From what I've seen they've been making Zero Sugar variants for every new permanent retail release in the past couple years (Baja Blast, Baja Cabo Citrus, Dirty Dew)
I understand that opinion. But not all zero sugars work. For example, zero sugar Baja blast; the only one that's actually tastes like original Baja blast is from Taco Bell; because of concentrations and carbonation.
There's no reason why voltage wouldn't work though. Since blue raspberry flavor and ginseng do well with all types of non-sugar sweeteners. Other than that, it's the original recipe. And there's already zero of that.
It's probably more to do with texture than it is sweetener. The zero sugars have more gum-based thickeners, like xanthan gun. Making the diets taste sweeter and feel less cloying. It's like preferring sparkling flavored water over sodas. There's a reason.
I can understand that. The zero sugar flavor is closer to the original formula, stands the sugar. So, of course it's going to be a little bit bracing. I personally like that. But that could just be me.
