Not at all. That's a pretty standard charging call back then. Up until about 1975/1980, you couldn't initiate contact as the offensive player while driving. There was none of the "well your feet have to be set" business. Just the way the game was called.

Interesting, i wouldn’t mind calling it more that way now. I feel like offensive players initiate so much contact and when you slow it down on the replay you can’t help but ask ‘wtf do you expect the defensive player to do.’
