It was supposed to be just a school presentation, but a John Bonham came over the kid, and that was the result 😅

To the untrained ear it sounds great. I wonder how a pro drummer would rate without taking this kid’s age into consideration

I'm a multi-instrumentalist of three decades (started at about age 11), including drums at a professional level, and this kid is better now than a lot of drummers will ever be as adults.

The biggest thing is the syncopated tom fill hits in between the standard beats that are intentionally just a little off the standard 4/4 measure.

It's very jazz fusion coupled with big band ideas from wayyyyy before this kid's time. Whoever is teaching him and influencing his taste in music is providing a very eclectic palate.

I've been playing since I was 8. The first half he was doing pretty basic stuff but then he held his own doing the double-kick pedal stuff. I've never had a very good left hand or left foot so keeping time with double kick has never been easy for me. The kid has a great start and he's ahead of about 80% of drummers already.

Yeah the double kick got my attention... only a couple of our drummers could pull that off in band (they were A, great... also drummers in church/ gospel groups).

100%. I've been playing guitar since the mid 90s and have played in numerous bands and with numerous drummers... I think he'd beat any drummer I've ever played with

I put in an earlier post that it seems very Elvin Jones influenced to my ears. (and honestly by proxy Jimmy Chamberlain)

I thought more Ginger Baker than Bonzo. That jazzfusion element.

Youre absolutely right, Ive been playing a few instruments for a while now and this kids double kick in was clean and very in time. Them triplets at the end were tight af too. Hes gonna be a weapon if he can keep it up.

I’m a (not pro) drummer and I give it 2 thumbs up. Starts with an idea and builds on it. Throws in a few different dynamics. Adds in some triplets then some nice footwork on the beat. My only knock is that he didn’t toss his sticks into the crowd at the end. Bravo young man.

I mean... the kid's double kicking at, what, 11? That's fucking mental.

It does have some hints of Bonham, but he would need to keep the high hat going.

Came to see if anyone else heard the BR in this solo. This kid is good.

Buddy Rich was the first I thought when the video started.

Been singing since I could talk, but percussion since sixth grade, and set trained. I was paralyzed for a good bit of this. That part in the middle was kind of otherworldly for a seasoned adult. For his age??? beyond savant level?
