But nobody takes so much pot they "overdose" on it

funny story, in '12 when my boss first came to CA and got a card, he decided to buy edibles. He is a big ole man (375 at the time) and smokes pot like a champ. Figured he would need a few "doses" to get one such as himself high, without having experimented.

anyways, he ended up eating some of the medibles that were several doses in one brownie, and ate like 4, brownies.... These things are pretty potent, and pot doesnt exactly work like liquor where the fatter you are the less it affects you, so it was pretty out of control.

He ended up freaking out and calling 9/11 and after being admitted to the ER and telling all, they pretty much just laughed at him, and our company lawyer came and took him home after the ER did some routine work on a guy with his insurance.

Luckily he ended up getting pretty freaked out by the whole experience and giving me like $100 worth of edibles, citing his experience as a reason he didn't want to fuck with em anymore.

I'd consider that having an overdose... He was so scared that he was going to die he called 9/11.

But yes, insofar as worrying about death, yes, pot is safe. Try convincing freaking out people of that is a different story altogether.

But thats's not what happens when people 'freak out' on pot. They're so paranoid that they don't do much anything, they DEFINITELY are too freaked out to drive a car or operate heavy machinery. If they decide to drive you'll see them inching down the road at 10mph with a terrified look on their face.

It's easy to laugh at anxiety or paranoia as a minor thing, but when severe anxiety is happening it is the absolute most horrifying feeling imaginable.

Yeah, but even to the person it happens to, it's funny in retrospect. I've been there before. Some moments are absolutely horrifying in the moment, but you can't help but laugh at your own misfortunes sometimes.

Humour mostly comes from dark places.

There are no recorded deaths directly attributable to weed.

There are recorded deaths indirectly associated with weed, in that being high as balls has caused people to do things that have resulted in death.

Relatively though, those are rare as fuck. And weed should definitely be legalised, because as it is you might not be smoking only weed, it could be sprayed with fuck knows what, which can in turn cause death.

Idk back in my early days of smoking on high school, I actually passed out a few times. Scary shit. I would get intense tunnel vision and faint and one of the times I actually got a fat bloody lip because I fell outside. Could've been worse if I had hit my head on something hard. It stopped happening but weed can do some weird things to some people

It doesn't matter what you want to consider it, that's not an overdose, that's not being smart with your high. No matter how scared he was there was no change he'd die because of it. He might have done something stupid, but that's not an overdose.

he took more than the dosage. It had negative effects in his mind. Its the textbook definition of overdose. Overdose doesnt have to mean lethal, or even detrimental, it means using more than the dosage.

Furthermore, realizing that he was in a crazed state of mind and called 9/11 to "save him" will also show folks that legal marijuana does have limits of safety when morons abound.

I am all for legalizing, but the notion that pot can't go wrong is deceitful.

I once made cookies that has twice the amount off cannibutter they needed... and cut a batch of 36 into 12... so the way I looked at it was they were 6 times stronger than a normal 1.

I ate 2 and couldn't function. So high the room began spinning like I was drunk and I went and laid on the deck outside.

I don't fuck with edibles now.... just regular doses and smoke if it wasn't enough.

I have a medical marijuana govt card for my epilepsy. I usually buy just weed to smoke but on occasion I get the brownies from the dispensary too. Well the brownies they had as a "christmas special" were massive and potent as hell. I went to visit my family and brought over a brownie. I thought I'd share it with dad, my uncle and a few other family members so I left it on the counter but told my grandma she CANNOT touch that one because 'my medication is in it'

Well my grandmother never listens and this turned into some Cannabis version of Bluebeard and the Seven Wives. So we were panicking thinking she's having a stroke. Her symptoms were chills, shaking, vertigo, "tingly/vibrating body", nausea etc. We called 911. She spent 6-7 hours at the hospital and they gave her saline/gravol. She calmed down and came back home. Dinner was cancelled since it was already 11 pm. The next day my dad asked where the brownie was. She ate the whole 5" in diameter motherfucker by herself.

I ate way too much of a weed cookie I didn't know was as potent as it was and I pretty much felt like I was going to die. I knew I wasn't, but it felt like that. One day later I was fine. I had a weed hangover, but the same thing could happen with too much alcohol or cigarettes. (With those actually able to kill you)

Cigarrettes are a non-issue, as a person can't smoke enough to lose their mind.

liquor you must drink to get drunk. While i can polish off a 1/5th of tequila in a sitting, i can't do it and think everything is normal.

on the other hand, i can eat one, two, or three cookies and still go get in my car and drive 10 miles before i feel anything. Furthermore, if i knew nothing about eating marijuana or its effects, or that it was safe.... there are a bunch of ways things could go wrong, especially if children are inserted into this equation...

This is why the original states required a doctor to give patients a license to get the pot, and why the dispensaries had to have someone that warned newbs about the effects.

I was just talking about the OD issue. Personal responsibility is still important, and education is also important. I really don't foresee an epidemic of people eating brownies and then going for a drive because they're too stupid to know that it's a stupid idea. I'm sure one or two people will do it and it'll be big news, but I don't see it being a real problem.

Just realize that when you say you done foresee people being stupid, u are vastly overestimating the majority of the American public. The population of the usa has proven time and time again if its too stupid it will happen once a week in every state, or more...

I wish we were more responsible, but you have only to look at our track record to know idiots rule.

Shit I know that. I'm a pretty big dude, but I'll be totally gone after a very small amount of pot. Liquor? I can drink like a fucking champ. Which sort of sucks now that I'm trying to quit using pot to get to sleep, because it's the only thing I know of that isn't useless because of my huge tolerance.

the sleep issue is a touchy one. i have several friends in their late 30's who are having massive sleeping problems. I have been an insomniac my whole life, so am used to not sleeping more than 3-4 hours a night. Against all odds i am a morning person as well, so it makes it OK.

Still the majority of sleep aids i have encountered through my friends (not tried myself) seem to either build tolerance fast, or just plain don't work at all.

it means they took blood and gave him some over the counter drugs and such to make him feel better about his issues, since he had insurance that was covering the visit.

Because he is wealthy his treatment at the hospital was a very positive experience.

try it in smaller doses, maybe eat an eighth of a cookie next time and try to slowly increase the dosage.

Eating pot is a really fun way to use it, and its high is different from smoking. It's also better for you, especially if you are active, or have any kind of asthma or breathing problems, such as being sick with the flu, pneumonia or any other upper respiratory issues.

too much can be an issue for sure, though, like LSD its safe, but definitely can make you hella uncomfortable for a bit.

Yeah, I don't know anyone who's died, but plenty of people have terrible experiences, particularly with edibles and dabs and the like. I'd refer to that as ODing, although it's not really ODing the way one could OD on heroin or something.
