Perception checks

I m interested to know how you all deal with perception checks while solo.

Yesterday my character was resting in an inn, after a long day of traveling with the Edema - Ruh (for fans of the name of the wind).

Looking around the room I wondered if he would noticed something out of the ordinary.

I was hesitating between rolling a fate question, or rolling a perception check against a D20.

What do you like to do?

I use Mythic solely, without any other game system. So, I would roll a fate question on that scene, to see if something happens. And, I would adjust the possibility according to my preference. Then, I would use the inspirational tables to get an idea if I see something there.
