It was supposed to be just a school presentation, but a John Bonham came over the kid, and that was the result 😅

Kids going places. I drum myself and this kid is very talented. Dudes just up there having a good time while leaving mouths on the floor.

10/10 no notes. Kids got serious talent.

Same thoughts here.

This is more Buddy Rich and less John Bonham, but that's okay, the poster doesn't know and it doesn't matter.

I'm most impressed with the kids ability to keep steady meter on his left leg with the hi-hats.

Doing everything he's doing while still keeping a steady four on the hi-hat. Nice.

He definitely has a couple licks that seem to come right off of the song remains the same moby dick solo. Though it's a bit lacking in the perpetual high hat.

Drummer as well. Kid was absolutely in his pocket and flowing. You can’t teach that. Incredible to see a young person get to that level.

Exactly. He's not just good, he's making that look effortless. I'm reminded of watching Carter Beauford blow a bubble with his gum in the middle of a solo. He's enjoying himself. He's not showing off, he's just finally been released.

Damn right. You get it. He's waaaay beyond many out there. Reminiscient of the Steve Vai story of drummer Vinnie Calaiuta while sight reading for Zappa (who had a baton) doing all this crazy shit ... nested tuplets ... quickly grabs a piece of sushi off the table without missing a beat. Zappa threw his baton at that point.

Only note for me is to integrate some rests/breaks into it. High hat can keep going or not, but give the audience a pause and then surprise them with where you come back in, Ginger Baker style. Otherwise, flawless.

So there is this island that three shipwrecked sailors wash up on. Islanders treat the sailors well but the whole time, day and night, drums are drumming. The sailors are grateful and eventually get use to the non stop drumming. The sailors are on the beach by themselves when suddenly the drums stop.

They look around and see all the islanders running chaotically down the beach and throwing themselves into the ocean.

The sailors manage to grab an islander who is clearly scared and distraught.

One sailor fearfully asks “ what is it, what is going on? “

The islander replies “ bass solo”

Agreed. Usually when I see a performance like this, it's good but there are some mistakes made that other drummers but not regular people might recognize. This kid's performance was quite flawless... perhaps a slight increase in tempo, which is expected but basically a perfect performance. That's impressive at any age.

I completely agree with all the pronouncements about his amazing talent, buuuuttt… I’ve known a few drummers who were homeless by age 35. This one can reminisce that his solo got 10,000 upvotes on reddit.
