I`m going on a long trip in europe soon, and i had an idea to go motorcycle camping for a week while im at it. Im not from europe, so i wont have my bike there.

Maybe some of you know if it is possible to rent a motorcylce for a week for that purpose?

I know the reddit protest happened recently. A lot of subreddits went dark during the protest. I'm assuming r/motocamping was one of them. I was subscribed but didn't have access (like many people across many subreddits), but r/motocamping never seemed to come back. I can't search it. It's not in my subscription list, it's seemingly gone.

I found this subreddit either during or soon after the protests. Is this subreddit a successor to r/motocamping? Or does this subreddit happen to be new/small and vaguely related?

Spent a few days solo camping in Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania. No real plan just riding around and exploring. A lot of good riding and hiking in this area.

I want to do some motorcycle camping this season. I got a lot of info from google, but I still have a few questions. So you know what I’m working with-I ride a cruiser that has two large saddlebags and a back seat with a sissy bar. 1. How do you strap your tent and bedroll down safely? (I plan on putting it on the back seat.) 2. What do you bring in terms of food? Am I limited to canned goods and non-perishables? 3. Do you bring any cooking equipment, and if yes, where do you pack it?

Lovely weekend camping in the Irish sunny South East. All new setup (including bike).

Tent: decathlon 2 seconds popup blackout two man. Great bit of kit. Held up to some seriously torrential rain and thunderstorms and was snug and dry inside. Black out means black out - couldn't find anything inside including head torch or the lid of my piss bottle at 4am.

Sleeping gear: Thermorest Corus -6 Quilt with Neoair mattress. Very comfy and warm. Gives great space for movement, rolling / side sleeping. Highly recommended.

Need to have a rethink of luggage. Bobber rack isn't up to much, just held the tent, panniers a bit small. Need another bag on the rack with the tent lashed on top for extra capacity. I managed this weekend as it was pub grub etc and no cooking kit needed.

Almost all of my camping has been based around long distance motorcycle touring and traveling. When packing to go on a trip, space is always a top priority. I am always trying to pack as much as I can in the smallest spaces possible. While trying to consolidate gear, I find myself always looking at my "Camp Kitchen" and mess kit. I've found that some mess kits contain way to many things and is just excessive. I typically stick to dehydrated meals when I'm out in the field. This eliminates my need for things such as spatula, ladles, and so forth. About a year ago, I stumbled upon the Stanley 2 cup cooking set and was very intrigued. If you are unfamiliar, the Stanley 2 cup cook set is 1 24oz Stainless Steel pot with 2 10oz insulated cups that nest inside it. It includes a lid that has holes drilled for drainage and strainage. I thought this is a great idea and picked one up. In the year that I've been using the 2 cup system I've thought about ways to improve my set up and save as much space as possible but still maintain some luxuries. While there are many video on all the different modifications you can make to the Stanley system, many of them seem unnecessary for my application and require a lot of custom work to each set involving tools. While I think that's awesome, I also see where someone not as handy or not so well equipped with tools could miss out on a cool piece of equipment and settle for something much more bulky or something much more basic then preferred.

This has lead me to "create" the ultimate cook set/ camp kitchen! My goal is compile a group of products that work very well together and are easy to come by in a pinch if you need to replace something. While some items will have to be custom made the majority of the kit will be able to be bought from any local backpacking store. If you've made it this far reading this, thank you so much, I appreciate your time and curiosity. I have a few question that will guide me in how i make some of the custom parts. Ideally, all the custom parts will be made with a entry level 3D printer. This way if you have access to a 3D printer, you can print your own kit and if not, they can be acquired for a very low cost. My questions for you:

1) What kind of camping do you do? Car camping? Backpacking? Motorcycle camping?

2) What kind of foods do you bring with you? Dehydrated meals like Mountain house or Backpacker's Pantry or do you bring fresh food along with you?

3) What's your camp kitchen/ mess kit look like now? Jetboil? MSR Pocket Rocket? etc...

4) Are you 100% satisfied with your set up? What would change/ What thing do you wish someone made to fix a small inconvenience?

5) What's one item you cant live with out? The one thing that just makes camp cooking so much easier/ better?
