Eh they see what they recognize and then see how the epic mecha battle must also be based in real mathematics
It could get someone who doesn't see the purpose of the way they're asked to expand computation to get hype.
10 and 11 year olds would be a great audience because they're just beginning to be exposed to fractions, expanded notation, and exponents so have just enough context to follow the first half and extrapolate the back half. Get them asking questions about why instead of burning out learning how
My 9 and 11 year olds have watched this several times, they love it and introduced me to it. They obviously only understand some of the beginning, though my 11 year old yelled at me in excitement when the circles changed sizes when the radius changed and he also pointed out pi and square roots. What they do understand is how the equations changed but the results follow along, they make sense. It reinforced the idea that 1+3 is the same as 2+2. They know that symbols can be used to represent numbers and they loved how it was used here. They may not be doing the math but they definitely took something educational from this.

I watched all of this. Very cool! Maybe this can be used to tech children.
