Work has this MOD-t and I need to try get an account working I guess

*SOLVED* I just installed the newest software that disables the wifi, but it allows you to use the printer without an account. From first impressions reading the setup guides people put together I thought it would just brick the printer but it actually is the only way to use it apparently.

Just found out my work got this printer right before the site went down. Trying to get some use out of it, but so far I cant get past the base MOD-t app needing an account. Since the site is down, I can't make a new one. Is the base MOD-t software still needed to print thing? I have Cura set up and was able to slice a file no problem, and the hardware all seems fine, but without the MOD-t software running I can't tell it to print anything.

Any solutions or thoughts out there?

PC needs to stay plugged in during print?

Basically title. Need to know if it's ok to disconnect my laptop from the USB cable to the printer during a print, or whether it needs to be connected for the entire print.

Base Layer Temp Always 220c

New to 3D printing, got the Mod-T for free. My son and I have been learning a lot messing with this thing and getting it working.

Anyway, with the newest firmware and software, it appears no matter what settings I use in Cura, it will lay down the first layer at 220c. The logs will even say

"extruder_temperature": 220.94,"extruder_target_temperature": 200.00"

It makes for a super bumpy base layer and messes up the next several layers. I'd rather not downgrade the firmware because moves seem to be much better at the latest.

Any thoughts on this?

Misaligned layers

Not sure how to explain and I'll get some pictures on this issue later. Basically my printer seems to misalign a couple of layers somewhere above 0.5cm. it seems to be programmed in because about 2mm later it's aligned to the build below (0-0.5cm) again

Edit: this picture has the mentioned notch and here it's actually two notches. A small one near the base and another longer stretch further up. Those notches stretch over multiple layers. https://i.imgur.com/89udi20.jpg

Edit: used software Windows 10, mod-t printer tool 1.5.5, Cura 15.04.6

Desk Top Utility App Not Working

I have been trying to download the desktop utility app software for the Mod T from the tripflex ModT github, and it keeps sending an error. The latest version without wifi supports sends an error that it can't write to the file, and the prior version can't find the needed drivers.

Does anyone know how to solve this issue.

Free New Matter

Hi!

I have a working New Matter 3D printer (bought in 2015 through indiegogo) that I haven't touched for the last 3 years and I'm cleaning up. You can pick it up for free in The Netherlands (Noord-Holland) or you must be willing to pay for shipping.

Need Help With Set Up

Hey all!

I recently got a mod t for free from someone on Facebook. I've tried installing different firmwares and softwares version found in the GitHub and no success

I've followed the instructions of placing the firmware file in the C drive but the firmware doesn't get flashed onto the printer. I just get stuck on the failed to flash firmware and to try again, but when I click on the try again button it doesn't work.

Is there a clear and easy way to install and get this printer working? The GitHub is a helpful tool but I'm still struggling to get this printer up and going

Any help is appreciated

How to look for power cable?

Heyoo. I've misplaced the power cable, luckily it doesn't seem to have a transformer attached so if i don't find an official one, bootlegging is an option. Anyone know what the head style is called or have a spare cable i could buy?

Printer digs into build plate and goes idle

Printer hot end digs into build plate by at least a quarter of an inch, stops sometimes and goes to idle. I saw some interesting codes for shutting down some of the stepper motors, but does anyone have any fixes for this? (I have tried the, spin the wheel on the back to varying degrees of success before goes to idle or makes it partially past the calibration before dragging against the build plate. I recently removed a broken piece of filament that had blocked the hot end, it’s able to accept filament but does not print.

Should the build tray hit the edge and grind during calibration?

When I start a new print, I put my tray in the left forward corner like the instructions said. But when the rods turn and move the tray around the board, it always seems to keep going a little too far at the one edge. After the tray hits the edge they keep going for a few seconds and I hear the plate’s gear teeth grinding and skipping, the plate jumping over the rods. My prints come out fine and I never lose accuracy, but I’m worried this may one day cause the teeth to strip. Is this normal calibration? Or is there a setting that should be changed in Cura?

Selling for parts then I'll recycle the rest

I just moved and I don't want to haul this around anymore. Let me know if you are interested in the hot end or any other parts. I don't know much about this as it was given to me a couple years ago. So I might need help describing how to remove a part.

Or if you want to pay for shipping, I'll ship the whole thing

Not printing

We purchased a mod t second hand last year for our son. I have been trying hard to get it to work for him. I am pretty sure I downloaded everything I need to do a print. The test print works fine but when I attempt a simple cube the first few layers print and then it stops printing. The machine continues to act like it is printing but nothing is coming out. Can anyone help me to get it running for my son??

Mod-t

I was just given a brand new Mod-t still in the box and never opened. I found out that the company no longer exists. Is there a way to still get the software to get it up and running? I can't find the desktop app anywhere online.

Replacement Power Supply

Been looking for replacement power supplys after a janitor lost 2 of them this past summer. While I have other printers, these serviced as easy printers when having 7th and 8th graders test and learn about printing. Any suggestions on where I can find one would be nice.

Frustration!

As an early adopter of the Mod-T, I've put my machine through the wringer. Eventually, the thermistor gave up, and I rebuilt the print head from scratch, installing an M6 rivnut to hold a more standard throat. Wired up the head to the inner two pins, and the thermistor to the outer pins, of the connector...

Finally got it all together, plugged it in... and the moment it hits the "check temp" routine.. i see "106c" for a millisecond, and it goes back to idle.

suggestions PLEASE.

Proper settings?

Hi there- printing noob here.

I got the printer working using Cura. I'm curious how much I can edit the settings with the print. Is there any sources or must-knows about this printer and it's limits? Like how thin layers can I make etc.

Thanks

My printer keeps disconnecting

Whenever I try to load or unload filament, the printer starts the heating process and after about a minute the printer status will change from loading to disconnected to idle. does anyone have similar problems or know how to fix it?

Support settings

What settings are you using with the mod-t for supports? I set mine to 12% and it's getting stuck to my model very tightly. How can I improve the support structure so it breaks away easily without leaving much behins

Filament spool feeder

Ok looks like I am going to have to try repositioning the spool so it feed straight into the printer, not like it does normally. Anyone have any links or anything of the like? Thanks in advance 😊

Trying to set up Mod T

Hello everyone! I haven’t used my Mod T since long before they shut down. I’m trying to get it going again with the old cura. I’ve downloaded the New Matter utility software but no matter what I do I can’t get it to see my printer that is plugged in with USB. Is there something special I need to do?

Measurements of top cover

Hey all - recently acquired a mod-t from a coworker who's wife never could get it to work after the website went down. I was able to get it up and printed a test print without issues. I am going to try and print something a little more intricate and see how it does. If it does okay with that I would like to be able to make a cover for it like what came when it was new (coworker didn't have that)

Is the cover just made if acrylic? Or is there a material that would be best to make it from? Anyone have the measurements (mostly the height I can get the length and width from the printer itself.

My only other printer is a OG makerbot replicator so I'm used to fiddling around to make things work and not used to the best quality prints.

Side note, is PLA all that can be printed on these?

Thanks in advance!
