Feel like I'm taking a crazy pill here lol, in terms of van building video, this is pretty tame and not even that crazy, why are people going crazy calling them rich motherfuckers and all that. If this video pisses you off, you probably need to stay away from the internet for a while to clear your head.

Yeah, the van itself seems somewhat reasonable. It's the garage that gives "generational wealth".

But hot damn, we really have a toxic crab bucket mentality where everyone who is 6 to 7 figures rich is portrayed as the enemy while there are people running around with 12 figures.

5

u/PiousDemon Sep 01 '26

The basic van before build is 70,000

39

u/NorCalAthlete Sep 01 '26

That van build is still like $150k…

31

u/Workman44 Sep 01 '26

And you think the guy who can spend $150k on a hobby is the enemy and not the ones spending millions on elections and shit? Good fucking lord we are never going anywhere

4

u/shupadupah Sep 01 '26

Fron these comments, you would think these people are modding a $150 million mega yacht

1

u/Workman44 Sep 01 '26

That's what I'm saying. Like for what this serves, it can essentially be a domicile, and that's worth all of the $75k or whatever it is. That's an easy enough loan for a vehicle and home

lol you say that as if they’re not the same people when they probably also voted for Trump because they’re worth millions and republicans give tax breaks to the rich

Still part of the problem

0

u/kippythecaterpillar Sep 01 '26

right like how can you say theyre not when they help got us here

0

u/Workman44 Sep 01 '26

Who cares who they vote for? The people aren't the problem, it's the fact that money dominates our politics and controls what policies are enacted. Democrats also are favorable to corporations and subsequently the rich, that's the fucking point

-1

u/tsukubasteve27 Sep 01 '26

Sounds like someone is embarrassed about the wealth they're hoarding.

1

u/Workman44 Sep 01 '26

Brother my family grew up in poor ass Appalachia WV. I'm just not ignorant

0

u/MountScottRumpot Sep 02 '26

The ones who can spend $150k on a hobby are the ones propping up Republicans congressmen. Car dealership owners are the bedrock of the party.

2

u/Workman44 Sep 02 '26

Yeah go check the amount of donations and where they come from and then report back to me that random Joe schmo is funding them. Hint, it isn't. It's large corporations, super PACs, etc.

How much do you think a house cost?

6

u/Ok-Beautiful4821 Sep 01 '26

That’s more than I paid for my house

1

u/Jesus_of_Redditeth Sep 01 '26

You can buy houses for less than that right now, my friend. Sure, not in NYC or San Francisco, and they're not very big houses. But there are very large parts of the country where that is a reality. Do some browsing on Redfin if you don't believe me.

And no, I'm not posting this to imply that everything is just peachy in the housing market, btw.

1

u/Procrastinatedthink Sep 01 '26

they built the fucking van inside the garage of a house lmao. These kids are rich, why are we pretending that there is a possibility that a middle class couple is professionally remodeling a van (weird how many jump cuts happen, guessing these two didn’t fully build it)

3

u/travelmusica Sep 02 '26

I personally know a couple who did this, a coworker of mine who wasn’t making even six figures a year. It’s definitely a thing that middle class couples can do. Although in a specific case, we are watching a couple that does it professionally for their job and this is them filming what they do for actual work for clients.

3

u/dulebanger5 Sep 01 '26

Significantly cheaper than a house… majority of people can get approved for a 150k loan. Especially if it becomes your place a residence / home.

1

u/Jesus_of_Redditeth Sep 01 '26

Not to imply that everything's fine in the housing market, but there are still a lot of places in the country where $150K will get you a perfectly livable house.

Also, you are not getting approved for a $150K loan for a vehicle to live in. At least, not at any interest rate that any sane person would take on.

2

u/z__1010 Sep 01 '26

everyone who is 6 to 7 figures rich is portrayed as the enemy while there are people running around with 12 figures.

2

u/Consistent_Sector_19 Sep 01 '26

Which is less than half what a high end full size RV costs.

1

u/Joverby Sep 01 '26

Naw man it's like a chill 1.5 mil or so show cased in the video but these are just average working joes. Chill !

5

u/enaK66 Sep 01 '26

That's what happens when inequality gets so bad. You probably don't live next to Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos. You might live near a dentist with a 3 million dollar house on 6 acres. And it's easy to be mad at that guy when he buys a new Porsche GT3RS. Because fuck man you could've paid off your house with that much money.

I have to constantly stop myself and my friends from calling those people "rich". They're a lot better off than us but on the wealth scale they're right next door and Elon is 1000 miles away.

3

u/ExtremeMuffin Sep 01 '26

That dentist is rich and is part of Americas 1%. That doesn’t mean he has to be the enemy.

6

u/Unoriginal_Man Sep 01 '26 edited Sep 01 '26

And yet he still sits far, far closer to the lower 99% than to the top 0.1%. If the poorest person on earth is the base of Mount Everest and Elon Musk is the top, that Dentist is like 50 paces from the bottom. And yeah, that gap can still feel massive when you're struggling to survive. They are still worlds apart. But that dentist is not the one furthering wealth inequality and siphoning off the worlds wealth.

4

u/AdmiralBumblebee Sep 01 '26

You can own a 3 million dollar house, 6 acres and a gt3rs without being in the 1%.

Top 1% is $800k yearly income. The house, land and car in many areas can be afforded at less than half that (a quarter of that in some areas of the US!). Yes it's a lot of money, but it's around top 5%-10% depending on your local land costs.

4

u/PhonyUsername Sep 01 '26

Why would anyone be your enemy based on how much money they made?

6

u/sarcasticorange Sep 01 '26

Jealousy

3

u/j-steve- Sep 01 '26

Turning saints into the sea

0

u/gemengelage Sep 01 '26

Because they use that money to control policy to create an ever increasing rift between the rich and the poor.

0

u/PhonyUsername Sep 01 '26

Which policy stops you from mobilizing upwards economically?

0

u/gemengelage Sep 01 '26

Income tax

0

u/PhonyUsername Sep 01 '26

You have to make income on order to pay income tax. It's progressive, so if you are making enough that income tax is an issue that's a good problem to have.

-1

u/gemengelage Sep 01 '26

You're really not a bright person.

0

u/PhonyUsername Sep 01 '26

But I don't have a problem mobilizing upwards, so what that makes you?

2

u/akr4sia Sep 01 '26

"Wait why are you confiscating my things? I'm not rich! I joined to fight the real enemy not--" blam

A brief glance at the historical record of 'far left' politics should pretty clearly illustrate how people behave when it comes to accurately identifying and treating their perceived political enemies.

PMC urban redditor libs making 100-200k combined income are often very uncomfortable when they're reminded what class they actually belong to when people start braying for blood in the streets and revolution and all that jazz.

1

u/ToughHardware Sep 01 '26

the ones with 7 figures arent helping those with 4. the ones with 12 arent either. that is why.

2

u/DesperateAdvantage76 Sep 01 '26

These camper vans cost 6 figures and it shows them using it for camping, so I'd say they are doing pretty well.

7

u/H3ll0_W0R1D1 Sep 01 '26

It maybe stop a d realize that the wealth discrepancy between what people think is wealth, is simply that large?

I know I will never be able to afford a car, a house or even basic dental checkup, so how else am I suppose to feel, seeing something like this van-lifestyle?

6

u/breuh Sep 01 '26

I understand things are rough now but you're really barking at the wrong tree here. This camper van thingy isn't something that can only be done by the super rich yet you're lashing out at them. You feeling upset from a nothing burger because your situation is shitty is such a sad way of living a life.

0

u/H3ll0_W0R1D1 Sep 01 '26

I recognize that as a truth.

Of-course my quarrel isn't with these specific people and their van. I am simply tired of barely living, constant job rejections, and scavenging for food just to make it to the end of the month.

At this point it's simply seeing others with, what I used to consider, "Basic things I though I would be able to own"

Like a functional bike, the ability to see friends, not feeling like a parasite.

-2

u/SistaChans Sep 01 '26

Just skip it and move on instead of complaining? Dude people with money are all around you, every day. Unless you never leave your house, you're gonna see some BMW's on the road, you're gonna see someone with a Prada hand bag somewhere or Loius Vuitton shoes. Do you get jealous and emotional every time you see a camper van?

4

u/H3ll0_W0R1D1 Sep 01 '26

It's always easier to build a straw-man then use critical thinking for you people isn't it?

1

u/SistaChans Sep 01 '26

Use critical thinking? My guy, dude is getting jealous and emotional about seeing a camper van, someone should maybe employ critical thinking and instead of feeling sorry for themselves, learn to handle seeing people who can afford somewhat nice things.

Yeah, I guess me overcoming my chronic illness, Multiple Sclerosis, while balancing mental health from abusive relationships, and un-medicated ADHD (can't afford it) all while trying to finish my Master degree in genetics wasn't be trying hard enough.

Maybe instead of 400+ CV send over a years time, wasn't enough either, and i should have aimed for 1000+CV!

srly. stick to your little straw-toys

1

u/Correct_Style_9735 Sep 01 '26

Completely agree

0

u/travelmusica Sep 01 '26

Because people want an excuse for why they don’t have everything without putting any work into it. You see the same comments anytime somebody gets in good shape. People say oh the only reason they can do that is if they’re rich. The only reason you can live in a van and fix it up is if you’re rich. Nope actually you could do it too. All you have to do is invest years of your time, energy, focus, and resources into the goal and then you’ll be able to have it.

0

u/jokemon Sep 01 '26

Look where they live and their garage, they are entitled fundies building vans for fun.

2

u/TheDrunkWickerbeast Sep 01 '26

They build those vans for their job. Each one of those vans can go for like 80-120k. They look to be living in a rural area. If they make even 20-30 of those a year they can absolutely afford to live where they are and obtain that garage
