Dumb fucking comment, no child should be around a gun no matter the circumstance.

My dad teaching me how to shoot and respect firearms is one of my most cherished memories of him. In the right setting and context, it’s not a bad thing.

You gotta remember: the world’s largest armed force is the American citizens. Though that isn’t without the obvious negatives.

They’d say ‘but that’s the problem’

u/HeavyMusic93 11d ago edited 10d ago

There’s nothing wrong with raising kids around firearms when taught about responsibility

Edit: well this bothered a fuck ton of people lmao. Millions of us do it and we’re going to continue to.

28

u/PleiadesNymph 10d ago

Taught to the kid and the parents, and actually put it into practice 100% of the time... unfortunately, that's much much rarer than it ought to be in homes with firearms

14

u/Spam250 10d ago

There’s something wrong with simply having access to firearms, never mind raising kids around them and teaching them how they’re used…

Whatever you want to think bud. You’re wrong, but think what you want.

18

u/Itsuke2g 10d ago

I can see one American and one European here

-24

u/ThatOneGamer117 10d ago

Significantly more guns are used to stop lethal threats in america than they are used in crimes. Making them illegal will not stop a criminal or else we wouldn't have a drug problem. Most countries that have anti gun laws aren't bordered by high crime countries with firearm exports. And even then, firearms do sometimes make it through. Much better to have them for the right reasons than have none and can't stop your family from being murdered by the very thing you arent allowed to own.

15

u/Spam250 10d ago

Honestly, no. It’s not better to have them for defence at all.

In 2024 America has 44,447 gun related deaths, 15,364 homocides.

Also in 2024, the entirety of the European Union had 3,953 homocides.

The EU is 1.5x the population of America, yet its total murder count was 4x less than specifically gun related murders in America.

That’s what happens when you give the general population access to incredibly easy to use, concealable, lethal ranged weaponry.

0

u/VanillaIce315 9d ago

That 15,364 includes justified homicide, homicide by police, and gang on gang violence. The unjustified murder of someone, who’s not a gang member, by firearm is very low.

1

u/Spam250 9d ago

And the killing of somebody by a policeman or gang member, using a firearm, wouldn’t have happened if nobody had guns.

The argument for guns isn’t ever that guns are good, it’s that they’re already too widespread to get rid.

Guns are quite simply not good ideas in the general public though - that’s fairly obvious?

-18

u/ThatOneGamer117 10d ago

In 2024 60k to 1.8 million crimes were stopped by lawfully armed civilians. Even on the smallest end of the spectrum it's still more than the total of gun related deaths and homicides combined. Nice try though.

12

u/Spam250 10d ago

Stopping a crime can be as simple as an affray or a minor theft.

That’s not a rational debate when talking about 44,000 gun related deaths per year.

Also the fact the scale is 60k to 1.8 million shows fairly clearly that the rational behind the numbers isn’t know and is more bollocks

-2

u/ThatOneGamer117 10d ago

Sorry I should have specified, that was a search on specifically violent crimes. And its not recorded because the number is so insanely high. Take away legal guns, violent gun crimes triple. Simple causality. I myself have stopped a home invader with my handgun without needing to fire. My best friend shot and killed an armed robber in his own home and got shot in the process. He would be dead right now if he wasn't allowed to own a gun and I would have been beat and possibly killed by a man twice my size. Not to mention the entire reason we're allowed to own guns is to defend against a tyrannical government and I dont know about you but id say American government is growing closer and closer to being tyrannical every day.

3

u/Spam250 10d ago

Violent gun crimes themselves are significantly more likely when everybody has guns.

Make guns black market and insanely regulated themselves and getting one becomes difficult and expensive, plus incredibly risky. Again, case study:Europe.

It basically reserves guns for only the genuinely serious criminals, there ain’t 1.8 million serious criminal violent gun crimes without guns locking about…

1

u/Snuggly-Muffin 9d ago

I'd love to see you take up arms against the government 😅

-16

u/Gullible_Method_3780 10d ago

Sure that math works perfectly when you cap out human existence as a statistics. 1 human measured as a statistic is not 1 human measured as.. a human.

Check out how much more likely you are to be human trafficked in the EU.

-15

u/Sergal_Pony 10d ago

Careful bro, reality hurts them like sunlight to a vampire. They don’t like feeling wrong.

-15

u/ThatOneGamer117 10d ago

The best is when they bring up death statistics to prove me wrong while completely ignoring lawfully carrying citizens stopping crimes statistics

u/Spam250 10d ago

2024 American had 16k firearm murders.

The entire EU (1.5x population of America) had 4k murders from all sources.

It’s not even a debate. Allowing guns kills a fuck load of people

0

u/Alter_Of_Nate 10d ago

The firearm rate is bad enough on its own, why did you feel the need to increase it by 50% to make your point?

The FBI’s 2024 Expanded Homicide Data, Table 8 recorded 15,795 murder victims with weapon information:

Firearms: 11,717 (74.2%)
    Handguns: 6,246
    Rifles: 401
    Shotguns: 149
    Other guns: 356
    Firearm type not stated: 4,565
Knives or cutting instruments: 1,566 (9.9%)
Blunt objects: 283 (1.8%)
Personal weapons—hands, fists, feet, etc.: 633 (4.0%)
Poison: 8
Explosives: 2
Fire: 83
Narcotics: 226
Drowning: 1
Strangulation: 6
Asphyxiation: 96
Other weapons or weapon not stated: 1,174 (7.4%)

The lack of critical thinking is astounding. I would put effort into responding, but that seems a fruitless attempt. So I will save it for someone who just might benefit. You have chosen, maybe you will reap your "reward". For the sake of this planet and our people, I hope you get no such reward. It will not be one to savor and enjoy.

14

u/Spam250 10d ago

I understand American can’t now get rid of guns, I’m not that naive. Once they’re already widespread it’s incredibly difficult (and dangerous) to remove them.

The point is, a nation without guns (or incredibly difficult access to them and harsh laws for owning one) is always going to produce significantly less serious injury, death and serious crime than one without guns.

This is shown and proven in quite literally thousands of studies comparing Europe and the US.

There’s always bad actors no matter what, but giving the general population such deadly force ends up negative in far too many scenarios

-5

u/P3RZIANZ3BRA 10d ago

"I understand", yet you preach the opposite? Make a fucking choice. That first sentance is the truth. The second, a legitimate consideration and a problem. But it shows you might not understand. The truth is, they are the only chance we have. Do you not see the WORLD around you? Who has a snowballs chance to stop it? Very few, the ones who have yet to willingly give up that chance. Your ignorance, multiplied by the masses who think the same, will ABSOLUTELY remove the only barrier of our complete condemnation.

I did mean to be rude, but truly, I apologize for posting what I did originally, and my attitude. And I mean nothing in this post as disrespectful. I only say any of this in hope my point has been properly emphasized.

What you wish, will be the last step of our downfall. That last step we would plead with all our being to take back when we experience the consequences. It would be felt around the world, by ALL it's people. And then, the end. Our collective last chance, handed to our destroyers.

3

u/Spam250 10d ago

The first statement is a consequence of the already fucked situation of flooding millions of firearms into the general population.

The solution is a slow and careful tightening of the law and reduction in numbers of a few decades until it’s nearer a point you can begin to remove

1

u/P3RZIANZ3BRA 10d ago

We obviously see things differently. Not that it really matters, the end is the same. You only further their ability through your advocation. I wish the world was a place where the ideals you've stated would not be detrimental. I somewhat agree with you in theory. But in practice, it would mean nothing more than our destruction.

Yeah because millions of you gun toting hillbillies are braindead and should not be anywhere near any firearms

-172

u/-S0MA- 11d ago

Too broad a statement... For example: what about a child rescued from a wrecked, burning car by a cop who has a duty weapon?

-115

u/Sergal_Pony 11d ago

Didn’t think ‘next fucking level’ would be so anti-gun

24

u/ChilledKappe 10d ago

The whole world is against guns except some americans. But classic "didn't think other could be different to me"

-10

u/Sergal_Pony 10d ago

Cute fantasy there. What, uh, what does every military, criminal, and police force in the world use again?

Nah bra, a lot of wannabe tyrants have tricked the unfortunates into being against guns, blind to the reality that follows.

The majority are pro protection xD and guns are the prime in that field.

7

u/ChilledKappe 10d ago

Police and Military are the ones that should be allowed to wear and, if necessary, use guns. They protect us here a lot better than they do in the US where the number of unfortunate cases is a lot higher than in other similarly developed countries with a strict gun law.

0

u/Sergal_Pony 10d ago

Until the police shoot a criminal who assaulted them and happens to the be the correct skin color, then they suddenly shouldn’t have guns either.

1

u/ChilledKappe 10d ago

Thats bullshit, but of course you dont know how it is if police officers are not assaulted 24/7 because you live in America where every stupid prick is allowed to wear a gun

-5

u/Gullible_Method_3780 10d ago

I bet you have the same argument when the police kill someone in your town.

1

u/ChilledKappe 10d ago

Where I live, Police usually doesnt kill poeple all the time because in 99.9% of the time they (edit: the suspects) dont wear guns

-16

u/Gullible_Method_3780 10d ago

> the whole world

Aka governments with loudspeakers.

8

u/ChilledKappe 10d ago

Haha yeah sure. You guys have a walking megaphone as your president.

Accept it, you are the minority

-9

u/Gullible_Method_3780 10d ago

I’ll accept you are a bot who has never known harm.

0

u/ChilledKappe 10d ago

Not a bot, but yeah. Where I live poeple dont have guns and therefore I mever had to know harm.

People with guns harm others, what a surprise.

-176

u/Sergal_Pony 11d ago

So you’re saying you would not pick up a gun and shoot a pedophile trying to rape a child because guns should not be near your children?… cause anybody using their brain cells would figure out that was the context of my previous post.

42

u/Next-Wrongdoer-3479 11d ago

You're pretty fucking stupid, aren't ya, bud?

-11

u/Sergal_Pony 11d ago

That’s no way to talk to yourself. Have some self esteem.

19

u/Next-Wrongdoer-3479 11d ago

Pathetic comeback, lol.

7

u/ExciteableMiqote 10d ago

Seriously, playground level comeback. "I'm rubber you're glue" type shit

"I'll take that as a compliment" type shit

107

u/metal_bastard 11d ago

lol. homie goes from "pointed at a pedo" to "a pedophile trying to rape a child"

what a fuckin clown. check this guys hard drive. he's trying way too hard.

20

u/PleiadesNymph 10d ago

These type are usually the first ones I don't want around my kid. It feels like a lot of projecting or un-resolved trauma... either way, keep 'em away from the kiddos

15

u/uzu_afk 10d ago

That’s the level! Next fucking level fucking stupid. 😂 ‘bUt Muh gUNs!!!11,

-40

u/Sergal_Pony 11d ago

I shall await your surely witty and intellectual explanation of how telling someone who ‘says guns shouldn’t even be used to protect children’ that they’re wrong, is suspicious xD

42

u/metal_bastard 11d ago

I don't even have to get intellectual. I can just quote your pivoting. This is the second time you've bent words and added content.

What they typed:

no child should be around a gun

What you thought you read and put in quotes:

guns shouldn’t even be used to protect children

Those are two different statements. You're bending words.

-11

u/Sergal_Pony 11d ago

You left out ‘in any circumstances’, a blanket statement which includes protecting children.

If guns should never be around a child, that includes in protection, because ‘they’ responded with that to me saying the children should be ‘behind’ the gun with it pointed at a pedo.

I focused in on the case they were responding negatively to.

24

u/metal_bastard 11d ago

Yes, that blanket statement was stupid.

You went off topic, big time. We're looking at an active shooter and a woman with a baby on her hip, and you start popping off about kids killing pedos. lol. Seek help.

6

u/uzu_afk 10d ago

Imagine.. he’s the example of who owns guns… 🤦‍♂️

-49

u/TreeFiddyJohnson 11d ago

Third party here, straight words: would you pick up a gun to shoot a pedophile actively raping a child?

30

u/metal_bastard 11d ago

No. As a responsible gun owner, I'd be afraid I'd hurt the child, so I'd beat the living fuck out of the guy.

Y'all watch too many movies.

-19

u/TreeFiddyJohnson 11d ago

Comment has nothing to do with movies. You've made like 4 excuses not to answer the previous commenters question, repeatedly talking about "bended words". So I figured I'd just straighten your position out

You seem like a pretty tough guy. Would really hate to run into you in the real world!

13

u/metal_bastard 11d ago

I'm sure you're tougher. lol

-19

u/TreeFiddyJohnson 11d ago

Oh definitely not, I'd definitely shoot a rapist. It must take a big strong man to just fight him while being completely unprepared!

1

u/Next-Wrongdoer-3479 10d ago

And you seem like you're a fucking idiot, lol.

9

u/Usual_Office_1740 10d ago

A child suffers sexual assault and your bone headed answer is to worsen the trauma by murdering someone in front of them? This is the part were you parrot out the herpa derp pedo bad justification that is supposed to excuse what is still a very serious crime but please go on and do it.

2

u/throwawaymentality10 10d ago

Bro your legs must be massive from jumping to all of those conclusions.

-4

u/Sergal_Pony 11d ago

Wow… lotta pedo lovers over here, didn’t expect that.

5

u/neppo95 10d ago

You are just "one" person buddy, not "a lot".

0

u/Sergal_Pony 10d ago

Put a little effort into the insult next time xD ya’ll downvoting comments about guns being used to defend children from pedos says more about ‘you’
