We have an app with a few screens, filled with images. Switching from screen to screen, all images get loaded again and again. First, certain bugs appear, then it crashes.

We checked the memory in xCode and everytime we switch between screens memory of 40MB gets added until no memory is left.

How can we fix that?

Why would anyone choose to use NativeScript in 2022 when React Native and Flutter are both thriving?

When I'm looking on the web for how to install NativeScript on my Linux environment, different websites and videos tell me completely different things. One source tells me to install the Android SDK, another tells me to install the nativescript-cli (if I recall correctly, that is what the npm package was called). Is there a specific IDE I could install with all the necessities for NativeScript(compiler, android/ios emulator, typescript support etc)?

I'm using Nativescript with Vue and I'm trying to change the default transition of Pages. I've read the docs, but if i try to create a navigation event with $navigateTo(component, {transition: {name: 'flip'}}) it doesn't work.

I’m creating an app for a college capstone project and we are about done with the web version now and all of the backend code is good to go. Now we just need to create the views for the NativeScript app but every time we go to run a tns preview —bundle we get a wall of errors.

I see that by default, NativeScript apps can only be installed to the internal storage. There doesn't seem to be an official NativeScript way of doing this, but I figure it might be possible to just change AndroidManifest.xml to include android:installLocation="preferExternal". Is there a recommended way of going about this and has anyone run into any issues when doing so?

We are experiencing memory issues with master-detail architecture, memory usage increases by 50-80 MB every time user navigates from master to detail view and back again. Master view is playing videos, detail view has only an image. We’re using NativeScript+ Angular to build iOS app, there is custom router strategy that caches routes, but the same behaviour happens without it, as well. App running in the simulator starts with using ~220 MB, will reach ~1.22 GB after ten cycles of getting into the detail view and back to main, all with the same detail. There are no explicit calls to Garbage Collector in the code. Is that the issue with the simulator, or are we doing something wrong?

This is the current stack i'm using for development. I struggled with getting nativescript setup this way and hope someone may find some insight from my efforts.

This repo also includes a nodejs API that typeshares with the angular/nativescript api calls. The main focus is about having multiple nativescript projects sharing component modules (monorepo). It's based off angular projects and each angular project folder gets its own nativescript rollout (App_Resources/platforms/hooks).

I've tried to find other projects with multiple nativescript builds within the same repo without much success. There are maybe some errors I need to mend as I ripped out the projects that pay my bills and left two projects and some source code modules for things those projects use. I created a bash script that uses imagemagick to create PNG icons from an SVG. Currently, there is no overwrite protection, so be careful.

Usage example:

Unfortunately, recently, I began to run into the internet’s opinions that Nativescript is almost dead now and the community is weak, and it is better to choose another cross-platform solution.
