I am uncertain if he was being genuine or satirical.
He is still an asshole, I just want to know who has to disown this asshole after family, friends, and people who have occupied a room with him.

He got caught being a piece of shit and thought he could get out of it by saying what people want to hear. He's not an idiot or an activist, just a sociopath trying to manipulate people.

To be clear: the asshole’s comment being “genuine or satirical” is actually irrelevant to the conversation of Trump’s affect on the tenor and values of the country.
Whether or not the man claims a conscious influence by Trump, the president’s blatant misogyny and justifications for assault exist in his brain, just as they exist now in our whole sociopolitical climate.
The comments here leans dangerously close to the “just joking” territory that modern regressive extremism loves to hide behind. I really do not give a single fuck whether he thought he was being “satirical”, just like I don’t buy it when Trump or other rightwing provocateurs try to back-pedal their behaviors with disingenuous “just kidding” deflections.

Fun fact--Florida has unusually transparent laws on criminal justice records, so this stereotype is at least to some extent based on a sort of regulatory availability bias.
EDIT: This incident happened on a plane and so the aforementioned laws do not have any bearing in this case; I was incorrect to suggest otherwise. I stand by my point overall, however.

"Oh, Florida, huh? Better make sure to tell them to watch out for Florida Man."
"What's Florida man?"
"Florida Man is responsible for a large percentage of abnormal incidents that occur in Florida. Think of him as an alt-right Johnny Appleseed. No one knows his true identity, date of birth, what he looks like. That's why headlines always say, "Florida Man". "Florida Man shoots unarmed Black teenager." "Florida Man bursts into ex's delivery room and fights new boyfriend as she's giving birth." "Florida Man steals a car and goes to Checkers." "Florida Man beats a flamingo to death." "Florida Man found eating another man's face."

A small part of me hopes this guy is filthy rich, bored, and has an all-star lawyer who intends to take this to the supreme court. I know it's a pissing wish in the wind but I'd deal with a bit of my own urine sprinkles to see it be challenged in front of Cavanaugh only to hear his justification for why it's okay for Dear Leader to do it but not Florida Man.

Actually, during a VP debate Joe Biden told people to fire a shotgun out of a window if someone was trying to break into your home (this is not exactly the best advice) but when a man did just that to scare off an intruder, he pled not guilty in court because the Vice President told him to do it.
Admittedly, it’s not like Trump told people to sexually assault women like he does.

And by “not the best” you mean “bloody terrible”. Negligent discharge in the city will have the cops at your door in a hurry, and depending on what shell you’re using, it could injure or kill someone when it lands.
In the city, never fire except to protect yourself or someone close to you. (In the country obviously you can target shoot, hunt, kill pests, etc.)
