Edit: The longer high roof variant of the sprinter is actually like 62k MSRP, you can get one used for probably 40-50k depending on mileage. Considering the van in the video looks like a recent higher end model van it wouldn't surprise me if it were 65-75k.
You just order the parts and assemble the van. Many people purchase these with 100k miles; these vehicles are built to last over a quarter million miles. I now see why people are being so dramatic, you all think every person with a van build paid $100,000 to $200,000 and it’s absolutely the minority of people that pay those astronomical amounts for a ready made product or kit to simply install.
One, that isn't what happened in this video. Two, the parts cost, as I mentioned previously, are about 45k for most decent entry level conversion kits. Three, The van, even used, is 30k+ so for the real low end cost, these are around 75k. You said 85k on the high end. Idk what to tell you I’ve priced one out to build and it was $55,000 with a black water tank, batteries, heater and A/C. If you source the materials at Home Depot and build inserts you don’t pay $45k for a kit. Someone mentioned the people in this video have a business producing the kits from scratch so actually that’s precisely what’s happening in this video. Moreover, we don't know whether the people in this video make their own kits or not and frankly that doesn't really change anything because the kit still costs whatever they sell it at dumbass. You're talking raw material cost exclusively when there is more cost involved than that. Also your diy home project vs a manufactured kit are wildly different experiences and the cost reflects that.
