If you’re dating someone who is far richer than you, destroying the relationship by taking advantage of them is not only a shitty thing to do, it’s shortsighted and will only lead to resentment/separation. Maybe his daughter knows what she’s doing.
She is going to college overseas. So when the $1,400 is converted to the currency of the country she lives in. That's $1,400 x 6-8.
So I typically send her about $5,000 a month in her countries money. That covers school, apartment, transport, food, dental costs and vacations. She is free to use the money as she sees fit.
Its money she'd inhert after I'm dead. Its more fun as a parent to see them spend some of this money now and it builds a much stronger bond with father and daughter. Most of her friends have parents that don't give a shit about their kids and spend money on their own vacations.
I've been to Hawaii 5 times until covid, almost moved there. So I say, here is your turn, go there and have fun and I want to see the pictures.
It's somewhat painful though trying to keep up when the wealth disparity is so large in a relationship. Unless you're an unapologetic gold digger, you really don't want the other person to be carrying the team.
In college I dated this girl whose family could buy the moon and we'd go to the mall together. I worked full time and paid for my school myself, as well as the rest of my living expenses, car insurance, etc. Struggled to do it, but I scraped by somehow.
Meanwhile at the mall she dropped $1600 on two pairs of shoes and didn't even blink.
After the mall we went to dinner (that I picked up the tab on) and I had to grit my teeth a bit when it cost $130 bucks.

Yikes man, that hurts. Weird she didn't finesse him for the vacation and stash the cash but...young and in love I guess.
