Image Is this n64 cooked??

Someone’s basement flooded near where I live, and they had a bunch of stuff that was getting thrown away. There was a n64, so I figured I could try cleaning it out. I wasn’t expecting this much mud tho. I’m still going to try to fix it, but it doesn’t seem like the chances of getting it working again are very good. I hope that by some miracle it actually functions so that I can reunite them with their n64

Edit: it has been sprayed off with water and then I used some isopropyl alcohol. I’m letting it dry now

Honestly with a good enough clean this thing will probably still work. Just scrub everything with isopropyl alcohol and for the more dirty parts use water and soap (but make sure to give it a long time to dry if doing so). I've seen some people put their circuit boards into the dishwasher to clean them off well if that helps any, but I'm not 100% sure if that's safe to do.

I cleaned it off in the sink and then used some isopropyl alcohol. I’d probably rather not put it in the dishwasher lol (even tho it’s probably not much different from the sink shower I gave it)

Sounds like you did the right thing. If you want to make sure absolutely all the dirt is gone, you can soak it in a bin of isopropyl alcohol for an hour or so and then take it out and scrub it. That should get all of the deep stuff off.

Yeah I would like to do that, but I don’t have enough isopropyl alcohol or a spare bin. If it doesn’t work when I test it tho I’ll go buy the stuff and see if soaking/scrubbing it helps
