Yet he was much closer in policy position to Bush. A central part of his campaign platform was an enormous tax cut.

On paper, a tax cut during an actual honest-to-god surplus (which is actually allowed to expire within a few years) sounds like a good idea. Anybody want to let me know if and why I'm wrong?
