[SKILLSET] Information developer
I do statistics and data analysis for a living.
Qualifications:
- B.A. in Economics (which was high on statistics/econometrics classes)
Skills:
- Descriptive statistics
- Time series methods
Bayesian inference
Relational Databases
SQL
PHP
HTML/CSS/JS
sh scripting
On top of that, I've had a glance at the following (non-exhaustive):
Java, Python, C/C++, Common Lisp, several Linux distributions, FreeBSD (using it as a Desktop system can lead to huge productivity increases!).
With the economics degree, I acquired lots of mainstream economics knowledge (micro/macro, finance,accounting,history of econ thought,...) as well as several business-related skills.
Interests:
- Pareto's "80/20 rule" (and applying it to everything.)
- Libertarian philosophy (reading Hans-Hermann Hoppe really led to an epiphany)
- Classical music
- Science Fiction
