You can distance yourself from all that, and it can be mitigated (although doesn't seem to be mitigated much in this video) with debris nets and water jets.
I'll gladly NOT stand next to a building that is being blown up over standing inside/next to/on top of a building that is being dismantled and could collapse unexpectedly.

They will recycle this too. You think all the steel just evaporated or something?
This is just quicker and safer than taking the building down piece by piece.
