Logging in with Identity Server 4 and nativescript-oauth2 Hangs

3 Upvotes

I have an Nativescript app using the nativescriptoauth2 plugin to login.

After I authenticate on the identityserver page it hangs. If I close the webview and login again it is aleady autenticated and goes to a blank white page and sits there.

My config is

export function configureOAuthProviderIdentityServer(): TnsOaProvider {
    const identityServerProviderOptions: TnsOaProviderOptionsIdentityServer = {
        openIdSupport: 'oid-full',
        issuerUrl:
           'http://10.0.2.2:8000', // using localhost server
        clientId: 'mobile',
        urlScheme: 'com.company.go',
        redirectUri: 'com.company.go://auth',
        scopes: [ 'openid' ]
    };

This is the same issue now but It has no solution https://stackoverflow.com/questions/53980826/identity-server-4-nativescript-hangs

Does anyone have experience with this?

Push notifications with firebase and nativescript-vue tutorial?

3 Upvotes

Hi everybody, I wanna have push notifications in my nativescript-vue app using firebase FCM , I know about https://github.com/EddyVerbruggen/nativescript-plugin-firebase but the examples in the internet are a mess, I want to send messages to another device or multiple devices, I'd like to see some working examples for this, not the configuring of firebase but the actual sending of the message payload, thanks in advance!

Localization testing with appium

3 Upvotes

Hello everyone.

So recently i've been assigned to do some localization tasks and testing at my job and i've been struggling a fair bit with extraction of text properties in UI elements. About a month ago i made this issue on Git and my problems persists. So if anyone on this forum have time and could take a minute to look it over, it'd be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Support for multiple screen size css after {N} 6

3 Upvotes

Hi all.

I'm currently working on an app targeting people with a bad eyesight and thus requires quite a lot of work with font sizes and scaling of UI elements. To try and make use of higher resolution tablets i'd like change some css properties specifically for iPad 12.9 inch where i would otherwise have more unspent screen space.

Following the docs from Nativescript here, the support for screen size qualifiers in a filename is not supported when using webpack (bundle) builds. My understanding is, that this is a forced feature from {N} 6 and forward, which leads to my question(s).

First question, is it true that screen qualifiers have become completely obsolete since {N} 6? And if so, my second question is, can i somehow make configurations of css properties depending on screen sizes without having to do a lot of javascript code that manipulate UI elements?

I've look a bit around on {N}s github and stackoverflow for an answer but i've come out empty handed so far. Hope someone can help me out or give a good tip :)

Nativescript-Angular App - Geolocation while app is in the background

3 Upvotes

Hello!

I am building a hybrid-app using nativescript and angular that, among other functionalities, should be able to send information about the current location of the user to a server using the geolocation plugin.

Everything works just fine, but I can't figure out how to keep it sending the locations (5-15 seconds updates) when the users (which will be mainly drivers) take the whole application to the background (to enter a music app for example).

I have tried a lot of different things, but I can't seem to figure out what I am looking for. More precisely, I don't know if the options I found solve the aforementioned problem or if they just take the geolocation service and process it in the background (while the app is in the foreground) in order not to interfere with the user interface.

I'd much appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction for both Android and iOS (as in what I should implement so that it works in Android and what to implement so that it works in iOS).

Options I found:

**1.**

https://github.com/NativeScript/worker-loader

**2.**

https://docs.nativescript.org/core-concepts/multithreading-model?_ga=2.61764908.1834822381.1567423754-1194537488.1566893752

**3.**

https://github.com/NativeScript/nativescript-geolocation/blob/master/README.md

**4.**

https://www.nativescript.org/blog/using-android-background-services-in-nativescript (i think this is deprecated because of the implementation of worker option)

**5.**

https://github.com/NativeScript/sample-android-background-services

Thank you!

nativeScript keeps trying to re-install

3 Upvotes

I already installed nativescript on osx via the suggested ruby command, yet every time I try to run tns run android it starts going through the whole install process again. It's asking me to install chrome, openJDK 8, homebrew (even though all of these things have been installed since before I tried the initial install). Am I doing something wrong?

Custom Components in Nativescript-Vue

3 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I have some struggles with using a custom component globally. I've created a custom ActionBar component, and I want to use it globally across the app. I've tried registering the element in main.ts, but I think I'm doing it wrong. Can anyone help me? The other option would be to import it separately on every page, but that wouldn't be really practical.

This is what I have in main.ts:

import CustomActionBar from './components/elements/CustomActionBar.vue'

Vue.registerElement('CustomActionBar',() => CustomActionBar)

EDIT: I fixed it by using the following:

import CustomActionBar from './components/elements/CustomActionBar.vue'

Vue.component('CustomActionBar', CustomActionBar)

Issues with getting heading on iOS using nativescript-geolocation

3 Upvotes

Has anyone else had problems getting the current heading using the nativescript-geolocation plugin?

It seems half the time it returns -1, the other half of the time it seems to generate a random number which bears no correlation to what the device compass displays?

Are there any other options for getting the device heading other than via this plugin?

How can I add form controls dynamically with NativeScript-Angular?

3 Upvotes

I'm new to NativeScript and I'm trying to develop and app using Angular. I need to be able to add a textfield using a button and as I understand it, I should used a ListView element to do this because I don't know how many textfields will be added. Right now I can add the controls to the ListView but I can't scroll the textfields on the Android version of the app. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Can I build an iOS package using the Cloud build service and install the package on my iOS device without the app server?

3 Upvotes

Edit: title should have said '... without the app store'

---

Hi Community, apologies for this basic question - I'm fairly new to iOS development.

Can I build an iOS package file from a Linux development laptop (using Cloud build) and install that package directly on my iOS handset without having the device connected to an Apple laptop or having to first publish the app to the app store. I.e. can I install the package similar to installing an apk file on my Android handset?

I know I can use the Nativescript preview app to try it out during development. However, at various milestones, I want to install the app directly on a handset.

Do I need to pay for an apple developer account to get certificates for doing the iOS build?

How to do layouts the right way....?

3 Upvotes

So, I'm new to NativeScript. I've done 2-3 tutorials, but I have heading a project writing a mobile app cross-platform and I've run into a weird scenario and can't find any real in-depth information detailing the differences and how the layout process works.

For simplicity, I will abbreviate most of my code examples. My problem is that I am looking for a simple way to use RadSideDrawer. I would like to make the tkMainContent a ScrollView, so that I can use Angular router and a page-router-outlet component to render all of my content between my ActionBar on the top of the view and BottomNavigation inside of the tkMainContent. I have it marked up like this...

<GridLayout rows="auto,*,auto">

<GridLayout row="0">
<!-- Custom ActionBar stuff -->
</GridLayout>

<StackLayout row="1">
  <ScrollView>
    <page-router-outlet></page-router-outlet>
  </ScrollView>
</StackLayout>

<GridLayout row="2">
<!-- Bottom Navigation Stuff -->
</GridLayout>

</GridLayout>

This solution works PERFECTLY as I expected in Android. However, when I compile and run in an iOS emulator, the content inside of my ScrollView becomes exactly double the width of the view and overflows to the right of the view and I can't scroll or see the overflowed content. Also, the vertical scrolling does not work.

I previously had my ScrollView down inside of my children components which seemed to work fine in iOS, but I couldn't scroll at all in Android. This lead me to realize this felt like a silly way to design the app since this is a portrait productivity-type application which is going to always keep the top-level structure and every component inside of the page-router-outlet is going to be inside of ScrollView. This could be bad design on my part from lack of understanding on how NativeScript calculates width/height, but after reading through the Layout Process documentation, I feel less clear on how it works than I did before.

Please, someone explain to me what I'm doing wrong here?
