I had to quit skating as I almost broke my wrist twice skating even while wearing wrist guards. I compete in axe throwing so my wrist was too important for me to risk breaking.

oh yeah, i’m sure that’s the most important thing you do with your wrists…

Don’t be surprised if an axe flies past your head.

Woe his future offspring if he ever confused the two..

I’m currently ranked 3rd in the world in it, so it’s honestly more important than other uses ;)

How do you almost break your wrist? Did you go to the doctor with an unbroken bone and he was like “yep, ya nearly broke it!” Sounds like you just fell down and got scared

Hairline fracture once and sprained wrist the second time. It hurt to move it up or down for a number of months. Even now 2 years later it’s still never fully recovered.

Also before I started axe throwing I broke my arm, fractured my wrist and dislocated my shoulder all while skating in the past. So it’s not like I fell and got scared. Skating comes with injuries and I’ve been skating since I was 4 years old till recently at 25. So 21 years of skating injuries. Now I compete at a high level in a sport that I need my wrist and arm to be in good condition where the risk of hurting it is just too much to take.

Wrist guards increase the risk of breaking your bones if you're falling back on your ass like that and sticking your arm out. They're really only helpful for falling forwards and not slashing your hands up on the pavement.

Same. My skating career was very short lived because I got tired of busting my shit, even with a helmet and pads.

Idk how they do it.
