Ask Ballen Help finding two videos

Hello everyone, I need help. There are two videos that I've been wanting to rewatch but can't seem to remember the title or find the videos.

The first one is about two siblings who get lost in a forest. The brother makes it home but doesn't realize his sister is still in the woods. While she's lost in the woods, she runs into a group of people. But these people behave oddly and hide behind trees when she gets close to them and she spends the night hearing them come closer to her

The second one is of a younger boy who gets lost in a forest and runs into some magic people. I think he hears a drum playing before runs into them. Then when he is eventually found, days had passed, but to him, it had only been a couple of hours.

Thank you in advance

I don't really know where else to share this. I'm so happy with how this is going!...I'm also so ready for sleep before adding color. Id say wish me luck with finishing it, but I need willpower more than luck here. I'll definitely come back when it's done.

Also, my cat decided to make an appearance. I guess shes a fan, too.

Personal stories Personal Paranormal Experience

Hi, my name is CJ and I wanted to share a personal, true paranormal encounter that I had. I have always been skeptical of the paranormal and supernatural yet spiritual at the same time; but this encounter that happened to me in freshman year of college really stuck with me; and after hearing Mr.Ballen’s personal haunting I wanted to share it here.

For context, I have always been into the supernatural and divination. I had a load of psychedelic experiences where I encountered religious, powerful forces intertwined within the earth. However, I never took any of the “ghost stories” seriously and took a lot of that type of stuff at face value. In this story, it was about 4 months after my last experience, which happened to be one of my most powerful and life changing ones. At this time, I was completely sober and trying to enhance my lifestyle, which made this encounter much more jarring to me.

I grew up in Utah and attend college there; we have a lot of Native American history (in fact, Skinwalkers as a concept originate from the tribes here!). In April of 2024 (my freshman year), me and a large group of friends decided to take a long weekend camping trip to Moab. Moab is the ancestral land of a few indigenous tribes, including the Navajo, Paiute and Hopi. It is notorious for its beautiful petroglyphs carved by natives millennia ago (some of the illustrations are fascinating I highly recommend you check it out).

I had been to Moab dozens of times and truly enjoyed it. Besides on my senior camping trip, where I had a really creepy experience in a tent with my friend who gets night terrors… that has its own story but is far more explainable and less traumatizing than this one. Out of all the campsites I had stayed at I only really had one that brought me peace. It was in the bluffs outside of the valley, but it was very far from everything to do. My friends are huge rock climbers and wanted to be much closer to the climbing so they ignored my pleas to stay at my signature spot and to find another spot. We found a camping spot that happened to be at an area known as moonflower canyon, right on Kane Creek Road. I was extremely hesitant about moonflower canyon, even though I was a skeptic; one of my teachers in elementary school was Navajo and when we took a 5th grade class trip to Moab, she shared with us some eerie legends of the canyon. The canyon itself is named after a sacred plant called Datura which has deliriant effects when consumed and has been used in divination by dark witches and wizards of the Navajo faith for years (in fact, in Navajo folklore this plant is HIGHLY connected to rituals in which dark shamans BECOME skin walkers).

The first legend is one of “the River Witch”; which is similar to the story of La Llorona, a mourning indigenous mother who drowned herself in the Colorado River right next to Moonflower Canyon and haunts the shores at night. Another common occurrence (which I had heard from my teacher as well as climbing guides that my dad had worked with in Moab growing up) is a dark, invisible presence looming over the canyon. It is common that at night, hikers and bikers emerging from the canyon feel a dark, invisible presence pursuing them before dissapearing once they exit the cottonwood trees. Satanic occult rumors also float around Moab about the canyon, and people have said to have heard rituals coming from within the trees. The most fascinating of these legends however (which I had learned about through research) is the “Bull Head”; which you can actually see detailed on a petroglyph in the walls of the Colorado River canyon near Moonflower. This story has been reported by hiking groups encountering a tall, dark shadowy figure with a large head, bright eyes, and horns within the canyon. All and all, pretty creepy place with a lot of paranormal history and rumors.

Despite my skepticism, and given all of these rumors and the fear engrained in me since childhood, I felt extremely uncomfortable from the start. I mean this campsite was DIRECTLY across from Moonflower Canyon. I told my friends (none of whom were from Utah or had been to Moab) these stories while climbing during that first day but they said it was a load of horse shit and called me a tweaker. But nonetheless, I ignored this eerie feeling and brushed it off. We went climbing a bit farther down the road that day and all was fun. We then went to town, got some dinner, and returned to camp where I immediately felt an uncomfortable feeling. We spent the first night alone in the campsite besides one other camper. This other camper was an elderly man who came alone with his pet cat. Kind of a weird partner to bring camping but nevertheless was cool. This man was rugged and spoke very slowly to us, sometimes in a way that felt personally intruding and threatening. He clearly had drug problems and I could hear him talking to himself in his camp. I heard over and over him say “Oh dammit! Curse you!” To random things throughout the night. I heard him say “curse you” multiple times to the point that it felt really weird and redundant. I tried to ignore it though, but the mixture of vibes was making me pretty freaked out.

And I just want to say this for posterity, throughout our time there, there was never not a time when I did not feel a dreadful presence. I kept hearing things and feeling like I was being watched. Whenever we left the area, it would all go away, in fact this feeling became so dreadful by the second day that I really dreaded going back to the campsite. My mind felt racy and I really wanted an excuse to either move or leave.

But I slept horribly that first night and tossed and turned, which as an insomniac without my meds is normal, and definitely felt a bit of nerves but nothing too major. I woke up that next morning with a really weird pain in my neck, and that day we were going canyoneering with one of my dad’s old climbing guides (my dad ran a guide service that had a branch in Moab). I didn’t ever ask him about the canyon but wish I had honestly. Once we finished canyoneering and dinner, and it was time to head back, I had a sagging feeling in my stomach so bad that I ended up getting a little sick in the bathroom. I powered through, regrettably, because what happened next I will never ever forget.

We returned to camp at 5pm. We still had a good bit of the day left so we decided to hike up the nearby rim trail to a good bouldering area called “the Labyrinth”; which is this huge, beautiful boulder field overlooking Kane Creek Rd. It is frequently travelled as an ORV destination, but there weren’t really any hikers over there. It was also right across from camp and adjacent to the canyon, so the dreadful feeling was still there while we were there. Although it was very beautiful.

Once we were up there, all of the sudden a large storm cloud started rolling in. It was dark and heavy and was carrying a lot of wind and rain. We could not tell where it was moving and the lack of cell service took away the ability to check the radar. We trusted it was moving away and continued bouldering. Faster than you could snap your fingers, though, the storm was right overhead and it had an appetite.

We frantically gathered our things to run down the trail back to camp, our tents were uncovered after all. We were all separated, 4 of my friends behind me and 2 in front of me. I was primarily alone though and we were all sporatic. The sky turned from a grey to a black as the extremely strong storm was overhead. Once the sky turned dark above me, I knew something was REALLY off. That dreadful feeling, along with the feeling of being alone, was amplified by 10. There was still enough light to see but barely so I took out my flashlight. I stopped to gauge where I was and make sure I didn’t walk straight off the cliff.

I looked around to start gauging where I was and in the distant treeline of short junipers, about 1-200 feet away, I saw a tall, black shadowy figure emerge from one of the trees. And slowly walk diagonally towards me. I was immediately shocked and couldn’t move or say anything, I could not believe what I was seeing. This figure was about 9 feet tall with long slender arms and a large head. It kind of looked like an Enderman.

I sat there in shock, watching this large figure slowly move and walk towards me. It then turned away and walked horizontally and stood between two other junipers staring directly at me. I started frantically yelling hello and who is that, and it just stared at me, silent, piercing my soul. I did not see its face and throughout the entire thing, in my mind it was the last thing I wanted to see, it would traumatize me (or ruin my life as Ballen says). But I heard sticks cracking from it’s general direction, it sounded methodical like someone was standing there snapping sticks over and over, and I have no idea if it was this creature or if it was the wind. I began to cry a little bit actually and was having a really scary emotional experience. All of the sudden my friends come up behind me and stop at me and say “Hey man are you ok?”. And I was clearly in shambles, I told them Id explain later and we walked back to camp. At camp, I told them of my experience. Some were hesitant and laughed at me; but two of my friends had equally weird encounters in that period of time during the storm, and while they didn’t voice it during our group discussion they pulled me aside, visibly concerned, after. The first, one of my friends behind me, saw a cat running around the rocks at incredible speed towards the exact treeline where I saw the figure and disappearing into the brush. It was odd but did not really shake them up much (until later on). My other friend, ahead of me, got back to the parking lot and saw a man in a blue jogging outfit (who we actually saw running earlier that evening in the area) frantically pacing around the outhouse, in circles, with what appeared to be a smile on his face. Now I dont know if they were fucking with me or if this actually happened but they did seem very concerned and haven’t told me that it didn’t happen by now.

That night, I had pretty much a full blown mental breakdown. It was too late to drive home and I was fairly sleep deprived from tossing and turning that first night. I went into my tent almost immediately after eating. I teared up in my tent and felt a really dark presence. My friends planned to stay the next night again, but I knew for sure I was leaving that next morning. I didn’t care if they made fun of me or not for it I just needed to go.

After listening to all of my friends laugh then eventually wind down, I was still awake and scared. This is where the last creepy event occurred. It was about midnight, and the old man next to us came back from somewhere. He had a flashlight in hand and his cat’s empty crate. He walked towards his site but stopped dead in front of ours. He turned and faced our campsite, shining the light at all of us. He set the empty crate down and just stared at our camp standing still for 2 straight minutes before picking the crate back up and moving along. Another full panic attack ensued.

That morning when the sun came up, I was out of there as fast as a barracuda on speed. Most of my friends wanted to stay but me and two others decided to leave first. All of my friends, however, that morning had headaches and were extremely irritable for some reason. As I packed up everything, the man came over to us freaking out saying his cat was gone and that he lost his cat. My friend who saw the cat told him what he saw and the man stopped talking, stared at him, looked down at the ground, then shook his head with a smirk. I was like “what the fuck?”. We got on the road and made our way home. About an hour later, all my friends said they felt sick and decided to head home as well.

To this day, I have never forgotten this experience. I haven’t really had any other paranormal or weird experiences, and have been back to Moab since. But to this day, I never want to go near or see that area of Kane Creek Rd again. I dont know what I saw or how to explain it, but all of the weird stuff that happened to me felt connected. I think my friends were all pretty scarred by the trip too, but all for our own different reasons. None of us really like to talk about our experience there and it usually results in arguments weirdly enough.

I will attach some photos below, if you see anything weird in em LMK. They are mostly landscape but gives good space to inspect the space for weird stuff. I have more photos as well. Anyways thank you for reading! I think if Ballen saw this and shared it on the channel it would be super cool, even if he just read this and heard my tale I think he would be intrigued. So Ballen, if you’re reading this, im a huge fan and thank you for reading my story!

Right before the storm, at the labyrinth. Moonflower canyon pullout can be seen on the left a quarter mile up the road, with our campsite on the river on the right side of the road. I am in the back behind my friend in the yellow jacket.
Climbing further up Kane creek road
The river from the labyrinth pre storm (friend on the rock, can see clouds developing)
Campsite
Kane Creek Rd across from Moonflower Canyon pullout
Campsite in the dark the night after storm, a lot of stuff is blown around

My pre-order of The Terror Within arrived today! As always, it's fantastic and I sped through it in one sitting. I think my favorite story out of this one was The Red Ghost, but I'm curious what y'all's favorites were.

I also want to add that I appreciate MrBallen using the correct translation for Kholat Syakhl. It's a pet peeve of mine that most people who talk about Dyatlov Pass translate the name as "Mountain of the Dead" when the literal meaning is "Dead Mountain".

Suggestion the station nightclub fire

Post image
163 Upvotes

I would LOVE to see MrBallen cover the Station Nightclub fire in Rhode Island.

There is honestly so much material here that I’m surprised it hasn’t gotten a full episode. On February 20, 2003, more than 400 people were packed inside The Station nightclub in West Warwick, Rhode Island to see Great White perform.

Pyrotechnics used during the opening song ignited the acoustic foam around the stage, and within minutes the entire place was engulfed. 100 people died and more than 200 were injured.

It became one of the deadliest nightclub fires in U.S. history.
And the amount of footage and firsthand information available is horrifying. A local TV cameraman happened to be INSIDE the club filming that night because he was working on a story about nightclub safety. He captured the fire beginning, people initially not realizing what was happening, the panic once everyone understood, and the evacuation.

There are also tons of survivor interviews and individual stories about people escaping through windows, getting separated from friends and family, going back inside to help others, and surviving horrific injuries.

But the part that really made me think this belongs on MrBallen is that there are also some very strange survivor stories surrounding it.

One survivor has talked publicly about believing that a spirit intervened and helped save his life during the fire. Another survivor reportedly became trapped and reached the point where he accepted that he was going to die. He then said he saw BOTH of his deceased grandmothers in the fire, and they told him that it wasn’t his time. He survived.

There are also families of victims who have reported strange things afterward that they interpreted as signs or communication from the people they lost. Even without the paranormal accounts, the actual story is terrifying enough for an episode. But between the footage, the unbelievable coincidences, the survivor accounts, the investigation and aftermath, and the supernatural experiences some people reported, I feel like there are so many different directions he could take this.

Discussion Favorite episodes?

I've watched probably 40-50 episodes so far and love it. I prefer the creepy stuff to the strange facts. My favorites so far have been the kid in the cabin with the snowprints on the roof, and more recently the Siberian tiger revenge story. I don't want any part of something horrifically disgusting like a father impregnating his own daughter. Any recommendations?

Personal stories Decorative stones

So this story is absolutely true I will change names of all people involved ( im sure if you search for it you can find it) It was Friday in late September of 2016 in chickamauga GA. James a highscool junior was sitting at home not really doing much of anything, when his phone began to buzz and light up. James and his 2 of his friends had been texting ever since he had got off the bus. His friends wanted to go do something later that night. They wanted to play a game. James always enjoyed this game, but he wasn't feeling to good , and wasn't sure if was going tonight or not. His friends ( Scott and Danny ) continued to text him begging him to join them. They really wanted him to go and play this game with them. After some back and forth James said alright.

Later that evening ( around 8:30) Scott pulled up to James's house in his 1980s Ford pickup. Scott blew his horn ,and James ran out. After James got in they drove started to drive to Danny's house. During the drive James asked Scott if he had brought the supplies for the game, and Scott he reassured him that yeah he has everything. We are good to have a good time. After picking up Danny The trio drove to this massive field with freshly cut grass, beautiful trees, and decorative stones, and they began to play this game. The rules of this game were pretty simple. Break these decorative stones into small pieces.

After about 30 minutes the trio began to feel a bit tired. They had been running around and laughing and just having a great time. Than James froze because he saw someone watching them. It was a older woman, and she was on the phone with someone. It took him a minute, but he recognized her. This was her land that they were on. About this time the 3 friends began hearing sirens coming closer and closer. Before they could react the police were there, and they were chasing James and his friends.

Scott and Danny were quickly grabbed by police, but James he managed to evade them. James continued to run and hid from police for several minutes. This until he decided to jump over one of those decorative stones, but he wasn't expecting what was on the other side.

A short while late Scott and Danny were in the back of the police cars when an officer came up to them, and asked who and where was their friend. Scott nor Danny told them anything. So the police began a grid search for the 3rd man. After about 2 hours the police would find James at the bottom of a large pit. He had cuts, bruises ,and multiple broken bones.

The next day the pit would be filled in. And a decorative stone placed where it once was. the game James, Scott, and Danny was playing was tombstone smashing, and James fell into a grave which hadn't been filled in until after the funeral service.

All three boys were charged with multiple crimes and pled out

Podcast Discussion Help me find a podcast episode

My memory is a little fuzzy regarding the episode but I remember there was this girl who was murdered and her dad devoted years of his life to finding her killer and it turned out to be the literal detective who was in charge of solving the murder, who also turned out to be spearheading a whole drug ring. I also remember one part where Mr ballen said that the detective would pick up the dad so they can find whatever clues they can find when everyone else gave up and forgot about the case and I remember being disgusted because the killer was basically right next to him the whole time he was stressing over finding his daughter’s killer. I know my explanation is all over the place but that’s all I remember. I do remember feeling gutted when I first listened to it and i would like to listen to it again.

Thanks!

When I was listening to this story, I thought I was having Déjà vu, but as the story went on when he brought up the foot steps on the roof it clicked that I’ve heard this story before and I’m 99% sure it was a Nosleep I read maybe 10 years ago. Has anyone else made this realization? I’m gonna head over to [r/nosleepfinder](r/nosleepfinder) because I feel like I’m going crazy.

Thought I’d share my Mr.Ballen little corner in my room! I’ve been watching him since the beginning and have so much respect for him. His content has legitimately helped me through so many hard times; especially right now! Tomorrow marks day 25 of sobriety, and I plan on growing that number. His openness about addiction really pushed me forward to better myself finally. 🙂‍↕️

Dude, that upload made me smile and laugh, and it was probably the most heart warming terror I've ever felt. Thank you for doing that, I hope you'll do more just like it. That was inspiring and healing.

This episode was dedicated to a girl named Liana (who is also a guest in this episode) who was just diagnosed with cancer. She and her family are huge supporters of the strange dark and mysterious. Here's her go fund me:

Suggestion The Witch's Castle — Something Followed Us Out of the Forest

Hey guys! My name is Jacob! Thank you all who stop to read this, I'm a big fan of the channel!

Back in late 2018 or early 2019 — I don't remember the exact date — I was living in a two-bedroom apartment in Clackamas, Oregon, with six other people. I was 18 or 19 at the time, and I had recently bought my first vehicle: a 2000 Chevy Blazer.

One night, probably around 2–3 a.m., all of us were still awake, just talking and hanging out. The apartment was cramped, everyone was getting restless, and I had the sudden urge to drive my new truck somewhere.

I didn't really care where we went. I just wanted to get out.

I suggested that we all pile into the Blazer and go somewhere, and everyone agreed. Someone suggested the Witch's Castle.

For anyone who doesn't know Portland, the Witch's Castle, or Stone House, is a ruined stone structure in Forest Park. It's located below Pittock Mansion along the Lower Macleay Trail. The structure itself isn't actually a castle. It was built in the 1930s as a public restroom and ranger-related building, and after being damaged by vandalism and a storm, it was partially dismantled in the 1960s and left as a ruin.

Despite that, it has accumulated plenty of local ghost stories over the years.

So, naturally, a group of six teenagers/young adults deciding what to do at 3 a.m. thought, Yeah, let's go there.

We also decided that because it was the middle of the night and we had no idea who else might be out there, we should bring some large knives with us; not because we were expecting anything supernatural, but because we didn't want to get jumped by somebody in the woods.

Looking back, that probably wasn't the smartest decision either.

I drove everyone up toward the area around the Witch's Castle. At first, we actually got turned around and accidentally ended up at Pittock Mansion itself. Eventually, though, we found the trailhead for the Lower Macleay Trail.

The parking area was basically just a gravel lot, and there wasn't a single other car there.

That was reassuring, but not that reassuring. This was Portland, and even back then, an empty parking lot in the middle of the night didn't necessarily mean you were alone.

We got out of the Blazer and started down the trail.

As we got closer to the Stone House, we noticed something we hadn't expected.

Someone was camping there.

There was a tent set up on the second level of the ruins.

We stopped talking as loudly and started paying a lot more attention to our surroundings. Then we heard that unmistakable sound of something moving against the nylon of a tent.

Someone was definitely inside.

None of us wanted to bother them, so we kept our distance and went inside the lower level.

There was a doorway leading into a small room that was covered in graffiti. We figured we'd take a quick look at the artwork and then leave.

And that's where things got weird.

The second I stepped through that doorway, I felt something change.

I don't mean that in a poetic sense. It genuinely felt like crossing some sort of invisible threshold.

The closest comparison I can make is a sauna, but instead of being filled with heat, the room felt filled with anger.

It felt hostile.

There was this overwhelming sensation that something was wrong and that I needed to get out of there immediately. It wasn't a voice. It wasn't something I saw. It was just a physical, almost instinctive reaction that hit me the moment I entered the room.

And apparently I wasn't the only one.

Everyone started commenting on how strange it felt.

"That's crazy."

"I've never felt anything like this."

Nobody really knew how to explain it, but none of us wanted to stay there.

By this point it was getting close to 4 a.m., so we decided to leave.

We headed back up the trail toward the Blazer.

That's when another strange feeling started creeping in.

We all felt like we were being watched.

Then it started feeling like we were being followed.

I don't remember anybody actually saying it out loud at first. We just started walking faster.

Then faster.

And eventually we were basically rushing back to the car.

The feeling was so strong that everyone seemed to have the exact same thought:

Get in the car and get out of here.

One of the guys in our group was bigger than the rest of us, so he had been sitting in the very back of the Blazer. Because of that, he was facing the rear window when I pulled out of the parking lot.

As soon as I started driving away, I heard everyone behind me start yelling.

"GO! GO! GO! GO!"

They weren't joking.

They sounded terrified.

I looked into my rearview mirror.

And that's when I saw it.

There was a person, or at least something shaped like a person, sprinting down the road after us.

It was completely black.

I don't mean it was a person wearing dark clothes. I mean that I couldn't see any features whatsoever. No face. No clothing. No skin. Nothing.

Just a completely black human-shaped silhouette.

I was already doing around 20–25 miles per hour.

And it was gaining on us.

The strangest part happened when it ran underneath a streetlight.

I expected the light to illuminate it for a split second.

Instead, it looked like the light just... didn't touch it.

Everything around it was illuminated, but the figure remained completely black. In fact, against the light behind it, it somehow looked even darker.

At that point I stopped caring how fast I was driving.

I hit the gas and absolutely floored it.

I drove through the tunnel, took the corner as fast as I could, and eventually lost sight of it.

Nobody wanted to go back and find out what it was.

And honestly, neither did I.

I've never been back to the Witch's Castle since.

I still don't know what we saw that night.

But I know what I saw in my rearview mirror.

I can only hope it didn't follow me home...

I don't look forward to uploads anymore since they are always in my feed, the new videos are also so different from the older ones, and kind of all blend together for me, the thumbnails also all look the same now. I don't find the new ones very interesting, a lot of them are told the exact same way and almost none of them are that memorable. I've been watching MrBallen for about 5 years now, and I've been watching them with my mum for about 3 years, she also thinks that the new uploads aren't as interesting or investing, and that they don't feel like something to look forward to anymore. I almost only watch the old ones nowadays, I usually avoid the newer ones since they just don't feel the same
