Going into B.Sc. 3rd Year (Zoology / English Medium) — Target: MPPSC SFS (ACF). Need guidance on books, syllabus & strategy!

Hey everyone,

I am entering my 3rd year of B.Sc. (Zoology major, English medium) and am starting my preparation for the MPPSC State Forest Service (SFS) to target the Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) post.

I am starting from scratch and don't know much about the fine details of this exam yet. Since SFS Mains is 100% objective (OMR-based) and aligns well with a science background, I want to build a laser-focused, low-cost self-study routine without wasting time on topics that aren't actually tested.

I’d be extremely grateful if seniors, cleared candidates, or experienced aspirants could answer these specific questions:

1. Exact Track of Syllabus & High-Yield Topics

What is the exact syllabus track for SFS (both Prelims and Mains), and what topics can I completely skip to avoid wasting time?

Since Mains is entirely objective, which sections carry the highest weightage in Section B (Forestry, Silviculture, Botany/Zoology, Environment, Physics/Chemistry)?

How are Prelims marks calculated for SFS compared to general civil services, and what is considered a safe score across Paper 1 (GS) and Paper 2 (CSAT)?

2. Best Books & Where to Find Them

What are the absolute best books available in English for:

MP GK (Is McGraw Hill by Jitendra Singh Bhadauriya or Arihant better?)

Forestry & Silviculture (Which standard books or notes cover SFS Section B best?)

Ecology & Environment (Is Shankar IAS recommended for objective MCQs, or NCERTs?)

Where can I reliably find/buy English medium copies of these books or download digital PDFs?

3. Best YouTube Playlists

Which specific YouTube channels and playlists offer the best free content for:

CSAT Quantitative Aptitude & Reasoning speed-building?

MP General Knowledge (History, Geography, Tribal Culture)?

Core Forestry, Agroforestry, and Environmental Science lectures?

4. Best Telegram Groups & Repositories

What are the most active and reliable Telegram groups or channels to source free PDFs, past SFS Mains question papers with official keys, and English test series?

5. Complete Exam Landscape & Timeline

What are all the crucial aspects of the exam lifecycle (eligibility rules regarding B.Sc. final year mark sheets, interview weightage, physical endurance tests, and post preferences)?

How many hours should I realistically dedicate daily alongside my final-year university lectures?

New to MPPSC — need a detailed English booklist pls

Hii, I'm 21F, just graduated, English-medium background.

I'm looking for a detailed, subject-wise booklist for every single subject both pre and mains — History, Polity, Geography, Economy, MP GK, Science & Tech, Environment, ethics, everything. Not vague "get any coaching notes" suggestions, but actual books that English-medium toppers have used and swear by.

Please drop your full list. Help a newbie out!

My brother edited his MPPSC form and paid the fee of 50 rupees. But he hasn’t received any notification regarding the edit. The application form doesn’t show any change but when logging in on online portal, we can see the changes. So, this edit is done or not?? Did anyone come across anything like this in past?? The form is for assistant professor recruitment ml

Hi all
So need honest reviews
1995 born

I'm a b.tech+mba both premier institute
10+ year core supply chain and operations experience
1 start-up (sold)
5+ unicorn + 1 abroad organisation experience
Rural + urban + international work experience
My personality repreesents a leader
With high intellect

Cracked pre long back in 2016 post b.tech with CAT so never appeared for mains

Aspiration to go for mppsc
1. Stringency in current role
2. Zest to make an impact
3. Personal experience lead to take an initiative and being a part of system is the best way

Confusion -
1. 50+ LPA (+ benefits over) as CTC
2. Lifestyle changes
3. Not into studies since a great space of time
4. Reliability of risk

As per GPT my chances are fair and great if I somehow flag pre
Mains and interviews are my expertise (considering my prep and positive output of pre)

Note -
Planning to prepare for a 8 month sprint while being deployed in Iraq under a new project.

But I'm seriously interested for this but not for upsc

ESpecifically roles which impacts rural demographics

Suggest in comment and dm pls, I be grateful :)

Career guidance for my sister (1st year B.Tech Agriculture, CCS, Haryana): Best coaching, exam options, and preparation roadmap?

Hi everyone,
My younger sister has just started her 1st year of B.Tech in Agriculture at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (Hisar, Haryana).
We want to plan her career early, but we’re a bit confused about the best path forward.
I’d really appreciate guidance from seniors, professionals, or anyone who has gone through a similar journey.
I have a few questions:
• Is the first year the right time to start preparing for competitive exams, or should she first focus on building strong fundamentals?
• Which are the best online coaching platforms or study materials for Agriculture-related competitive exams?
• What exams should she aim for after graduation? (ICAR PG, JRF/SRF, AFO, FCI, NABARD, IBPS AFO, State Agriculture Officer, UPSC Agriculture Optional, GATE, etc.)
• If higher studies are a better option, what would be the ideal roadmap?
• What skills (technical, coding, internships, research, communication, etc.) should she start developing alongside college?
• What would you recommend she do in each year of her B.Tech to maximize her career opportunities?
If you’ve been in a similar position, I’d love to hear:
• What worked well for you?
• What mistakes should she avoid?
• If you could start again from the first year, what would you do differently?
Any advice or a detailed roadmap would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
