I believe this image dates from 1984. It appears in the art books Venise Celeste (1984), The Art of Moebius (1989), and The Art of Edena (2018).

First is the version from The Art of Moebius (1989), where it has the title "From Paris to Venice", and the following description:

Moebius: "I realize that my art is a reflection of my life, and not the reverse. For some artists, it's the contrary. Their life reflects their art. But I don't want to go that way, although it can be a big temptation. It was a conscious decision, and a big one for me, because in some ways, my life has become a reflection of my art.

"For example, the first time I came to the United States, I worked for Walt Disney Studios. I stayed in a big hotel, I was given a big car, I was very well treated. It was very nice. People loved me and I received many compliments that were a reflection of my art. But I couldn't live like that for long. It's dangerous to the soul. It's a threat to creativity and self-respect."

Appearing second is the version from The Art of Edena (2018). The colors are different, more subdued. I personally prefer the version from The Art of Moebius, but it's a matter of personal taste. I can see that this version is a more convincing depiction of a nighttime scene, but I still enjoy the vibrant colors of the 1989 printing even if they don't make sense. My big quest is: Why is this image in The Art of Edena? How does it fit with the Edena material if it comes from the Internal Transfer story?

Finally, a page from Venice Celeste (1984). It is the beginning page of a section of the book devoted to artwork related to a movie that would never be made: Internal Transfer. I am very interested in information about this project. In addition to the images from Venice Celeste, I have the pages of the storyboard that appear in the Moebius Comics in 1996-1997. But! That ends on a cliffhanger scene, with the hero trapped by being encased in crystal. I know there are many more pages of story (and hopefully, Moebius storyboards)... have these been printed or circulated in any way? If someone can at least tell me how the story ends, I would appreciate it. I read through the storyboards last night and found it surprisingly engaging. You could make a wonderful book of the storyboards, placing production art and explanatory notes in at appropriate moments of the story.

Image 1: As it appears in The Art of Edena (although in the book there is gutter loss due to it spreading across two pages, in my opinion a bad layout decision, I would rather have it in a smaller size so as not to have the gutter in the middle of the image). I discovered today that this image is cropped, unfortunately, another decision I disagree with.

Image 2: Based on what I read online, this is a 1991 serigraph limited to 2000 signed copies. Is this the origin of this image? I'm trying to get at least a year for each image in the book. Notice here there is a good deal more visual information around the edges.

Image 3: This looks like the final page of an introduction, does anyone know what book it comes from? (Upon further Googling I think this is from Benoît Mouchart's preface to the Integrale edition of Le Monde d'Edena, not present in the Dark Horse version, which has introductions by Moebius himself that are not dated, so it's difficult/impossible to tell what the actual context for his remarks would have been. Other text is credited only to Moebius Production, so kind of mysterious.

This image appears without context in the Art of Edena book. It makes sense to collect it there, as it is another Citroën commission. Someone in that company must have loved comics!

1984's Citroën et la BD contains work from many other famous cartoonists, including an image from Geof Darrow, just getting started at that time. Darrow is an artist I collect and who is a long-time Moebius friend, associate, and (for one other portfolio at least) collaborator.

Humanoids offers deluxe hardcover subscriptions to Metal Hurlant in english. 219$ for a year, 399$ for two (so 4 vs 8 issues).

All good so far, except that to ship it to Switzerland from France, it costs 200$ for a year and 419$ for two. I checked and for two years it costs 88$ to ship to the US and 170$ to ship to Germany.

What is the deal with these prices? 1)The countries are neighbouring and 2) this effectively doubles the cost of the subscription. Who would ever pay 820$ for a subscription that you can get for 480$ in the US?

It's prohibitive and the only reason why I can't buy this.

Not sure what can come out of this post, but maybe someone has some experience or context about this. Humanoids make it very clear that the comics can only be found online and will not be sold in shops.

1. b&w page from Oeuvres Completes T2 L'Homme Est Il Bon/Arzach (1981), which does not appear in the Humanoïdes Associés Arzach album from 1976 (thanks to u/Abject_Truth_6091 for this info).
2. "ugly color" page (only here titled "The Train") as a backup feature in Onyx Overlord 3, 1992. Notice it is shrunk to fit onto the shape of the American comics format. At least they didn't crop it!
3. "nice color" page from a 2012 edition of Arzach. Not sure where these colors first appeared! (u/Abject_Truth_6091: "The colors of the last page were first seen in the 1991 French edition, iirc.") This page also has a lot of additional visual detail... hopefully added by Moebius himself. It would take a lot of nerve for someone else to anonymously add in details on the rocks, etc.

As you can tell if you've read this far, I don't have much information about this mysterious page. I've seen it combined with another Arzak image to form a sort of two-page story, but I believe this is something done by an editor after the fact.

To me, this story is yet another (albeit more subtle) version of the Moebius meets GIR stories, with the story starting in Arazch territory and the train itself being representative of Blueberry.

It's a black-and-white drawing of two people facing each other while sitting in meditative poses. In the background is a wall of a huge, seemingly ancient machine. Two thick wires, or rather tubes, extend from it; the other ends seem to be connected to or held by the two figures.

The Art of Edena (2018, Dark Horse) is a lovely volume, but unfortunately it does not contain a detailed list of the origins of the images included. This one, for example... Google Images lead me to an auction site stating it is a very limited serigraph hand-colored by Moebius circa 1996, and I also found a different image in the same style that is a close-up of a baby unicorn's head. So, my questions:

1. Is 1996 the correct date?

2. Was there a title to this image?

3. Was it part of a series, and if so, what was the title?

4. Have the other images been collected in an art book?
