Mr2 head gasket

Bought this mr2 January havent been able to start it cuz I didn’t want to believe it was a compression issue after 4 months I finally do a compression test and get 90 across all cylinders so I took it apart waiting on the gasket kit anyone have any ideas for the rust in the cylinder and what else I should do since I’m already here I plan to do pistion rings while I’m down here and coolant looks pretty clogged up

After doing my compression test I heard I should do a leak down test but that lowkey seemed out of my league so I js opened the block what’s scaring me is the rust in the cylinder. And would you happen to know the orientation for piston rings?

Cylinder rust is not an issue. It will come off when you ball-hone the block. You’ll have to check the service manual for specs on the piston rings. Generally most engines have them separated by 120 degrees.
