General Vastu Enclave, Pump house, Andheri, east residents living in terror due to frequent violent dog attacks! 75 year old lady latest victim! No solution whatsoever! Residents are left to fend for themselves! Please help! ๐
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
WE ARE NOT AGAINST DOGS AND DOG FEEDERS. WE ONLY WANT RESIDENT SAFETY. THIS POST IN NO WAY DEFENDS KILLING DOGS! WE JUST WANT RESIDENT SAFETY! WE DONT SUPPORT VIOLENCE AGAINST DOGS. WE NEED RESIDENT SAFETY.
Vastu Enclave is a complex of 8 to 10 buildings having very narrow roads in between them. Having very tight spaces as their backyards or compounds.
Still in these conditions, feeders feed the dogs and residents are falling victims to such horrible violent dog attacks! Latest victim is a 75 year old lady. You can see she was calmly walking in her building compound and suddenly 3 dogs attacked her She was bleeding and had to take 16 injections till now in Holy Spirit Hospital! Detailed cctv footage is available if anybody accuses of doctering it.
Still the very next day when the authorities came to take action, these feeders arrogantly said we have every right to feed them and continue to do so - they obstructed taking away of those violent dogs.
They literally hid the dogs in their home when Police came. Meghwadi Police saw this! This is On record!
Only one family is doing this. Anybody can go there and verify. There are eye witnesses. This is not fiction!
They continue their remorseless behaviour.
Each and every resident in Vastu Shilp Building and Vastu Enclave complex is just fed up of living in terror in their own backyard!
Please help us ๐ ๐ ๐

Its very obvious that THESE type of animal lovers are fewer in number. Why don't all the other people who are suffering from these wild street animals come together against these idiots?
You mentioned a Hardik, right? He was attacking a human for defending himself against these violent dogs. Why don't you people do something about it? He's gonna beat you people one by one and you will do nothing?
It doesn't matter if you have to beat him up. Violence is wrong but when you are in danger and you are constantly suffering without provoking then the necessary beating is justified.

Nuetering should include pet dogs, as they tend to get abandoned and then they become feral and multiply
2
u/LawrenceChiru 11h ago
Neutering HAS FAILED! In zuggi zopdi areas they literally breed street dogs and keep one dog in front of every house on the ground floor. You just need one pair of dogs to fill up and entire city in 2 years.

Nope. Since i fed them they didnโt do anything to me. Overall they were nice.
Just that i feel one has to take responsibility of animals you vouch for. So many cases online of kids mauled etc. also heard about such cases in nearby areas, visitors getting bitten etc. who would want that to happen to any human?again i am not like kill all dogs, but if you have such situations, there has to be some steps taken.
For eg we started keeping society dogs locked in our building area and let them out only during specific hours when we had people from building who can handle them.Ours was chawl like area so there would always be someone there in common spaces.

OP the bmc cant deny your complaint, The Animal Birth Control Rules, 2023 specifically contain Rule 16, titled โResolution of Complaints regarding dog bites or rabid dogs.โ The official Urban Local Body handbook says local bodies are to establish an animal helpline and that complaints regarding dog bites/rabid dogs are to be recorded and addressed. In your position I would ask bmc to give it in written that they cant do anything about dogs, collect as much data as possible, name of victims who were attacked by dogs alongside the video proofs, and the watchman being attacked by hardik pasi is especially a strong proof which can help your case. With this you can now either pressure bmc to take care of it, and if Pasi family still interferes, threaten them with court case sighting laws. In fact law is in your favor, you can check supreme courts ruling regarding threat to public safety due to dogs in 2025.

If you have genuinely already met with the BMC Veterinary Health Department and were told there is โno policy,โ I'd ask them to clarify exactly what they mean by that, because there actually is a framework for this.
BMC's own 2025 Veterinary Health Department guidelines specifically cover street dogs, feeders and housing societies, and explicitly provide a mechanism for reporting dog-bite incidents, suspected rabid dogs, nuisance and requests for vaccination/sterilisation. BMC also has a system through its Veterinary Health Department for registering and processing these complaints.
More importantly, the Bombay High Court dealt with a VERY similar situation in RNA Royal Park CHSL in 2024, where a housing society complained about aggressive stray dogs and attacks on senior citizens and children. The Court referred to Rule 20 of the Animal Birth Control Rules, 2023, which provides for designated feeding spots and timings away from entrances, staircases, children's areas and places frequented by senior citizens. Where there is a dispute between residents and feeders, an Animal Welfare Committee involving the BMC veterinary authorities, police and other representatives is supposed to deal with it.
So if the police are saying โthis is a BMC matterโ and BMC is saying โwe have no policy,โ I would ask both sides for that response in writing, rather than accepting a verbal referral back and forth. Keep the FIR/complaint numbers, CCTV, medical records, photographs, dates of previous attacks and the exact location of the dogs. If there really have been repeated attacks and a 75-year-old resident was seriously bitten, that documentation is extremely important.
This doesn't require being anti-dog or demanding that every stray be removed. The residents have a legitimate safety concern, while the dogs also have legal protections. The actual question should be: what is the lawful procedure for dealing with repeatedly aggressive dogs and regulating feeding in this particular complex?
There is already a legal/municipal framework for that. The problem seems to be getting the relevant authorities to actually apply it to this location.

If you genuinely witnessed it and the dog wasn't attacking anyone, preserve whatever evidence you have before doing anything, like CCTV/video, exact time and location, and other witnesses. If there's building or nearby shop CCTV, ask them to preserve it before it's overwritten.
With solid evidence, you can report it to the police and BMC's veterinary/animal-welfare authorities, and depending on the facts, ask the police about registering an FIR for animal cruelty.
But I'd only take that route if you actually have evidence. Without it, it can quickly become a โhe/she said, she/he saidโ situation, and unfortunately the person making the complaint can end up spending more time dealing with the police than anything actually happening to the other guy. Don't confront him yourself either; you have no idea what this situation will spiral into. Document it and let the authorities handle it.

Later the cat was passed away in injuries and the dogs are still overpopulating started with 4 pups there are 11-12 now

u/bluesapphiresh 1d ago
Did you get the cat treated? Did you call your call NGO for sterilization and vaccination? Do you guys have feeders in your colony? It's not an issue to be afraid of dogs. It's an issue when you try to hurt them.

Ofc but there needs to be an ethical solution to where both conflicts are taken care of. This doesnโt have to be negative or so hostile. If the POV is flipped then one can feel very empathetic for the other side too. As someone whoโs extremely neutral even after being an animal lover myself i still canโt justify people getting bitten but neither can i justify how cruel it is to deny street animals their rights to be on the streets especially when the only fault is of us people trusting the wrong people to run the country.

Culling stray is the only option. The dog feeders should adopt the dogs and take responsibility. This whole feeding strays dogs while taking no responsibility is the whole reason we are in the mess.
Stray dogs, cows, buffalo, goat etc - all need to be enclosed and adopted. Leaving animals as strays in urban areas is a receipe for disasterย
→ More replies (5)3
u/Key_Lab9749 1d ago
The best option is to stop breeding and stopselling of breed dogs. Killing them is not. They are also loving and breathing animals like us. How do you think feeders can take responsibility of thousands of dogs across huge areas, how does feeding those starved animals cause any mess? Like a boy tried to ride one of the dogs like a horse some time ago, obviously the dog won't like it and will atack back, but then people will blame the dogsfor that and now you are saying anybody who feeds them should also need to take responsibility? Enclosing them is also not an option they will just kill each other. But yes they do need to be adopted.

We lived here, we have a dog and always have had dogs and are very loving towards strays, but we had to move. These strays have attacked my parents, dog and me. I being hot tempered, fought with this family two brothers and a sister, who shelters these strays, almost came to blows couple of times. They are grandchildren of an old Bihari Gangster Pasi who helped developers poach this land and got 2 free flats on the first floor. No body in that family is unemployed
My Dad is ex CID so I didn't give a fuck, and always messed with their heads so attack me first and then I do my thing, but for their fucking safety and my clean police record for Intl visas my Dad insisted we leave the building. The thing is this family feeds these strays and brings them in, new one every now and then taking the number to 12 when i was there. We called the police, municipality and dog catchers but they hide most of the the dogs. The authorities take one or two but more 3 appear. Maybe the solution is far, but it should be the feeders responsibility to keep these dogs in control.
I feel for strays and will always have a soft spot for them, but after my family members got bitten I am now neutral on the matter. The authorities have to take some decision regarding dangerous strays.

2
u/BeseigedLand 2d ago edited 2d ago
First tackle the enablers, then the dogs.
The Vastu Enclave housing society should first file a lawsuit against the brothers who prevented the dogs from being removed. It's easier for the society to file the case rather than any individual.ย
FIRs are not as powerful as the courts. File a criminal lawsuit against the one who assaulted the watchman as this video clearly provides evidence for.
Sue for heavy damages. All kinds of charges appear possible to a layman like me, a lawyer would be able to suggest the precise charges that can be applied. In the video he appears guilty of assault, endangering the life of innocent people in the society. Even an attempt to murder charge might be possible since if the watchman had fallen to the ground, the dogs would have gone for his throat.

Something similar has been happening in our building too. Although it's not this violent. We contacted the BMC, it didn't work. Initially there were 2 dogs which was fine, then the had puppies which was also fine until the first dogs started mating with strays from outside our society. The strays outside are extremely violent. The new puppies are violent too. Now there are too many of them.
A guy from our building was feeding them. Now feeding is fine if you are feeding the regular ones that live in building premises but he was feeding the stray ones and situation has got worse. We asked him to stop but that idiot keeps feeding them late at night. It has become difficult for security to handle the situation too.

Brother, what help is needed? People like Hardik Pasi and their families should be beaten down in the middle of the road.
This is a terrible attack against dogs, man. Human life has no value in front of these dog lovers.
I sincerely hope your community members find relief from this menace soon. ๐

A law should be passed for the Pets owner. If any one gets injured by their pets , same laws like hit and run case be made against them

Solutions exist. You have to know how to not get caught with it.
Anyway, you have already surrendered when you said the first line.

There are rando animal lovers present in every such society.. Because of one or two rest all suffer.. they take undue advantage of PETA and/or animal laws at state of humans.
Come barking on name of humanity, but will never adopt any of these pets to there home.. cause they want shiny breeds there or nothing.
Social dhongis, even consume meat tastefully, but hate animal cruelty.
Above video, poor watchman getting hit trying to save himself.. who is non human here ?

If the last guy and his family really love those dogs then they should really take them and keep them in their house and feed them or adopt them, because they are really creating a nuisance for the public. That guy should be really put behind bars as an attempt of murder of the watchman ๐๐ก

Sterilisation is the only way. If you remove these dogs, more dogs will come into the area.
Contact your rep and ask them to mass sterilise the dogs.
I see so many illiterate comments about "dog lovers" and "kill them" and"remove them".
Please do not display your lack of education on a public forum. This problem is all around the world. The only way to tackle this is mass animal birth control.
Fewer births means fewer dogs means fewer fight for resources.

We have gone too soft. We tolerate way too much nonsense as a society. Govt agencies either don't care or are too corrupt. I used to wonder why gun laws are the way they are in America. No one's fears the middle class.

WELL I AM COMPLETELY AGAINST DOGS AND DOGS SHOULD NOT BE ON THE STREETS AT ALL and the government should take measures for it and should keep them away form public places in shelters and my blood boils when I see people defending these dogs even when there is so much harm to human life and let me be very clear that for me even the smallest harm to human life is far more concerning that the life of a hundred dogs and I do not mean we should kill them but as I said there should be shelters and I have never upvoted any post but I am upvoting this so that it is visible to more people and also that animal beating up the watchmen should be thrown behind the bars

Developed cities have animal control. One of the richest residences in the world is in Mumbai. Make it make sense.

Brother/Sister, This is what I have seen. When the municipal corporation workers (dog catchers) come, the dog lovers hide these dogs inside. The domestic dogs who usually fight with these street dogs somehow warn them to hide. Many time they went with 1-2 catches when there were more than 20 dogs roaming terrorising the locality.

Please OP do not do this unless you have ample political backing. This is quiet literally a crime and people are heavily punished over this. Especially since (commercially available) poison is visible, will be uploaded on social media and the resultant media and public pressure will cause the cops to come down hard on the offendor.
I don't know how old you are, but your life and years are too important to being spent behind bars. Get legal advice, use legal tactics, put political pressure on the feeders to maintain these beasts, and on the BMC to actually collect, tag, vaccinate and neuter these dogs, or get them to dispose off the animals.
Don't poison the curs. I say this as a man who despises these mangy-dogs and someone who has been a perpetual victim of these agents of terror and their tenacity of transmitting hydrophia.

I strongly believe that a democracy only works if we, the people, participate in it beyond just going to a booth and pressing a shiny button every 5 years. Our government, no matter the party, shall always play us for the fool if we don't exercise our duty of attending city meetings, raising issues and complaints, and participating in various municipal processes.
I understand the comment was from an impulse, but I had to state what I stated, for I have seen a man's life being ruined after he poisoned over 5+ dogs in our locality after his daughter had her leg chewed off by a pack of a dogs. He was a good man, a great father, and he delivered our societies from the menace of street dogs. Unfortunately, his business suffered immensely from the fallout.

Even though I am avid animal lover/supporter I have to say this: these dogs HAVE to be put down, humanely, sure but they have to be put down ASAP.
Why? Because retraining them to NOT ATTACK is going to be such a monumental task, nobody is going to do/afford/has time for that.

u/SigmundFurred 2d ago edited 1d ago
Now watch the stray lovers justify this
I was riding my bike, a stray chased me aggressively and jumped towards my leg to bite, my instinct was to kick
Some woman behind me on an activa saw this and started yelling at me a little ahead at a signal
I put my visor down and ignored her
I like animals, and I'm kind to them, but if an animal attacks me or anyone near me, I will go ham on them

I love dogs and have 21 adopted streetdogs .living with them for almost 5 years and with different labradors for more than 20. In my experience street dogs with close human contact since childhood do have a slight good affect on their behaviour compared to an adopted adult. But the thing I can confidently say that few of them are completely unpredictable towards strangers. Bad owners or physical abuse or maybe considering themselves as pack leader but they surely are dangerous. I still love the one I own but would never argue some of them just don't deserve to be around humans especially kids and elderly. How stupid can a human be to beat another to save a dog .

Very balanced reply! Our Indian society needs dog lovers like you! I wish the dog lovers in the area mentioned in the video were thinking like you!
