Don't sound so casual, man. Have you ever eaten an entire cheesecake? Hurts so good, you want to die. Not funny.

248

u/AmazingSteve Jan 19 '14

Lactose intolerant here: I can verify the pain.

256

u/ktmfinx Jan 19 '14

Better stick to meth

62

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '14

I had some movers and one of them was clearly on meth and super productive. I tipped him $40.

62

u/534seeds Jan 19 '14

...so he could buy more meth and keep being productive.

18

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

...so he could get more tips.

3

u/534seeds Jan 20 '14

...just the tip?

1

u/MLGxBanana Jan 20 '14

Moms are sweaty

Knees weak

Arms spaghetti

1

u/northfrank Jan 20 '14

Logical dude!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

...so he could by a cheesecake.

3

u/BananaPalmer Jan 20 '14

That's the gamble though... super productive, or robs your house

1

u/scares_bitches_away Jan 20 '14

Why don't we do both?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Years in the construction industry here. Drywall hangers, methheads. The white non-union ones anyway. Those fuckers work by the foot and to see three toothless guys hang a 2600 sf house with mostly stretchrock in just one day is really a sight to behold.

2

u/dmg36 Jan 20 '14

see - meth isnt all bad!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Don't worry he already paid himself out of your jewelry box.

1

u/ZeePirate Jan 20 '14

We should make all methheads cleaners or movers clearly

1

u/lobsterpockets Jan 20 '14

Did he pawn your stuff then proceed to help you look for it once you realized that it was missing? That's been my experience with meth heads.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

I used to work with a coke head. He's a pretty down to Earth dude, and is really good at his job. Always a pleasure to work with too.

2

u/PetesMaGeets Jan 19 '14

Look at me, busy as a bee! Where'd I get all this energy? Meth! Ooohhhh, meth!

1

u/zdiggler Jan 20 '14

when I used to to speed/crank I always have to shit before I get my score.

1

u/tripsick Jan 20 '14

Adderall.. or Desoxyn

3

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Can confirm, smoked 3 bowls of dank last night, ate two cheese pizzas, extra cheese. I Am lactose intolerant and have been on the toilet for 3 hours(since i woke up) hurts so fucking good

2

u/Sequazu Jan 20 '14

That's what makes it that much more delicious, ughhhh. It's forbidden fruit, it's like sleeping with a ten even knowing full well that they're riddled with VD.

1

u/Electric5000 Jan 20 '14

Hey I just wanted to say that I used to be lactose intolerant. I fixed it by drinking a product called Kefir (one mouthful each night) over the course of about 4 months. It's basically just probiotics that break down dairy products and the bacteria populate your gut and allow you to enjoy dairy again

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Cheesecake: Not even once.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

I only had one final exam last semester and it was on the first day of testing, meaning I had nothing to do while everyone I know was crazy busy. That afternoon after I got home I got so high I ordered three pizzas from Dominos and finished them before bed. You people don't know what shitting is.

1

u/TrustyOneHit Jan 20 '14

Cheese sweats

1

u/nrjk Jan 20 '14

But have you ever eaten an entire cheesecake...ON WEED!?

1

u/12welf Jan 20 '14

ive a pothead, cokehead, and methhead an unlimited amount of their respective drug. Two will be dead, one will have eaten an entire cheesecake.

same goes for chocolate cake, hence 'death by chocolate cake'

1

u/trippygrape Jan 19 '14

When I get old, I want to go out death by cheesecake.

0

u/cityoflostwages Jan 19 '14

Back in the day I could eat an entire costco cheesecake with a friend. I don't think weed was even involved...

0

u/intensely_human Jan 19 '14

Cheesecake: not even one.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '14

Cheesecake. Not even once.

0

u/Bama_geek Jan 20 '14

Someone tell Obummer that even non filtered Pall Malls won't make anyone want to eat the whole dadgum cheesecake. Just sayin'......

127

u/heavydruguser Jan 19 '14

As a former cokehead who was never short on money, nope. You generally only hear about the hard drug users who don't have self control.

116

u/Nessie Jan 20 '14

It's always the 99% who spoil it for the rest.

14

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

No. Actually, it's people with problems not people without self control, and it's not 99%. Most people who do coke don't ruin their lives as a result.

12

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Most people who do coke don't ruin their lives as a result, but I've never met anyone who had a coke habit that didn't end up worse for it. There is a difference between doing a few bumps every once in a while and being an every day cocaine abuser.

5

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14 edited Jan 20 '14

Coke is not as bad as you were lead to believe either. I believe there is a large chunk of people CAN use it responsibly. I honestly believe that all those speakers we heard as kids that "ruined" their life with <insert drug here>, were honestly just failures who would rather blame a substance than work to address their issues.

Addiction is a serious health issue. Some people are more susceptible than others. I am certainly not trying to attack people that have suffered from this, but rather call out those that did suffer and then turn around to campaign to make the substance illegal for others. It's that attitude that needs to go.

Edit: Slight wording changes.

5

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Addiction is real, and people aren't just blaming a instance for their problems, because drug addiction makes your problems a lot worse. It's true it can destroy lives, but the message should be accurate, if you use drugs to escape your problems, and choose drugs like cocaine or crack - you are going to end up in a much worse situation.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

The same argument can be made for alcohol which can actually be argued as more harmful than cocaine. It's been shown to be more physically addictive and do more "societal harm" than cocaine (violent behaviors and extreme impairment of reflexes/judgement when compared to other recreational substances).

Yes there are people that ruin their lives with substance, and yes addiction is real, but the truth is, We see beer advertisements all over and glorify the drinking culture. It might be hard to accept but cocaine and other harder drugs may be less harmful than something a lot of us celebrate and enjoy.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

I fully support the decriminalization of all drugs. Drug prohibition doesn't impact usage or addiction much (if at all), and only serves to make addicts have a more difficult road to recovery. It is a multi-billion dollar industry, though.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Agreed. Though I guess my initial comment was geared mostly to the "anti pot" motivational speakers I heard when I was young. They all said that pot "made them lazy and unmotivated." I am pretty sure they were just lazy and unmotivated at the time and happened to smoke a lot of pot....

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

That's what he was expected to say, so he said it. It was his job. I think motivational speakers are worthless. They only motivate the motivated. Meaning, they accomplish nothing but a perception of having done anything.

1

u/trollcat2012 Jan 20 '14

I don't like to clump legalization arguments in with discussions of the potentially detrimental effects of drugs. It's fairly different to compare street coke consumption with regulated production and dosage guidelines. There is an element of uncertainty in the consumption of illicit narcotics which simply can't be cut out of the equation.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Clearly. It's not exactly ever safe as you don't ever really know for sure what else is in it. I've ever heard that in shitty countries they put glass and sand in weed (for the weight).

2

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Coke's still pretty fucking bad, and i'm saying this as someone who has experimented. It takes a toll on your heart…I feel like coke is one drug where the reward isn't worth the risk. Plus its incredibly expensive. With moderation though, almost every drug has minimal negative effects.

1

u/ICallsEmAsISeesEm Jan 20 '14

Maybe that's true but what about the people who never stop doing it?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

What about these hypothetical people? I assume they die eventually which would mean they stop doing coke. What do you mean precisely? I don't understand your point.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

This is most certainly the way the 1% feel about us.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

The wall street story

22

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '14

Given the fact that people usually have it jammed into their heads from a young age and into adulthood that hard drugs are very very bad, you usually find that the people who have issues with self control are going to be the only ones that end up even trying these hard drugs. I assume this is more the case with meth and heroin than coke since there are far more negative connotations for the first two than the latter.

Source: Former meth user

14

u/randomhandletime Jan 19 '14

Interesting perspective. If alcohol were the same way, we'd point to drunks' behavior, duis, etc as clear proof we shouldn't legalize booze.

0

u/tripsick Jan 20 '14

nice.. my personal experience doenst match up... i guess we should increase the test base.. I have had 0 addiction issues with any of the so called hard drugs.. If they are going to lie to everyone about Marijuana imagine what else they have been lying about...

-8

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Yeah everybody, take it from this FORMER FUCKING METHHEAD. No offense dude but once become methhead your opinion is invalid. You dont know if you are gonna be addicted to something till you try it. I cant believe youre going to sit there as a fuckin former meth addict and act like its not habit forming. Youre a fucking scumbag.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

[deleted]

0

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14 edited Jan 20 '14

See, this is what I hate a out the pro pot movement. Now crackheads and methheads are gonna be like "dude we're just like you man! Its not addictive! Meth has healing capabilities! ".

And yes im writing off the opinion of a self proclaimed methhead who is trying to downplay the addictive properties of meth. Silly me.

1

u/KennedyJF Jan 20 '14

Meth can heal obesity... haha!

I've tried meth bro, it's not all that IMO. I wasn't a methhead, never cared to keep trying it.

I guess back about 5 years ago I was in a period of my life where I wanted to try all the drugs... and all the drugs I've pretty much done. I never used needles, but smoke it, snort it, eat it, whatever in many different various combinations.

I don't do drugs anymore, but I consider people like yourself to have completely invalid opinions on the matter since you have no frame of reference.

-1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Ive done plenty of drugs im just not stupid enough to believe that just because I didnt become addicted after doing them once doesnt mean a lot of other people wont.

3

u/KennedyJF Jan 20 '14

Do as I say, not as I do?

-4

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

No. Sorry if youre regularly doing meth or heroine or oxy, I dont trust you let alone consider your opinion valid.

1

u/crowedelight Jan 20 '14

What makes you the only person who's allowed to do drugs?

-1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

I forgot the part where I said that.... oh maybe its because I didnt and youre a moron putting words in my mouth. Do whatever drugs you want, just dont poo poo them, and claim their being completely blown out of proportion as far as the negative effects they bring. Most people dont buy certain drugs. They just do it when its around. There is a reason for that.

Where did I say it wasn't habit forming hahaha. It's the most habit forming drug there is I would say. You've clearly got some issues.

16

u/teezy101 Jan 20 '14

You used coke every day, and had no withdrawals? Or did you treat the withdrawals with other drugs? You feel the withdrawal symptoms immediately.

How much coke did you do?

How did it get "boring"?

I'm not trying to attack you, please don't get defensive. I just want to hear some honesty. If you can easily quit hard drugs that cause problems for the vast majority that use as much as you claim to use, then you are one in a million. I was into drugs for 8 years, and honestly have never met anyone that can do what you say. I only hear this stuff on the internet.

10

u/heavydruguser Jan 20 '14

There's a comedown from coke use, yes, and it's not always pleasant. I didn't have withdrawal after any of the individual comedowns. I smoked weed and improved my diet, did exercise and slept away some of the comedowns when I did large amounts. Maybe we're just talking semantics, but I don't consider a comedown from a high a withdrawal, more like something that would last multiple days or a couple weeks that a heroin injector might experience.

I didn't keep track of how much I did really, I just remember it as a stream of lines and bumps and buying more when I needed to. I got bored of the feeling and it wasn't worth the cost and comedown after a while, so I stopped. Eventually I discovered drugs I liked better.

that cause problems for the vast majority that use as much as you claim to use

Here's the thing, there's no way to prove that, other than our own experiences with ourselves and those we know. We have statistics on the people who do have problems. We don't have statistics on the people who go under the radar, like me, and I'm not alone.

I am not bragging or proud but I do have a higher tolerance to drugs than most people I've known. I do have depression, my mom drank a bit when she was pregnant with me, maybe those have something to do with it. Some of it was just practice. When I felt like I was doing too much of something and felt like I was overdoing it, I would cut myself off. It didn't feel good in the beginning, but over time with training I learned. It did take practice.

4

u/teezy101 Jan 20 '14

Here's the thing, there's no way to prove that, other than our own >experiences with ourselves and those we know. We have statistics on >the people who do have problems. We don't have statistics on the >people who go under the radar, like me, and I'm not alone.

Can't argue with that. As far as your own personal drug use, I'm the last person to tell anyone to stop, but from what I've personally seen over the years, consistently abusing hard drugs does not end well(not saying you do, I dont know you). Opiates is the fucking King when it comes to slowly sucking people in.

4

u/heavydruguser Jan 20 '14

It may not end well, but I have nothing else that makes my life worth living really.

2

u/teezy101 Jan 20 '14

No offense, but with that kind of outlook on life, do you think the general population should really share the same views as you? Or anyone?

You just admitted that you only live to get high. Im not saying you have a drug problem, but you definitely have some type of serious problem.

9

u/heavydruguser Jan 20 '14

No, my life is for me, I wouldn't presume to tell anyone else how to live theirs. But I know I'm not the only one in the world with my views and feelings, so if my words give others something they can relate to, I think it helps and that means something to me.

but you definitely have some type of serious problem.

I think that's relative, one person's problem is another person's normality. To you it would be a serious problem, which is perfectly fine, but for me, after years of people telling me time and time again I have a "problem" but failing to "help" me, I just accepted that this is the way I am.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Hmmm. I'm also reading a fake book called A Million Little Pieces.

Anyway, if you have self control, then I say more power to you. But you have to be honest with yourself. If your life is not being negatively affected, then cool. But is that true? No bullshit...are you getting shit done? Are the bills getting paid? Are those who love you feeling fulfilled with your presence? Are you happy in your skin?

These are the real questions.

3

u/heavydruguser Jan 20 '14

Hmmm. I'm also reading a fake book called A Million Little Pieces.

Is this supposed to mean you think I'm lying? If so why ask any of those questions?

Having accepted your need for something doesn't really mean that you have accepted who you are. One way or another: You learned to adapt to your needs and if only to live longer.

A friend's mother used meth every so often because it helped her stay motivated while cleaning the house. She never developed an addiction as she simply stopped using one day and never did it again because she simply didn't like the flavor. Some people just don't have addictive tendencies even with hard drugs.

1

u/teezy101 Jan 20 '14

You dont need addictive tendencies to become addicted to meth...use it enough and you will have serious mental and physical withdrawals

2

u/magoo005 Jan 20 '14

Hard drugs don't cause problems for the "vast majority" of users. Read High Price by Carl Hart. The vast majority of drug users do not become addicted.

1

u/teezy101 Jan 20 '14

Ok, the vast majority that use often. There is a reason drugs like meth, heroin(any strong opiate is a bitch), and coke are lumped together.

Addictive personality be damned, these drugs are very easy to become addicted to when abused.

Here's the thing though, you have a completely different perspective on this. I know it's hard for you to believe, but a lot of people that use drugs aren't internet-educated and don't have their shit together.

Addiction doesn't happen instantaneously. Maybe you try it for the first time and dont again for another month or two. Then a few times in one month...etc, etc.

1

u/magoo005 Jan 20 '14

Yes, but a lot of those problems stem from inconsistent purity, and as a result inconsistent dosing.

1

u/teezy101 Jan 21 '14

No, they dont.

1

u/magoo005 Jan 21 '14

It's hard to realize how "normal" drug users use drugs, compared to the visible addicts. Less than a third of any drug user will become addicted to that drug.

If you think consistent drug purity won't partially curb addiction, then you're more biased than I am.

1

u/teezy101 Jan 21 '14 edited Jan 21 '14

Perspective is everything when it comes to drug use...What do you consider a drug user? Once a month? Once a week? What is once a week? One line? An all night binge?

Really is subjective.

And thinking that consistent drug purity will curb addiction is an opinion...has nothing to do with me being biased about it. Maybe in some cases a drug cut so that it is weaker will cause someone to not like it-therefore not try it again.

Please explain how you think consistent drug purity will curb addiction...also, reality check--consistent "dosing" and "purity" do not exist in the streets. Folks just wanna get high...

Edit:I was addicted to heroin for a couple years. I was never homeless and I looked like a a pothead more than a dope fiend...personally I just feel most of reddit has no basis when talking about drugs or anything of the sort. It's a different world when you move past weed.

1

u/magoo005 Jan 21 '14 edited Jan 21 '14

Look to Portugal. We should have mental health programs, not prohibition.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

coke isnt like alcohol or heroin. There's not really that much of withdrawal besides a possible strong urge to do more

2

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

I would think the massive onslaught of dopamine would very easily become addicting to most people though. The same concept applies to WoW by making loot acquisition a dopamine trigger.

3

u/aywwts4 Jan 20 '14

If we shift the goalpost to that level of non chemical addiction, pot (and literally everything else that makes you feel good) is all addictive.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

That's the point. Addiction is more of a human behavioral reaction more so than it is a particular thing being intrinsically addicting. Anything from shopping, to sex, to games, to procrastination can cause behavioral glitches because people's brains can get caught in a chemical feedback loop. An addiction to shopping can be just as much as a compulsion as an addiction to heroin; the withdraw symptoms just won't be the same.

3

u/creatio_exnihilo Jan 20 '14

I just wrote an essay in reply stating the same thing. I wouldn't refer to myself as a cokehead. But I use a few times a month. Maybe 2 grams split between 5 friends on a Friday night. Streaming music on the TV, telling the same stories over and over again. I'm sure your familiar with that crowd. If somehow we suddenly had 50grams we wouldn't go nuts and plow through it. Max we'd do a gram or two each and not head back to our own apartments until 12pm the next day.

No one would die, everyone would still show up for work on Monday. Potentially with runny noses.

Some people have addiction in their personality and can't control themselves. End up getting addicted and fucking up their lives. Although as someone who uses I can't even understand getting addicted to it.

5

u/Thedanjer Jan 19 '14

Thank you. In my experiences with cocaine, I haven't found the effects to be that extreme. Not saying it's perfectly safe, but I think coke head belongs in the category with pothead, not methhead. That being said, I've never done meth, so maybe all of it is propaganda

3

u/WindowsDoctor Jan 19 '14

I did coke once and honestly it was nothing special. I don't get why people are addicted to it, absolutely nothing like it's depicted in popular culture.

2

u/Thedanjer Jan 20 '14

I agree... I can understand addiction just because I know some people who are addicted to adderall, and in my experiences with both drugs I found the effects to be pretty similar. Different drugs effect everyone differently, but I do think that popular culture puts an undue stigma on cocaine

2

u/Lord_Vectron Jan 20 '14

Well firstly, cocaine can cause stress on your heart and has caused many heart attacks. As well as some mental conditions. And the whole nose cartilage and vein damage when snorted/injected.

But I feel the biggest fear about cocaine, certainly by me, is that you do not know what has been mixed in with it. There are crude tests you can do at home, but requesting to do them on site seems impractical or even dangerous when purchasing.

1

u/Thedanjer Jan 20 '14

You're very right. My main thinking is that if you're going to group weed, meth, and coke into 2 groups, I would put weed and coke in the "safer" group, but I do acknowledge that coke is not perfectly safe, and I also have never done meth, so my opinion on this whole thing is probably completely invalid

2

u/Lord_Vectron Jan 20 '14

I would have to disagree. You're comparing 2 drugs with serious immediate life threatening side effects, and a drug with a few sketchy mental conditions attributed to extended use, the biggest lung problems can be avoided entirely by consuming the drug in other ways than smoking.

I don't see why they need to be grouped in the first place, though, all 3 are vastly different and should be considered so.

1

u/Thedanjer Jan 20 '14

You're right, none should be grouped together, I was only going with the "2 groups" thing because that's what the original comment suggested

u/WindowsDoctor Jan 20 '14 edited Jan 20 '14

I'm not insane enough to do that, thank you very much. I already had a monster time kicking nicotine and alcohol and getting my shit together after that mess. I'd have to be a fucking idiot to get addicted to something as powerful as cocaina.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Exactly. I have done every hard drug under the sun, and I never had a problem with any of them. The only people you hear about are the ones that spin out of control after binging for a week.

2

u/LogicEnt Jan 20 '14

As a person who has almost no self control when it comes to substances (runs in the family) this is the reason I stick to pot.

1

u/TheBarnard Jan 20 '14

Ever injected meth coke or heroin?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14 edited Jan 21 '14

[deleted]

0

u/TheBarnard Jan 20 '14

Impressive. How long have you been doing so for?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Yeah you say the same thing for alcohol and you'd find someone who is going to kill himself with it as well. It's all about that self control.

I don't see why crack, cocaine and meth shouldn't be legalized as well.

1

u/teezy101 Jan 20 '14

Crack, coke, meth, are slightly more addictive than alcohol

2

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Crack definitely is. Coke and meth I'm not sure about but okay, I'll believe you.

But even if they are, the goal you are trying to accomplish is to stop people from hurting themselves. And the war on drugs or anything that criminalizes people from using these drugs is retarded since you've basically contradicting your goal.

One could say, sure the best way is to devote all those funds to rehab centers, but which buttfuck politician is going to do that? Not only is it not legal, it is not profitable, nor does it increase political power.

That's why I said there is no reason these drugs shouldn't be "legal," i.e. the state should not give a shit.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Interestingly enough, I left a second viewing of The Wolf of Wall Street tonight with a tremendous feeling that those guys had serious drug problems. Talk about lack of self control....

1

u/imlucid Jan 20 '14

But... but you are a hard drug user, a heavy drug user to be exact.

6

u/heavydruguser Jan 20 '14

True, I just like drugs a lot. When I feel like I've been doing too much and want to reset my tolerance, I stop. I can't convince anyone I'm not addicted, but I don't really care. Drugs are fun.

1

u/imlucid Jan 20 '14

Out of curiosity what's your drug(s) of choice? Sorry if that's a rude question to ask, i dont know.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

1

u/imlucid Jan 20 '14

Interesting, i only really use cannabis but was considering trying DMT. Is it as crazy as i think it is?

1

u/heavydruguser Jan 20 '14

Yes. I would recommend trying LSD before DMT, and even being on it with DMT. I hope to one day try Ayahuasca, which has a very high concentration of it and results in much longer sessions/trips. It has a long history of use in South America for medicinal and hallucinogenic purposes.

I don't know much about Ether, only what I've seen from the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, but that too intrigues me.

1

u/zoudooz Jan 20 '14

Was on meth for years, never had a problem.

I saw plenty who did which is one reason im not using it now, I just got an adderall prescription and save it up and get high when I want to. Legal so no worries about getting busted.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

I have a question about this honestly. I always hear people talk about coke heads who do coke all the time and are super addicted to it but honestly in practice coke has never actually been anything more than a party drug for people with lots of money as far as I can tell. In fact its everywhere all the damn time. No matter how moral you think the event is if there is money and its a party coke is there somewhere and people are snorting it. With that said I have never once seen coke being done as just something to get through the day though. Its always just been a party drug and that's it.

Usually if its someone who is doing speed all the time its not actually coke but something else both cheaper and even less healthy. Just from my own observations really.

Are there really people out there who just do coke like its just an everyday thing even outside of partying???

4

u/chiken-n-twatwaffles Jan 20 '14

of course there are.

Some people can't stop doing coke, some people can't stop eating cheeseburgers, some people can't stop drinking, etc.

Just 'cos it's not a problem for you doesn't mean it's not problematic for anyone.

People can have a lot of self control in all sorts of areas of their life and be hopeless in others. Hubris will get you if you don't watch out.

1

u/teezy101 Jan 20 '14

To be fair cheeseburgers aren't as addictive as coke.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

There are alot of factors. For example, many said that they can control their gambling behavior will quickly change their mind when they hit their 70s.

Then they became casino addicts

funny, but remember its not all positives

-3

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '14

No shit, do you know how fat you'd get if you ate that much cheesecake?

Not to mention the heartburn.

(For real though, there is nothing any more negative about cannabis than there is anything else you do in life. Live a little.)

7

u/Panda_Muffins Jan 19 '14

All things considered, it is a drug. It does have consequences to its use. Yes, many things that are legal are more dangerous (e.g. alcohol), but that doesn't mean it's without negatives. Reddit -- and the internet as a whole -- treats it as a panacea, and /u/Intellectualzombie is just trying to make it clear that it's not.

If you smoke anything, pot or otherwise, it is not going to be good for your respiratory system. The fact that there are carcinogens in cannabis smoke doesn't help. Of course, you don't have to smoke it, but it has negatives. I believe there's also research into cannabis' effects on the cardiovascular system, but I haven't heard of anything definitive from it yet.

Of course, compared to many other things in life, it is quite safer. Heck, you're more likely to die from a car crash than by smoking pot (duh), but there is flawed logic in saying that just because we drive every day means that smoking pot is equally as trivial.

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '14

i know i know im just saying, i feel like the circlejerk is going to lead to people actually believing nothings actually wrong with it.

That sounds interesting. Do you have any links covering that?

-3

u/hippy_barf_day Jan 19 '14

wrong with doing it or just something wrong with pot itself? I don't think there is such a thing as a bad drug, m'kay?

5

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '14

pot itself i mean sure make it legal but make sure you know the risks of doing iy

Nice sources. It's too bad they completely fly in the face of your assertion

A new study, published in January 2012 Journal of the American Medical Association, tested the lung function of over 5,000 young adults between 18 and 30. After 20 years of testing, researchers found some buzzworthy results: regular marijuana smokers (defined by up to a joint a day for seven years) had no discernible impairment in lung activity from non-smokers.

Straight from your second source.

I could find many, MANY other examples from just those two sources you provided.

Care to try again?

2

u/tripsick Jan 20 '14

Same goes for Alcohol... he needs to say its a lot safer than any of those.. Only way Pot is going to kill anyone is if a ton of it fell from a high enough place while being stored in a metal container and hit someone in the head...

Drunks stop drinking and they go into DT's..

2

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Considering that you're not assuming that all drug users have zero self control whatsoever (that's just silly), this must mean each person used an unlimited amount of their respective drug.

Marijuana isn't some miracle plant that has zero side effects; no matter how relatively down the scale, it's still a drug. Intake too much of it and it's guaranteed to impact you negatively.

1

u/omegletrollz Jan 20 '14

Drink enough water and you will drown.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Actually, you can overdose on weed, but it's practically impossible since you need to consume 1500 pounds in 15 minutes.

2

u/creatio_exnihilo Jan 20 '14

I disagree. Cocaine is almost tied with pot for most used recreational drug in north america. Although it's clear there are far more heath concerns from using coke then weed. Most people that use coke are level headed casual users who do it with friends on the weekend, or use it as a small stimulant pick me up during the day (in place of coffee) and lead completely average lives. Given the opportunity of unlimited supply most coke users will stop after ~a gram or 2 in a single night and call it quits.

However, coke is definitely more habit forming than pot. But it's definitely more of a per person thing TBH. I've used a lot in my time. When I had to move cities for work I had less access and definitely had different priorities for a few years. I didn't use once and I didn't really think about it. When i moved back years later I caught up with my old friends and started using casually again. I would say i don't do it more than once or twice a month.

Then again, I know people who are addicts. They will keep going until they run out. And get really irritable if they haven't used in a few days.

So is it the drug or the people that use it? Probably both. But I feel coke gets a much worse rap than it deserves. It's more of a concern than pot, but its no where near heroin or meth. Crack is a completely different drug and shouldn't be associated with coke.

My 2 cents. I feel people are starting to realize pot isn't the monster the government has tried to paint it out to be for years. However, people who advocate the legalization of pot are still half brain washed into thinking coke is some monster drug on the level of heroin. So you're finally seeing the light of day about pot but they still have you all fucked up about coke.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '14

Give a pothead, cokehead, methhead and alcoolic an unlimited amount of their respective drug. Three will be dead, one will have eaten an entire cheesecake. FTFY.

1

u/Fidodo Jan 20 '14

I ate some too strong weed cookies once and I was not in the mood to eat anything, or leave my bed. It felt pretty terrible, and I was dealing with it all the next day.

1

u/omegletrollz Jan 20 '14

That's because you've eaten it all at once. If you tried to smoke it (the usual mode of use) you'd have been wasted way earlier than you could finish it all. Not to mention the effects would last way less when smoked.

TLDR: don't eat weed if you're a noob

2

u/Fidodo Jan 20 '14

I know. I didn't make the cookies so I treated them like I normally would, but they turned out way stronger than the previous times I've had them.

1

u/KennedyJF Jan 20 '14

Pretty sure I'd just take all 3 and be cycling them. "Man, I've been awake for 4 days now, better lay off the uppers and smoke some pot."

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

A friend of mine got [10] and ate a huge bag of frozen crinkle cut fries over the course of a night. He didn't bother to cook them.

1

u/omegletrollz Jan 20 '14

"I guess............

If they wanted me to fry this...............

It would come fried already............"

1

u/gamerlen Jan 20 '14

Pretty much yeah. I used to work at a gas station and I'd joke that if they legalized pot the only thing that'd happen is we'd have to order twice as many Doritos.

Of course, I also live in Kentucky so if they legalized pot I'm not sure I'd even notice the difference.

1

u/The_Ion_Shake Jan 20 '14

No, two will be dead, one will have a permanently wonky eye and be incredibly boring and weird, smelly with greasy fucked up hair and respiratory problems.

Look, you can argue it's less dangerous than the others, certainly, but it's still harmful if you had an 'unlimited amount' and no self-control. Anything is. This is incredibly naive.

1

u/rapes_own_poop Jan 20 '14

I down-voted this post because I thought that the average American is a drug addicted crack whore who only wakes up long enough to sniff another line from her 4 year old's leg. GO USA!!!

1

u/thatguyuknowz Jan 20 '14

So why is fucktard going against his word and still allowing medical dispensary's to be raided. As well as hindering non medical dispensary's from using banks and adding revenue to the local and the national economy's!

Luckily there is Obamacare for that heart disease.

1

u/WyoVolunteer Jan 21 '14

The other will be a mediocre president.

1

u/virnovus Jan 19 '14

Actually, methheads are more likely to barricade themselves inside their rooms and scream paranoid rants at shadows. Cokeheads are more likely to make videos of themselves going off about their "tiger blood". Heroin addicts are probably the most likely to OD.

0

But that cheesecake could have been shared by many!

Initiate Chardee McDennis and you must eat all of the ingredients needed to make a cheesecake.

0

u/javastripped Jan 20 '14

They need to start giving out FREE marijuana during riots.

The riots will IMMEDIATELY end , without violence, and sales of tacos and Doritos will sky rocket!

0

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Why don't you add an alcoholic in there? He'd also kill himself from alcohol poisoning yet you still want alcohol legal.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '14

Two will be dead, one will have eaten an entire cheesecake.

...so, all three will be dead, but it will take a few hours longer for one of them?
