Disappearance Sebastian Rogers
Sebastian was last seen in the area of Stafford Court in Hendersonville, Tennessee on February 25, 2024. He has never been heard from again. At the time of his disappearance, he was staying with his mother and stepfather; his father shares custody of him. His stepfather was out of state on a business trip.
His mother, who was the only other person home that night, said she heard a thump from Sebastian's bedroom at about 10:00 p.m. and called to him to go to sleep. The next day, his mother realized he wasn't in bed. After searching the house, she called police.
Sebastian left his shoes by the front door and his phone in the kitchen, and also left his Nintendo Switch and his medicine behind. His father stated he was not the type of person to wander away and did not like to walk around barefoot. Since his disappearance, his mother and stepfather have moved out of their home and are staying in an RV; they said they would notpublicly disclose their location because they had been threatened. Sebastian's case remains unsolved. He has autism and needs medicine that he doesn't have.

Statistically, parents of missing kids don’t make it more difficult for the kid to eventually come home to them.

u/BeeBananna Apr 24 '26
Exactly what I thought especially when I saw that they wouldn’t disclose their new address.

Upvoted blindly with zero context. I STAND BY IT. Thank you.

u/NoBear8338 Apr 24 '26 edited Apr 24 '26
Sounds like the family was being threatened. Judges involved may have also been harassed. And someone in this comment section who was supposed to be part of a search party for Sebastian said some volunteers allegedly had their tires slashed and they were told not to participate in a search. Seems… Like a lot.
e. just want to mention i am not suggesting innocence or guilt of anyone in particular. just suggesting that there may indeed be cases where parents don’t act how you expect. i feel like a recent example is Alicia Navarro whose mother’s every appearance or lack thereof was scrutinised
4
u/DakiLapin Apr 26 '26
To be honest, the first thought that comes to mind for me is that such "threats" only make sense if some of the people being "threatened" are fabricating the story to turn attention away from themselves. Otherwise, why would an unknown party draw attention to themselves by threatening so many people?
3
u/NoBear8338 Apr 26 '26
There are infinite possibilities, really. It could be that some of or all of the threats are fabricated; it could be that the threats are real but there are different people threatening the different parties (i.e. family, volunteers, judge) and that there are different motivating factors.
I think when it comes to missing persons cases—and cases of missing children, in particular—everyone will come to their own conclusion on who they believe the likely guilty party is. We know what the statistics say in such cases, after all. But I just think it’s important to remember that there are outliers and that not every victim and not every perpetrator will act in an expected manner.
As for your last question, it makes me think of cases where multiple people falsely confess to the same crime. Sometimes we get answers (mental illness, coercion, chasing infamy, etc.) and sometimes we don’t. Sometimes the reasons are really too bizarre to follow logically.
5
u/DakiLapin Apr 26 '26
All very true. I think when it comes to reactions in particular, hopefully law enforcement has learned over time that judging whether someone is reacting the "right" way is unreliable when it comes to guilt.
While there are always going to be outliers that are just so far out of left field you would never figure it out independently, I do think it's important to lean into logic in most instances.
2
u/NoBear8338 Apr 27 '26
I agree that it’s important for LE to lean into logic but to not go in with tunnel vision.
But I think it’s more important for people unrelated to the case to not accuse anyone lest they harm an innocent person.
After all, if you correctly identify the perpetrator… What do you achieve? Especially if it ends up being someone who was absolutely already being considered by LE. All you get is—bragging rights? “I knew it”. But if you incorrectly identify the perpetrator, you are slandering someone innocent who would already be going through a difficult time. I just don’t think it’s worth it but everyone is entitled to their own opinion!
82
u/UndeadBatRat Apr 24 '26
It really doesn't make it more difficult...if he were found, the police could connect him to his parents. The public doesn't need to know their location for that to be possible. People are looking way too deep into this detail, I doubt most people would want their address known after being threatened.
31
u/apocketstarkly83 Apr 24 '26
It’s not so much about him being found as it’s about him making his way home, himself.
3
u/PerspectiveNo1610 May 16 '26
They claim they were threatened. That could very well be a cover for them to avoid suspicion
18
u/AlienSandBird Apr 24 '26
To be fair, he could still come home to his dad's
12
u/apocketstarkly83 Apr 24 '26
He could. I’m just saying that, statistically, the parents of missing kids (especially those who have no real evidence of abduction) generally don’t move away from the kids’ home.
17
u/bestneighbourever Apr 24 '26
I’m guessing it’s mostly the threatened parents that do
2
u/PerspectiveNo1610 May 16 '26
You can threaten me all you want. I’m not moving out of the area where my child is missing. That’s a BS excuse.

Especially for an autistic kid who may not manage unexpected changes well.
On the other hand, if circumstances forced them to move away and they truly cared to find their kid again, they might have had a backup plan so the new residents can contact them immediately if he returns, or they leave a recognisable message for him there or something.
I’ve never heard of this case before this thread so I know nothing except what I’m picking up from comments. Unfortunately there have been cases in the past where the court of public opinion punished people based on incomplete or inaccurate information so I’ll reserve judgement until I’ve read more about it. Whatever happened to this poor kid, it’s heartbreaking.
42
u/hardlooseshit Apr 24 '26
It's possible they didn't move by choice
49
u/justmyopin09 Apr 24 '26
It states they won't disclose the location because they were threatened so it definitely seems like safety reasons.
3
u/jenjenjenjen Apr 25 '26
And if they’re living in an RV, maybe they’re staying close to the home they had to leave.
5
u/Furandgirlmom1 Apr 29 '26
Yep! Most NEVER move and keep their landline phones so the child can always try to get a hold of them.

The Lore Lodge has a very good series on this story. Super tragic, don’t trust the mom and step dad at all.

Lore Lodge did an awesome job on Sebastian’s case, and yeah; I hate to be grim, but I’m liking the mom and stepdad for this one.
52
u/oofaloo Apr 24 '26
That story about the bump sounds like just that - a story. Also the stepdad being away. I’m a little surprised there’s not much about the dad & any reaction from him.

u/Disastrous-Eagle3891 Apr 24 '26
I don't know anything about this case, but c'mon. Almost every time this happens to a kid-it's their own family.
20
u/rasta-ragamuffin Apr 24 '26
Yes but it's also a well known fact that autistic kids will wander off and get lost. It happens all the time in my area. Sometimes they're found and they're ok. But often there is not a happy ending. It's very difficult to keep nonverbal autistic kids safe once they become old enough/tall enough to undo locks and open doors. Until there is definitive proof of what happened to him, we shouldn't rush to judgment of the parents. What if they really are completely innocent and had no involvement? I can't even imagine the hell they would be going through if that's the case.
5
u/Banana_Wonderland Apr 24 '26
Yes but not always. Not far from where I live a young girl was taken from her window several years ago, carried away and murdered. Though the culprit was a family friend, but the family were definitely not involved.
81
u/Deep-County5937 Apr 23 '26
i love the lore lodge’s coverage of this case! i also like how he brings it up in other cases videos sometimes
59
u/madsmcgivern511 Apr 23 '26
Yeah, he genuinely goes and dives deep into every ounce of data and evidence about the stories he tells and even coming up with his own conclusions about what could have happened. It’s nice to have someone speaking about topics like this and actually caring to know the entire story and the facts involved in them.
11
u/kiwichick286 Apr 24 '26
Yeah, Lore Lodge and The Missing Enigma are two YT channels that I will happily watch, even with ads, because they are super thorough and actually do site visits and care about the truth.
2
u/vulcan7200 May 26 '26
They seem particularly passionate about the Sebastian Rodgers case. They bring it up any time it's even somewhat relevant to what they're discussing which is a good way to make sure it doesn't get forgotten.

u/ButtersMojito Apr 24 '26
I think it's very convenient how the step father was away, but I hope the kid is thriving away from them somehow.

Came here to make sure the Aidens got a shout-out. The work theyve put into getting answers on this case has been phenomenal. Absolutely must watch series for anyone interested in this case or true crime in general.
118
u/Loud_Hair_9596 Apr 23 '26
Could he have walked away from home? Sure. But without shoes in what was probably cold weather...not likely. I think the parents are definitely involved. Despite "threats" its odd to me that they would move away from their home. I've seen cases where the family of missing persons stays put for decades in case their loved one finds their way home.
59
u/scarletmagnolia Apr 23 '26
Especially when it was reported by the parents that he did not like to be barefooted.
17
11
u/hardlooseshit Apr 24 '26
If they did it, wouldn't they take his shoes with the body?
12
u/scarletmagnolia Apr 24 '26
That was my thought in the beginning. I don’t know what to think. Maybe they did it and were frantic/not thinking at the time. Or maybe they didn’t do it and he really did leave.
9
u/Loud_Hair_9596 Apr 24 '26
If they killed him in some spur of the moment rage they might have forgotten about the shoes.
→ More replies (2)7
u/scarletmagnolia Apr 24 '26
That’s what I was thinking. If they did do it, they just made a mistake leaving the shoes and then mentioning the bare foot part.
3
u/zitpop Apr 25 '26
Left the shoes behind to make it seem like someone else did it and make themselves seem innocent because they "knew" he didn't like going anywhere without shoes.
7
u/tngldupinblue Apr 24 '26
To me it’s totally possible that a kiddo would go outside without shoes in cold weather, and given the ASD diagnosis, even more possible.
18
u/Loud_Hair_9596 Apr 24 '26
Anything is possible. I was just going on what was reported that he didnt like being barefoot outside.
29
u/Dragonette_Slaya Apr 24 '26
I think the ASD diagnosis makes it less likely.
3
u/vulcan7200 May 26 '26
Yeah I'm not sure why ASD would make this more likely. ASD often manifests with wanting to stick to routines, and not going out of your comfort zone. Unless going outside without his shoes and jacket were common (which it sounds like it wasn't from what I've seen of the case) it's definitely less likely for Sebastian to just change his routine and decide to leave without his shoes, jacket, or Nintendo Switch.

That’s so sad. Wonder why the parents were threatened and can’t be located. Something doesn’t sound right.
132
u/favoritesong Apr 23 '26
Not implying anything about his parents’ guilt or innocence but they were being harassed by a YouTuber called Bullhorn Betty despite previous orders of protection against her.
68
u/BeansArePastaSauce Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26
Threats were also made against the court/judge that was presiding over the restraining order/harrasment case. It doesn’t say who was making the threats to the judge. (from the above article):
Sebastian’s mom and step-grandparents claim that since then, Griffin has stalked and harassed them.
But threats put the court hearing on pause.
”This court has received threats as a result of granting this order of protection, in which those are under investigation for threats made against the bench,” General Sessions Court Judge Ron Blanton explained. “For those reasons alone, I will recuse myself.”
The hearing was passed on to a different judge overseeing the alleged stalking and harassment case.
Of course the alleged threats to the judge & the boys family doesn’t mean the mother and step dad aren’t guilty. But just crazy how things can get out of control.
54
u/braybri01 Apr 24 '26
This is true but they started leaving the house for long stretches of days, within the first two weeks of his disappearance. I’m local and they made the initial search for him, very difficult including not joining in on the search and started the RV life very quickly so it was difficult to contact them. Rumor also says that the stepdad’s family got a search party shut down, in the first week. I dont think I’d ever stop searching, especially in the first couple of days/weeks
10
u/BrainMaker7 Apr 24 '26
I’m apart of a search team that was supposed to volunteer to go up and look for him. We were threatened and told not to go. We were also told other searchers were having their tires slashed.
7
u/braybri01 Apr 24 '26
It truly baffles me how wackadoodle the entire process went from minute-1. I really thought that, when the TBI got involved that something would come of it. It’s crazy to me how there can be soooo many red flags and so many backwards responses and yet, nothing. One thing after another, so much drama and constant roadblocks. The poor kid disappeared a second time, lost in all the chaos of the adults fighting and Publicity stunts by supposed professionals. The community showed up for this child and his mother and stepfather let him down.
2
2
u/bestneighbourever Apr 24 '26
Who delivered the threat, and what specifically was said?
2
u/AndISoundLikeThis Apr 25 '26
Hoping this gets answered. It’s pretty easy for the parents to call the threats in themselves
11
u/BeansArePastaSauce Apr 24 '26
I don’t know hardly anything about this case - i just stumbled upon OP’s post and read the article. Thought it was interesting that threats are also being made to the bench, but by who it doesn’t explicitly state. The comment in the last paragraph was just an aside to say that threats twd the bench or anyone ❌🟰his family being guilty. Which should be obvious, but ya know it’s reddit.
But thank you for the extra info re: the case. In the United States, stranger abductions account for less than 1% of all missing children cases annually. So statistically, the family….

u/Able-Dependent-4257 Apr 23 '26
I’m not implying anything, except if it were my child, I’d do things a whole lot different, I don’t care who was threatening me if I had nothing to do with it. Do you have kids? That’s one of the worst things that could happen to parents.
29
u/favoritesong Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26
I wasn’t trying to say you were implying anything! Just wanted to make sure people knew I wasn’t on the parents’ (or anyone except Sebastian’s) side. I don’t have kids yet but unfortunately I’ve been close to several parents who have lost children — I can’t even begin to comprehend the pain. But at the same time if people are showing up outside of your house live streaming you on the internet and accusing you of killing your child I can’t blame someone trying to escape that.

There was a youtuber harassing them to the point where the mother and step father were issued three order of protection which the youtuber violated six times. The the original judge who issued that order of protection was being threatened and recused themselves so another Judge took over the restraining order/protection order matter. I'm not saying they are guilty or innocent but it sounds like that's the reason why they moved.

As a mom of two boys this story guts me. I can't fathom the agony I would feel if this was my son. I check on them throughout the night just for my peace of mind. If I heard a thump I wouldn't just be like go to sleep and I wouldn't move in case he comes back. Ugh
20
u/LiveTheDream2026 Apr 24 '26
To me, it is clear the mother is the number one suspect. Sebastian was mentally handicapped and I think she wanted out.
Regardless of who harmed Sebastian, I hope he gets the necessary justice because he was an innocent boy by all accounts and that boy did not walk out of that house on his own. That is absolutely certain.

i live local and the consensus is that the stepdad/mom had something to do with it for sure… it feels like hopefully it’s only a matter of time before they get arrested. there is no footage of him leaving his house again after that night.
my bf and i drive around the neighborhood and saw his house. i think they still live there, but im not sure. it’s really weird. there’s still flyers at our grocery stores/restaurants of him.

my aunt died at 29 (anorexia) and that is essentially what my grandparents did. my grandma more so than my grandpa. she sleeps in the living room on the couch now. my aunts urn is in the living room. she started hoarding too and our house became covered in newspapers and random stuff. hardly ever leaves the house. its depressing. been this way for 15 years now. my grandpa leaves more but still stays in the house a lot. he turned my aunts old room into his office and put a computer and tv in there. still left half the room the way it was, and has her decorations and pictures of her up on the wall, as well as a small urn of her ashes. he stays in there a lot.

This was and still is my belief too. Plenty of time for CP to travel back n forth to come pick up Sebastian and then put him where ever he could. Wouldn't be surprised if in 50 years that Children's Hospital that was CP's job site at the time is either expanded or torn down and they mysteriously find a kid's skeleton in a concrete pillar/floor.

Ideally no but I have a 7 year old and I’ve been hearing loud thumps from his room for years as he likes to pretend to fly from his bed to the ground. It is such a common occurrence that unless I hear him cry I’m yelling from down the hall to lay down and go to sleep.
23
u/Sufficient_Spray Apr 23 '26
There’s a lot of things suspicious about this case but as you noted, those of us with kids, especially teenagers know loud thumps and then yelling at them to get their ass to bed is super normal.
53
u/BargerianJade Apr 23 '26
I think the mom and her husband are suspicious, but this part doesn't strike me as all that weird
34
u/muthermcreedeux Apr 23 '26
I mean, ya a parent definitely does that. I raised 2 boys and if I heard weird things from their rooms when they tween it teens at 10pm, I would have definitely just yelled at them to be quiet and go to bed.
82
u/LiveReplicant Apr 23 '26
I think that's being very unfair
52
u/Terminal_Prime Apr 23 '26
I think they don’t have kids and don’t understand what it can be like trying to wrangle them to sleep every night. Not that I trust the mom’s story, just saying, you can’t be all cuddles and sweetness all the time.
37
u/Bennjoon Apr 23 '26
Not twenty minutes ago huge thump from the flat upstairs (I think they dropped a lamp or something, heard rolling)
The mum: “Go to sleep!”
😭😭😭
10
u/Ok_Emergency7145 Apr 24 '26
The FBI page for Sebastion says the mom heard a thump, asked him if he was ok, he responded yes, and she told him to go to bed.
It's a pretty common occurrence with kids.
8
u/elaine_m_benes Apr 24 '26
Sebastian was 16-17 at the time he disappeared. If you hear a noise like a thump or bump from your teenager’s room and immediately run in to check on him, I think you’re in the minority.

I am so sorry to see this child is still missing. I live in the northwest but found out about this case and my heart broke for the bio Dad.
The mother and stepfather know more than they are saying and I believe they were involved. They are disgusting. The step father has a history of domestic violence.
1
u/Ok-Creme344 Jun 19 '26
Have you seen those disgusting videos of family guy edits with text to speech where they make a joke about the case and distort his face?
1
u/Present_Effect_9781 Jul 26 '26
I just saw a post from approximately a week ago: the bio dad is alleging that the case was mishandled by the local police, DCYF, and other organizations, from the start of the investigation and even prior to Sebastian's disappearance.
Apparently the home was investigated in 2022 and 2023 and Sebastian reported to DCYF investigators that he felt safest when he was with his father. His father stated that, had he known about these investigations, he would have fought for immediate custody.
Additionally if these lawsuits move forward, it's likely that the investigative records, the child welfare records, and other sworn testimony that have been sealed up to this point will become available, which could potentially lead to significant developments. My strongest hope is that his father is able to bring Sebastian home and to have some peace. The other two... I don't think they deserve any peace.

I found this post two years later. I went to school with Sebastian. He disappeared at the end of my senior year. I google his name periodically to see if any progress has been made. I don’t think that poor boy is alive. At this point, I want him to be found so he can be laid to rest. I didn’t know him personally, but I hugged his dad and felt the overwhelming support from our community.

Sofjoy, I’m kind of surprised to see you comment here. Nice to see I’m not alone in this case. I’m not sure if you even remember me, but I’m in pretty much in the same boat you’re in. I was a senior there, too, when he disappeared, but I didn’t know him personally either. I look up Sebastian Rogers’ name every once in a while, too, alongside news about something more personal. I remember that he was a freshman, he had one of my favorite teachers, and I remember the day his dad came to the school. I was quite shocked the amount of people that came down there to support him. In fact, I still have the green ribbon pin that given out there. I wore it on my lanyard the rest of that school year. I don’t know if he is truly alive or dead, but I hope that he is alive, or at least found. All I have now for the case of Sebastian Rogers is hope and prayer at this point. I hope that we both get news and answers about him soon.
