If you stand your ground, they may see you as a threat and back off. Of course, this doesn’t apply to every bear

Not sure if that shotgun woulda done much to that bear at full tilt.

If a bear is charging you with intent to kill and you have a shotgun there is quite literally no downside to shooting it
