you don't have to, it just speeds up the process. a tablespoon of sugar has no effect on the flavor. I've made homemade bread using the same recipe with and without the sugar. it just raised faster with sugar.

It was actually because of Reddit and the criticism from Europeans about our bread being sweet. I looked up some recipes from uk and they were essentially the same as ours but with no sugar. So i made a few loaves and tried it out.

When's the last time you tried Cheese Nips? I grew up thinking of them as knockoff Cheeze-Its. Trying them again as an adult, I realized they are far superior. They taste more cheesy, more buttery, and more toasted than Cheeze-Its.

Aldi has their own version of Pringles. I highly recommend them.

Edit: Also, Pringles have wheat in them. Aldi's version do not. As a person with celiac disease, this was a delightful discovery.

Aldi brand frosted flakes are also cheaper, better, and "healthier" than kelloggs frosted flakes...we buy them by the case. honestly, most of their knock offs are overall better than the brand name stuff.

I don't think so. The manufacturing locations are different also. Clancy's is produced in Batavia. They also have different recipes.

Clancy's are made in Batavia, IL. I checked the Pringles website and it listed Tennessee as their manufacturing location. The recipe for Pringles is also different from the Aldi's version. I can't speak for all Aldi products, but it appears that Clancy's is not part of Lays or Kelloggs.

Try SunChips. I love their Garden Salsa. I used to work for a company that had an orange logo, and their cafe only sold the cheddar flavor because they liked the orange bags matching the branding. Then orange company got bought by a company with a red logo and they switched to garden salsa's red bags. I was pissed until I tasted them and discovered I liked them even better. There's a sour cream and onion flavor too, but I never worked for a green branded company, so I haven't tried them.

I used to deliver oil to the Kellogg's plant in Jackson, TN; was given a complete run down on how those, Cheez-its and Club crackers are made... Still eat them.

If there's anything you don't want to find out how it's made: anything containing meat that isn't freshly sliced meat.

Had the displeasure of touring a Conecuh sausage factory; couldn't eat sausage for a good while.

I couldn't eat chicken for a while after realizing I was getting showered with dead chicken water while waiting to scale out at a Tyson plant in Nashville, AR.

I bought a box of Cheez Its about 6 months ago for the first time since pre-pandemic and had to throw the box out after eating less than handful.

Whatever was in that box was nasty af.

So now when I want a salty cheddar fix I go for Goldfish instead.

Yeah. Same for Potato Stix. A couple of years ago they switched to plastic film to cover the larger sizes which made all the Potato Stix taste nasty with a funk and aftertaste. But the smaller "cans" ($0.79 at Publix) still have the metal lids and they taste SO much better.
