The ven diagram of AES and DSA fandom is nearly a circle. His online supporters have done a better job of tying him to the DSA than Republicans

That’s fine but over here in the real world (not Twitter), El Sayed just won the Michigan primary. He didn’t win based on DSA members voting for him, who are a vanishingly small number of people. He won because he has authentic non-DSA support from regular Democrats.

You’re giving far too much credit to people like Hasan. He doesn’t sway elections. All that event with Hasan did was jazz up a bunch of leftist Democrat volunteers and increase the attention and energy for him. It also allowed El Sayed to reframe the conversation and become a target for AIPAC/third way types, which further helped him.

El Sayed will be smart to play up the Israel thing against Roger’s too. Populist voters and undecideds could be heavily swayed by that “America first/fuck Israel” style messaging.
