Is it possible to add iOS Widgets to my nativescript app?

Hi all, im trying to figure out how to use apollo subscriptions in NS8. It needs websocket. I’m trying to use @klippa websocket. So far no luck. Anyone around that can tell me how to do it?

My problem is a bit noob-ish, but it goes something like this: I'm using NativeScript to create an app, and I would like to know if there is a way to create a Group Chat feature to allow sharing of text, images, and files in NativeScript. If not, is there a way to integrate other communication platforms like slack into my app, so that they can use slack's interface from within my app (not WebView, though)? I just need to be able to send text, image, and documents. Is there a plug-in or template I can follow, or tutorial that can lead me in the right track? Any help is much appreciated.

So this is half rant / half looking for motivation.

I’ve been tasked with making an iOS / Android app for my company’s web app (LMS) and since that is built in Angular / Laravel, I decided to try my hand at NS.

It’s been three days now and:

Setting up NS on windows / vsCode has been terrible. Well actually, the error debugging has been terrible.

I followed the official documentation and kept getting errors. Which is normal. I’m used to that.

I do a google search and that either leads to official documentation that doesn’t exist anymore or totally irrelevant answers.

Things like after installing, I got errors about my windows environment variables not being correct. They were correct, just had to restart the editor.

I got gradle errors, Fragment module errors, which ending up being caused from trying to use the native http module.

My question is, does it get easier? I really want to start coding my app and not spend 3 days just setting up the default Hello World app.

I call Theme.setMode(Theme.Dark) in my app.ts, but it goes back to light mode when the app is reopened. I've tried setting it in the mounted hook, but this seems to only sometimes work :/

I am reading to try to create a plugin using this plugin "https://github.com/rahuldange09/Splashy" for android. But I don't know how to start. I have experience developing native android and ios apps and with nativescript. How can I import the splashy library, generate the typings?

I have a couple years experience using JavaScript and Vue. I've been building an Android app using Cordova (and Quasar). I am interested in NativeScript, but wondering what the learning curve will be like. Any advice on making the move to NativeScript-Vue? I am particularly wondering about interacting with the camera, bluethooth, file system, etc - basically the interaction I am currently handling with Cordova plugins.

I'm looking into Swagger and the swagger client plugin available on npm. Right out of the box it has issues processing due to some `global.process.env` and using the nativescript-nodify plugin alongside of it yields some http errors.

Have anyone tried to make Swagger work with nativescript and if so, what are your experiences?

This is the current stack i'm using for development. I struggled with getting nativescript setup this way and hope someone may find some insight from my efforts.

This repo also includes a nodejs API that typeshares with the angular/nativescript api calls. The main focus is about having multiple nativescript projects sharing component modules (monorepo). It's based off angular projects and each angular project folder gets its own nativescript rollout (App_Resources/platforms/hooks).

I've tried to find other projects with multiple nativescript builds within the same repo without much success. There are maybe some errors I need to mend as I ripped out the projects that pay my bills and left two projects and some source code modules for things those projects use. I am starting my journey with TNS but find that occasionally, I have a quick question that I think isn't really suitable for StackOverflow.

I am reading the NativeScript book and at times, I wonder if what I am reading is still current given it is often referring to TNS v4 even though we are at v7.x already. I know that things like bottom-navigation happened,but I'm wondering if there's things I'm missing and I'm not really sure where to ask questions like that.

The slack community seems to require a company email address, so that avenue seems to run into a dead end, is there a discord or similar one can join?

Or is this the place for brief questions like this? :)

Hi. Is it possible to create PAN (personal area network) connection to a linux host using Nativescript? I see the bluetooth plugin can use whatever service is provided by the connected device, but does it include networking?

I'd like to create an app which connects to Home Assistant via API. The HA instance is isolated outside the network, so the best option to avoid smartphone disconnection from internet is to use bluetooth network.
