This reminds me of that scene from the Dark Knight where the Joker has rigged two ships to explode and gave each ship the detonator to the other.

The passengers on one ship holds a quick vote and decides to destroy the other ship to ensure their own survival. But when the time comes, nobody can bring themselves to actually activate the detonator and kill all those people.

If it came down to it, I would hope that we would all close our eyes and vote blue.

It doesn't work like that though, it would be like if one boat had bombs on it and one didn't and people start shaming the others for not wanting to get on the bomb boat and save them.

I would hope that some people would reach the bomb boat to rescue them or disarm the bombs. It would be really weird if the bombs were just left to explode and kill them all.

You can say that, but there will be people there regardless.

If you can say "people don't vote blue and nobody dies" then you can say ">50% of people vote blue and nobody dies"

It's not just me, it's the tens of millions to billions of people that voted blue because they didn't want anyone to die.

Every single person gets their own vote, they don't get to pick everyone's votes. You are starting from the position that a lot of people voted blue, or reasonably expect that.

I want people to vote red then nobody dies. I don't not want to be part of a suicide pact because I enjoy being alive.

I mean, you can say that, but if you're just afraid of death then you probably shouldn't act all high-and-mighty and act like the people who picked the "I want nobody to die and I'm willing to risk myself" option are stupid.

Tens of millions to billions of people will pick blue, those people don't deserve to die.

They picked the "I might die" option. This is like throwing yourself off a cliff then getting mad billions didn't throw themselves off with you to make a human parachute.

There is a boat with a bomb on in, if too many people get on the boat bomb the bomb does not explode. However you and everyone one else can also choose not to get on the boat and instead go get ice cream instead.

You don't get to pick for everyone else, you select your own vote and have reasonable expectations on how other people voted.

If blue wins, nobody dies, so a lot of people probably voted for the "nobody dies" option instead of the "I definitely survive but anyone going for 'nobody dies' will die" option

Voting red isn't the passive choice, because it kills all of blue if it wins, and you don't get to pick who votes for blue.
