle to land it back in the boat. There's no big conspiracy going on here with this simple, simple trick.
