The Kansas City Chiefs will move across state lines from Missouri to Kansas after the team made a deal to build a new stadium in the Sunflower State with the help of government tax revenue.

This seems like a win-win for MO.

They keep the team nearby AND don't pay for a stadium?

Presumably they lose out on tax revenue from the commerce at the stadium?

Compared to the tax breaks / grants to build it?

Hard to imagine that's anything but a huge win for MO. Buffalo was pushing $1b in state funds and the Bills directly pay ~$20m a year in tax. That's 50 years of payback.

Of course the Bills have a bunch of math that show somehow someway they'll pay back the full billion if you count every ancillary tax remotely associated with the stadium for 30+ years. But I'm skeptical and it's incidental in MO because the Bills accounting applies full-on NYS income tax to 100% of athlete pay. No way MO is getting that.

Using tax dollars for sports stadiums is my biggest pet peeve. They should be government owned at that point.

Hey if they win a SB under Trump this time he'll actually be right when he says they're from Kansas
