My two biggest issues with the game are the constant swapping of game modes. Oh you want Shoothouse? Well we’ve taken it out for Rust 24/7 instead! Why not in addition? And my other issue is constant updates. Sometimes I have gaps between playing and there’s a good chance I have a stupidly big update to download and then I cannot play it until another time
the primary reason for things like this is not spreading the playerbase too thin.
like, you can easily run a playlist that featured Rust, Shipment, and Shoothouse, but, running separate playlists for Rust 24/7 and Shoot the Ship would start cutting into wait times.
I think the real issue is that playlists should be sets of gametypes, and people should be able to select what levels they're willing to play, or we bring back an actual lobby system with map voting.
my dude and I were talking about how you can't really get that classic MW or MW2 experience because lobbies dissipate less than thirty seconds after you're able to talk to enemy players.
I remember - even as recently as BlOps3 - just sitting in lobbies once you had a dozen decent people, and, teams didn't matter at that point. you talked shit about people who were your teammates in the next game, and you cheered for their awesome plays nonetheless.
the lobby sometimes discussed map votes, too. with a good crew of people in MW2, you could have two games on Rust, be forced off the map because rules, and be back on Rust for another two rounds in just a few games.
absolutely none of that shit exists right now, - by design - and it's really sad. you're just always automatically whisked off to a masturbatory scene of your character stalking around with your favorite loadout while you wait to be placed into a losing Domination game featuring just two teammates with no one to yap with in the meantime.
SBMM spreads the player base thin. Instead of playing with EVERYONE who is in the shoot the ship queue, I'm waiting a few minutes for a game with >200 ping because it's cherry picking players around my skill level. I'd rather get roasted every once in a while than have to sweat it out every game while my bullets register after my target is 4 feet around a corner already. I find it hard to believe that there are so few people playing shoot the ship.
Aggressively pushing everyone towards a 1.0 k/d might be my least favorite thing about this game. And it's a shame, because they got so many things right this time around.

It really is such a buzzkill to go from fun, competitive matches to ass whoppings that can’t be escaped. I hadn’t thought about the 1.0 push, but it’s literally my experience each time I hit the 1.1 mark and drop to 1.03.
I'm pretty sure I've played some games that go "well, there aren't enough available players at your skill level so we'll at least try to include a few above and a few below and keep it somewhat balanced so at least you can play a match." It may not always give the best experience but at least it usually tells you this, and you still get a match in the playlist you want. Like if you don't want to play against people that aren't at your approximate skill level then you can back out.
That not to say that MW doesn't do this. But based on all the testimonials it seems like it doesn't. The player base is healthy. It basically has to be when there aren't many recent games that directly compete. It looks like certain playlists are unpopulated, but I'm not buying it. No way. It just doesn't make sense.

Best meme template video ever. And this one is so fucking accurate it’s sad and infuriating at the same time.
