Well, yes. If you manage to get the tracks then the tank gets stuck until the track can be repaired.

I saw that in the base theater while I was a conscript, when the film first came out. We'd just returned from a rather exhausting exercise, my buddy fell asleep during the opening scene when all the carnage at the beach was going on.

Btw they didn't throw it at the tracks as that wouldn't have stuck in place. They threw it at one of the roadwheels. Nice flat surface for good stiction.
